A Most Excellent Purchase
These. Are. Magic.Five outlets and two remotes for just under $30? SOLD!Can be operated individually, in different sets of multiples, or one button controlling all five outlets? AMAZING!Doesn't require any technical skills - assuming you can plug things into an outlet? WONDERFUL!Operates an enormous range of lamps and appliances? SCHWING!Allows one to relax in full laziness by operating electrical components without having to go downstairs and turn each one on? "Rewards" you by turning on your holiday lights and fixtures, without having to contortionist classes? RIGHT ON!Works in different rooms with the click of one button? YEEHAW!You can still operate the light or appliance independently? FANTASTIC!Saves time, energy, and the keeps the user out of strange positions (that get more difficult to get into every year)? WHERE HAVE THESE BEEN ALL MY LIFE??I could be the spokesperson for these magical outlet plugs - in case you couldn't already tell. Rarely do I purchase a product that exceeds my expectations to this level - and I purchase a lot of crap. I have already taken a mental inventory of every appliance/light I can use these for. If I work it right, I may never have to leave my bed again. :)The only tiny complaint? They take up a little more space than one outlet - making it difficult to plug anything into the other outlet unless it's just a regular plug. (A larger box plug, or one of those three plug strips won't fit in my outlets.) A VERY minor complaint that I think the buyer needs to be aware of for informational purposes, not because the complaint is enough to warrant passing on these.------------- End of Review...But You May Want to Stay Tuned --------------When I originally set these up, I didn't tell my kids that I got these. When my teenage daughter begged to go to a haunted house last night, it involved several tearful discussions because I remember how "well" it went last year and said no. She continued the typical teenage bartering ("I'll clean my room for a month!" "I'll love you forever!", etc)...I finally relented and granted permission. She went with friends and was dropped off by another parent when the expedition ended last night. She didn't sleep all night and was pretty skittish all day. She didn't know I had plugged these in last night...and I didn't think much about it. She settled in to watch TV earlier tonight...and I hit the button to turn on the lights I had plugged into these cool little things. I HAVE NEVER SEEN HER JUMP SO HIGH. OR SO FAR. Bahahaha The lights in the living room suddenly turning on was enough to send her from laying on the couch, to standing on the floor, in one swift motion. I'm pretty sure that if I had blinked, I would have missed it. She started up the stairs like she was powered by lightening - and it hit me why she was flipping. So I clicked the "off" button, turning off all the lights down there. She refused to sit down there alone for the rest of the night. This was, by far, one of my best purchases as a parent - the fun may have been unintended, but these beat the pants off every Super Soaker and fake spider I've ever purchased. Now the hardest part - I have to decide when (or IF) I should tell her about the remote control outlets.Since she is 15 and knows absolutely everything, I think I may keep this one to myself. At least for a little while. ;)

EXCELLENT, DEPENDABLE DEVICE, DESPITE ONE VERY MINOR HICCUP
Overall, this is an excellent, very dependable product, and I'm delighted with it. With one minor exception (listed below), it has worked flawlessly and consistently. I have now used it quite successfully for three months to control two separate, outdoor transformers that power low-voltage perimeter lighting around my house, and it continues to work beautifully -- a huge convenience. I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. The radio signal in the hand-held remote control is powerful enough, in my house, to go at least 50 feet through at least one interior wall to control a transformer in my garage . . . and an equal distance through another wall to a second transformer on my back porch. The maker advertises 100 feet, but I haven't yet tried it quite that far.I did initially have one very minor hiccup, which was very quick, simple, and easy to fix. I bought the model that comes with multiple plug units, all controlled separately through the same, hand-held remote clicker. The instructions say that -- as a customer convenience -- the manufacturer has pre-set the various buttons on the hand-held remote control to separately operate each of the numbered plug units. But either the manufacturer failed to pre-set the clicker to correspond to the numbered plug units on my particular order -- or, if they did, then the pre-sets were somehow lost when I installed the two plug units. However, if you follow the printed instructions, it only takes a few seconds to manually re-set the clicker to each of the plug units. You just press a button on the side of the plug unit, hold the button down for five seconds, and bingo!!! . . . it automatically flashes a light to tell you the re-set has been successful. Since doing this quick, manual reset on each of the plug units, it has worked flawlessly. I love it.I suspect this problem with the factory pre-set may not have been just a one-time fluke, because I had precisely the same problem with the pre-sets when I ordered a second set of the multiple units. However, as I said, the problem is easily corrected in five seconds by following the written instructions. I do like the device very much. It's a HUGE convenience and has greatly simplified my life. Nice design.CAUTION: If you use this device like I do to control the transformer for low-voltage outdoor lighting . . . and if that transformer has a built-in electric eye to turn the outdoor lights on at dusk and off at dawn, as mine does . . . you need to be aware that the electric eye on the transformer has a built-in 10-second delay to prevent it from being turned on by passing auto headlights. That 10-second delay will cause you to think the remote control isn't working, when actually it's working perfectly. Could that 10-second delay have caused me to think the factory preset on the remote control device wasn't working? That's possible. But, just to be sure, I would recommend that the manufacturer double-check outgoing devices to make certain the factory pre-set is being properly done on the assembly line -- to make certain my own experience wasn't just a fluke limited to me.Like several other reviewers, I do wish the manufacturer -- if possible -- could redesign the plug units so that they don't cover BOTH plugs on the same wall outlet, making it difficult or impossible to plug a second appliance into the same wall outlet. It's the same overlap problem one encounters with the plug-type charging devices for so many cell phones and other electronic devices.
