2013 marked the 40th anniversary of Uli's involvement with the Scorpions and he dedicated the year to performing his personal favorites Scorpions classic songs which were recorded and filmed live. The first volume (audio CD) is a result of revisiting the same hall that The Scorpions used to rehearse in from 1973-1978! It is a historic recording of revisiting ULI's past and bringing it to the present. Review: The Master Returns. - One of my original favorites a true virtuoso in every since of the word. Ulrich Jon Roth is one of the top players in the world. Hendrix, Clapton, Page and all frequently mentioned as gods of the axe albeit accurate, one name should always be a part of this list. That's right Roth should be a part of the line-up a Rushmore of " Rock Gods " if you will. Now folks before you go off on this list, I love and respect all these players this is the short list based on popularity . Because we know recognition is based largely on sales and not always on scales, pun intended. Anyhoo, now that I have that off my chest, building since I first heard Virgin Killer by the Scorpions in 1977 on my 8-track. Buy this new release " Scorpions Revisited " and listen to the genius of Roth. Note to fans in my gen-set you know who u are. DO not expect note for note reproductions it is not the aim, just new and respectful nods to his past. If you prefer this style of music as opposed to later Scorps' stylings, check out the following. the aforementioned, Virgin Killer, Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance, Taken by Force and the amazing live recording by these original Teutonic Terrors - Tokyo Tapes! Seeing Mr. Roth live, and shaking his hand what a reserved , kind gentleman. And a truly exceptional performer. Musical integrity was and still is first and foremost to Uli. Scorpions Revisited, amazing stuff! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Yes I'll shut up now, thanks . Review: The RETURN Of A TRUE TITAN!! - This is a great CD, perhaps a casual fan could be excused for thinking WHY would this be the time for Herr Roth to do this, as the ORIGINAL Scorps LP'S were mighty, but after hearing this, it becomes obvious as to why he did it, better technology in recording, and years of living have given Roth a different perspective on both the tunes and how to execute them in fresh and interesting new ways, and he's done so in a big way. A strong shout out to all the players and singers involved, and of course, once one sees that the great SAHA PAETH( the man who helps TOBI SAMMETT realize the brilliant AVANTASIA) is involved, well.... SASHA just nails ANYTHING he's involved with, he's a standard of excellence, so of course this sounds fantastic, as does anything SASHA touches. As for the guitar playing.... well if anyone has to be told how great ROTH is, then I feel sorry for them, he's a TITAN, and always has been, I was lucky enough to have seen him with the Scorps back in the day, if anyone has the right to redo these songs, then it's ULI, and he and his crew of done a brilliant job here, and it serves as yet another reminder, if indeed one is needed, that ULI JON ROTH is a TRUE original, and long may he continue to bring out such fine collections, a job well done by all, and a thanks from all TRUE fans!!

A Great Throwback to the Old/Original Scorpions
Uli Jon Roth did not disappoint with this offering. From my point of view you have two major types of metal/hard rock from the Scorpions. The early years with Uli Jon Roth (which were my favorite) and the Mathias Jabs era (which is still good) (one could also argue for the Michael Schenker era, but to me it was too short lived). Uli jon Roth takes me back to the mid 70's when the Scorpions first formed and helped build metal as we know it today. What a great era to live in and have Uli Jon Roth display his skill and style to mold my music experiences. Also, if you have the opportunity to buy "Tokyo Tapes," the first live album by the Scorpions, you will understand my point of view.

most people dont know that the scorpions were formed in the early 70's and that their huge success they had in the 80's was not
Uli Jon Roth, the most underrated former Scorpions guitarist and song writer in the band's history, most people dont know that the scorpions were formed in the early 70's and that their huge success they had in the 80's was not when the band started carving their way through the history books this is exactly what it says SCORPIONS REVISITED and if your not aware of the Roth era of the Scorpions you need to be the Sky master rips through the catalog that he was involved in with stunning perfection a must have for all Roth fans as well as Scorpions fans and BTW his band absolutely nails all the tunes on this disc he is without a doubt the best Scorpions Guitarist ever and dont get me wrong I love Micheal Schenker, and Mathias Jabs, but you need to experiance it for yourself the Maestro is Waiting!!!!!!

Awesome but the the drums could've sounded better.
Musically awesome. Uli is a master. But the drums... what happened? They dont sound as good as everything else, not loud enough. Perhaps it's just the MP3? We'll see when the actual CD is released. And I thought this was supposed to be a LIVE recording? This band has been on tour 2014 and part of 2015, so I thought part of this "Scorpions tribute" tour was to create a LIVE album from it. I also thought it was coming in the form of DVD? Uli said it himself on his website: http://www.ulijonroth.com/sky/q_a/qa_show.php So I guess his plans changed? Oh well, this is still GREAT stuff. But again, the drums just don't sound like they got enough attention in the studio. And the bass is just a bit too low imho. Everything else about this is great!

A revitalization of classic 70's Scorpions songs from Guitar God...Uli Jon Roth!!
If you are a fan of old Scorpions material you will love this collection of songs! This album is long overdue from Uli Jon Roth, the lead guitar player on the classic material from the '70's albums-Animal Magnetism, Taken By Force, Virgin Killer, & the classic live album, Tokyo Tapes! This album is amazing & I thoroughly enjoy listening to it! Uli Jon's playing is out of this world, & his Skye guitar sounds unbelievable! This collection from Uli Jon Roth is a must have for all who enjoy the 70's Scorpions, who sounded much different from the 80's version! Uli Jon does an 8 minute version of the song, Sails of Sharon that will expand your mind & soul! This 2 cd set includes-In Trance, Polar Nights, Dark Lady, Virgin Killer, Pictured Life, We'll Burn the Sky, & Fly to the Rainbow!

Long, loud, and very guitar heavy. This album is absolutely superb. It's put together so well and you can just feel the dedication that went into it. The guitar work is incredible and some of these solos are so long! I wanted to address a few complaints I've seen in other reviews. One of the most common ones is that the drums are weak. I don't notice this, they provide a great beat and catch up. But drums are far from the centerpiece or focus of this album, that would be Uli's epic guitar playing. Another is that he didn't change the songs up enough. I don't get how people feel this. Some of the songs covered here are twice as long as their Scorpions original, Uli has done a lot of improvisation and extra guitar work. The only thing kept the same are the lyrics, which leads me to another thing. The hired vocalist here, Nathan James, is awesome. Nobody can do what Klaus Meine can do, so he didn't try to imitate, he just did his own thing and his voice fit the songs here very nicely and very surprisingly Klaus's vocals don't feel as missed here as you'd think they would. Altogether a very nice listen for any hardcore Scorpions fan, and a cool counterpart to Scorpions new CD Return to Forever, a cool look at the past and present of the band.

This couple of weeks are Scorpions weeks for me and must be for many fans too I'm sure. With Scorpions new album Return To Forever , Herman Rarebell's Scorpions Songs and this Uli Jon Roth's Scorpions Revisited. I am into Scorpions' popular line ups with Matthias Jabs. That's after Uli Jon Roth left. UJR featured in the early 5 albums after their debut Lonesome Crow (1972) featuring Michael Schenker. Which are Fly To The Rainbow (1974), In Trance (1975), Virgin Killer (1976), Taken By Force (1977) and Tokyo Tapes (Live) (1978) when the band sounded different to what we know them for in latter days. Having different direction in music, Mr. Roth left the band to carry out his own projects of which I am an admirer. I am not used to with the above early albums. I never keenly listened to them. Except for few songs (In Trance, Pictured Life, Virgin Killer etc.) that featured in compilations. Just like Mr. Roth said he traveled back in time to redo the songs, I also traveled back in time to compare those songs album by album. What Mr. Roth has done here is extraordinarily brilliant job. He revisited and reworked on 19 songs to make them sound totally fresh. He gave new life to these songs. 9 of them originally written by himself and 4 co-written with other Scorpions members. Although said live recording, it sounds like studio recording with no audience at all which is not an issue for me. In truth, I enjoyed clean music that way. And I feel the mix still gives a live vibe. Somewhere between live and studio I would say. The Sails Of Charon, In Trance, Pictured Life are the highlights. Nathan James' singing is fantastic. Other musicians are Niklas Turmann on guitars and vocals, Jamie Little on drums, Ule W. Ritgen on bass, Corvin Bahn on keyboards, David Klosinski on guitars and Liz Vandall on vocals on Pictured Life as written on the booklet. The cover art is radiant which influenced me to buy the physical CD (standard jewel case) and not just download. Comes with double discs. 9 tracks in one and the rest 10 in another. Booklet consists of 'The Story Of This Album' in UJR's own words. I can't count how many times I've played since Autorip two weeks prior to release date. Loved it. Brilliant. UJR rocks \m/,
