Just buy! Don't let the reviews freak you out!
I ordered the dymo LM 280 with one roll of black on white tape. The product description and reviews said no ac adapter came with the unit, but mine came with an ac adapter. So, now I have to return the extra ac adapter I ordered. Anyways, this label maker doesn't even take batteries, so I'm thinking they have to give everyone an ac adapter. Everyone who is saying they needed 6 AAA batteries is full of it because it literally doesn't take batteries. The unit is extremely light weight to where it almost feels like a pretend toy label maker for a child. The unit is nice. You can literally hook it up to your laptop and print with any font, insert any image, etc. Its a quality device, and it definitely does much cooler stuff than any other label maker I've used. BUT... I don't want to say it, but I actually hate the way it looks lol The amazon photo looked like it would look similar to a Blackberry, but it looks like a gigantic fake scanning device from star trek. Also, I read a TON of reviews complaining about the amount of tape being wasted. I've used many label makers, and I have no idea what people are talking about. This label maker puts the same amount of space that every other label maker does. I'm actually wondering if people are reviewing an older model of the 280 (i don't even know if that exists) because I'm finding the tape/battery claims to be completely false. Plus, I literally ordered two rolls of black on white tape for $6 and you can get a better deal if you buy your tape in bulk. Seriously, if you want an awesome label maker and own a computer, this one is $26 and will literally print your face if you upload a picture of your face, it will just be a very tiny image of your face and in black and white lol But, don't buy this if you don't have a computer. The device on its own has less features than you could get with a $10 label maker, so you literally need a computer to access the awesome features. Also, your going to want only the 1/2" tape from now own, no matter what. I've always been a 3/8" girl, but since I can print so many cool fonts now, I need the wider tape to see my designs better. I actually got really bored the first time I used this because you have so many options! I usually like to waste my time making just the perfect label, but it literally took FOREVER to go through every one of my fonts, then add in pictures! I literally got bored and just picked whatever. Don't let everyone's stupid reviews freak you out. I honestly was so concerned about buying this or some other label maker on Amazon. But, then finally I realized you have to buy Dymo. You can't not buy a Dymo. And I'm really surprised I could get a label maker this cool for only $26! Even if it looks like a $4 star trek kids toy.

Highly Recommended!
The Dymo LabelManager 280 is an outstanding machine. The construction is solid with no flimsy parts that may break with normal use. The screen is large, clear, and easy to read. The buttons around the screen have a nice click to them, and the buttons on the main body are rubber and feel solid. The unit feels good in the hands, and even those with smaller hands should have no trouble typing. The cutter is excellent, the best I've seen on any Dymo. It cuts cleanly and doesn't wast a lot of tape on each end. One or two read-throughs of the manual were all it took to learn the machine. It is well-written and will answer any questions. I found the menus easy to understand and navigate. It is rechargeable and comes with a charging cord. I gave it a full charge when I bought it in August, and here it is December and I've not had to recharge it since. I haven't had a chance to link it to a laptop to use the software, because it does everything I need it to do the way it is. Overall this was an excellent buy and I would recommend it for anyone looking for an inexpensive, well-built label maker that will provide years of use.***I purchased this item myself and I am in no way affiliated with Dymo or Amazon. This is my honest opinion and no one has asked me to write this review.***

Highly Satisfied
I have always struggled with keeping my room organized. Sure I may have some generalized organization of where things are located. Office supplies in the desk drawer, but I've been continually finding the general upkeep of my room a challenge. Even though I might make a mental note of where things belonged it was hard to remember. It was also easy for items that didn't belong in a drawer or shelf to make their way in/on there.Upon getting the label maker, I started to make my treck upon taking the jungle that was my bedroom. I know have every drawer and space labeled in my room. The results is that I have more peace than I ever have before.I have been really impressed by this labelmaker. It is a simple interface but I personally enjoy that. Sometimes too many options paralyzes me in indecision. The thing that I like with labels themselves is that the adhesive is good regardless of the surface it is being applied to. It is also easy to pull off if you decide you want to change a label. For any trying to decide on a labelmaker, give this one a try. It was my first and I do not regret the decision I made.

Great, with small drawbacks.
This is great for quick on the go label making, I would recommend it for the occasional label. However I will not purchase again. (See Cons)Pros:Fast Power OnFast PrintingExcellent Rechargeable BatteryEasy Tape Loading, and CuttingGreat Quality of Thermal PrintAble to use Windows fonts when printing from Software.Cons:1) Screen Can not handle much pressure.(Worried I will damage the screen when throwing this in my laptop backpack. I accidentally pushed on the screen and it had layout lines for 10 minutes.)2) Sometimes cuts are slightly angled using 1/2" D1 tape.3) Margins on left and right are forced to 3/4", making small 1" labels is almost impossible, you will be left with less than 1/4" of space for Text. I tried multiple programs to work around this but I was unsuccessful.4) No Backlight on the screen.5) No reloadable tape for D1 cartridges, I would have been thrilled to purchase thermal tape at 1000 feet (for a lower overall cost) and simply reload my cartridge. However unless I order from a trade site, I don't see this happening. If you are not concerned about a little waste of tape because of forced margins, and don't need a backlight to see in low light conditions. Then the 280 is a great label printer, that I would recommend.
