Is this device latching? does it remain on if the network is down or controlling application not running? does it have power up options like ac on?

It can be either... you can choose it have it latch on or off or not at all. You can also program it to respond to the ping by powering the outlet of for a determined length of time and then have it turn back on and wait so may seconds / minutes until it looks for a successful ping again.. it is a very flexible device

I also bought this ., it works great.. how ever the there is one serious issue with device ., when you enter the web interface it tells you "iboot in use" get to any menu to configure this device. you have reset the device and it can a long time before you can get to the area you want to get to. one time it took me almost 30mins of resetting the device to be able to configure it again , you loss all your configs . i love it., i wish they fix it - in am on 1.30 firmware

Worth the extra cost

If you need remote power control for reboot, this is the best you can do. It costs extra, but as I found from hard experience, you get what you pay for. I gave 4 stars only because of the price.I used it for automatically checking my router/cable modem connection and rebooting when it detects a failure. It does that flawlessly. I can also open the web browser and click to reboot whenever I need to.The built in hub was a plus for me, since there were no extra ports available on the router.This is the only one I found that was actually UL listed. I tried some other brand first and that had no approvals at all. I was concerned to put that a customer location, which was a residence.I did have one tech support issue regarding the DHCP. The issues was resolved with one phone call.
