Really Quite Something!!
I stumbled onto Manuka Honey last year and I was really blown away by all of the claims that were being made about this honey. My family eats a lot of honey and we have really made serious changes to our diets in recent years. We no longer eat processed food, get all of our meats & produce from organic CSA farms and we are constantly on the look out for ways to further improve our diets. After reading about Manuka Honey, I simply had to give it a try. The brand I ordered was Wedderspoon Active 16+. To say that I was impressed is an understatement as the flavor is absolutely to die for. It has a very unique taste. To be honest, its the best honey I have ever had. I am a yogurt junkie and started making homemade yogurt a couple years back. Sprinkling some Manuka Honey over homemade yogurt is simple amazing. Its hands down the best yogurt topping I have ever tried and I have tried almost everything. The unique taste of Manuka honey blends perfectly with yogurt. Throw some granola in there and again its absolutely to die for. One of the other things I use it for regularly is on toast. We buy fresh bread every other day from our local bakery and Manuka Honey on fresh toasted bread is just as amazing as the yogurt. As for its antibacterial claims, its absolutely 100% true. My wife has a very mild case of eczema but a couple times a year it acts up and can get pretty bad. The episodes usually last a week or two. She literally has like 10+ different kinds of hand lotion specifically aimed at treating Eczema. When I first told her about Manuka Honey she was extremely skeptical, in regards to what it could do for her skin, but since we already had some she said she would give it a try. Sure enough like 6 weeks later her Eczema stated acting up, mostly on her hands. Before she went to bed She applied a very light coating over the affected areas and then put on a pair of my Light Impressions cotton gloves. I use the gloves when matting or handling my photography prints. They are extremely light and are made of 100% cotton. It only took 2 nights of this and her hands were back to normal. She was absolutely BLOWN AWAY. To give you an idea of just how impressed she was, she wound up ordered 6 more bottles that same week. Since then she has had multiple outbreaks and each and every time she uses the Manuka Honey. Her collection of hand lotions are doing nothing but collecting dust. Bottom line - Manuka Honey is good for you, tastes great and it has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties. Its like liquid gold. It now has a permanent spot on our shelves. Yes, it is more expensive than regular honey but this is one of the cases where you get what you pay for. Its absolutely worth every last penny. This is one train you want to get on. 5 Stars and then some!!

Pure, Delicious, and Healing
Wedderspoon Raw Premium Manuka Honey is hands down one of the best honeys I’ve ever used. The taste is rich, smooth, and naturally sweet without being overpowering. Beyond flavor, the quality truly shines — you can tell this is a premium product. I love using it in tea, on toast, and even by the spoonful when I feel a sore throat coming on. It’s also great for soothing digestion and supporting overall wellness. Knowing it’s raw and carefully sourced makes me feel even better about sharing it with my family. Yes, it’s a little pricier than regular honey, but the benefits and quality are absolutely worth it. A staple in my home that I’ll keep reordering.

Manuka magick!
This is an excellent quality Manuka Honey product. There is a bit of confusion over the UMF, MGO and OMA rating thing. UMF is the original and trademarked. MGO is a newer rating system that does not directly correlate to UMF but is accurate nonetheless. OMA is Wedderspoon's own rating system for determining activity within the raw honey. From my reading it appears to be pretty equitable to UMF. This honey is also USDA Organic certified (although that doesn't mean as much these days) to ensure that there are no additive ingredients to the product. As for usage, I have two jars of this honey. I used the first on my wife's wounds following MOHS surgery for removal of skin cancer. The results were amazing and the surgeon and plastic surgeon both asked what we were using to allow the wounds to heal up so quickly with minimal scarring. There was also a staph infection as a result of the surgery that the honey took care of as well. It takes a bit of diligence to ensure daily dressing changes with fresh honey, but the results pay off. I ended up pre-soaking gauze with the honey and sandwiching between two layers of plastic wrap to create more manageable "bandages". These were used by my wife when she traveled in addition to direct application to the cleaned wound bed. Basic process: Clean wound with Hydrogen Peroxide, follow with colloidal silver in nebulizer, then drizzle honey into wound and cover wound with pre-soaked gauze pad. The last bit is to cover the pre-soaked pad with a waterproof dressing like a Telfa-style pad to reduce oozing onto clothing/bedding. Care must be taken in finding adhesives that do not irritate the skin too much with the frequent dressing changes. There are also larger waterproof wound dressings with silver-impregnated that might be a good combination. Main idea is to minimize air-space and keep honey in constant contact with wound bed. If this all sounds new, do some research on honey for wound care at the University of Waikato in New Zealand courtesy of Dr. Peter Molan. Note, this honey is not "sterilized" via gamma radiation (which is not supposed to reduce activity in the honey like pasteurization) but is still highly effective. Honey is resistant to most any spoilage due to its activity and the sterilization process is just an extra step some honey manufacturer's take (Comvita or Summerglow) to be able to sell their products as medical devices in the US. It will allow the honey to be FDA-approved. Again, as I understand this is not a requirement but is done largely to gain approval for medical usage in hospitals and clinics. Check out Medihoney dressings. BTW, I have also used this topically on oral canker sores with great effect! Sores dissappeared in days and not weeks! Applied directly 3 x day. Lastly, the other jar I use for tea and even coffee and it is delicious. It has a strong floral taste and finish (as would be expected) and is alittle more viscous than other Manuka honeys I have tried. I have tried nearly all Manuka honey brands from NZ as I visit often and find this to be a great option for those of us who need a high-quality active raw Manuka honey without paying a load for shipping up the stuff from down under. Or you can just ask a friend heading that way to bring you back some :P

Working so far!
Let me first say that I love honey, and I truly believe in the healing powers of the magic golden liquid. Those out there who have never experienced any honey other than the clover honey so common in the U.S. have never lived. It was when I lived in Yemen for three years that I discovered my love for honey, because it was there where I discovered Sidr honey, which is absolutely, hands-down, the best honey I have ever tasted in my life. There you can get it for about $60/kilo ($28 or so per pound)...if you get it in Europe or the U.S., expect to pay $150/kilo or more. In my opinion, it was worth it, and I consumed at least 1/2kg (roughly a pound) per month. Sidr, like Manuka, is quite potent, and so long as i ate it, i never was sick: no stomach bugs, no head colds. Meanwhile those around me without the honey were constantly sick with GI infections. That brings me to Manuka. I have recently started experiencing H.Pylori-like symptoms (dyspepsia stomach pain). I do not trust most doctors anymore for any GI issues, because my travels around the world have brought me my fair share of GI bugs, and the doctors almost always fail to help. Three things I've always used that NORMALLY work: Oil of Oregano (good for giardia, e-coli, entamoeba hystolitica, etc), Grapefruit Seed Extract (good as an antiseptic and water disinfectant), and Sidr honey (good for preventing bugs). However, whatever it is i have this time has not responded to any of those. So, after extensive research, I was encouraged by what i read about Manuka...plus I love honey and i've always wanted to try it. So i ordered some. Although I still have not received my shipment from Amazon (i just ordered it a couple days ago), I found the same exact honey (Wedderspoon Active 16+) in my local organic food market, for only $32 ($5 less than Amazon). Because i wanted relief from the pain NOW, i was willing to buy a second bottle. I've only started taking it today, so I will post a follow-up in a week or two. But let me just say, this is some STRONG honey. You can smell the antiseptic nature of it, and you can taste it (almost a hint of pinesol). It is very thick (somewhere between regular clover honey and honey butter) and somewhat creamy. Flavor-wise (beyond strength), it is pretty good. However, it is absolutely nowhere even close to Sidr on taste...I devour Sidr off of the spoon...this stuff I would only consume for medicinal reasons...and I'd also say that Tupelo tastes better as well. Having said all that, medicinally, a spoonful (straight) of this stuff hit my stomach like a freight train, partly because of the acidic nature of honey, and partly because it was going to work. The first round made me feel a bit light-headed as well. Both of those cleared up shortly. About 2 hours later i started experiencing a lot of mucus draining in my head (similar to what i get when i take oil of oregano), so I knew that it was in my bloodstream working on other matters as well. By the time i consumed my second dose (this time on a bit of a muffin--gluten free and dairy free), my stomach was already starting to feel a bit better. The second dose, possibly because of the muffin as a buffer, didn't hit my stomach as hard. For those with h.pylori: Please note that I also have an order of mastic gum on the way. Based on everything I've read, mastic gum seems to be the most effective cure. I'm hoping that between mastic gum and munaka, i'll beat this thing. I don't know if Manuka on its own is strong enough to kill all cases of h.pylori. To conclude: - Taste: Do NOT buy this for taste. It tastes good, but if you're going to spend $37/pound, find yourself some Yemeni Sidr honey...if you can find it in a very raw form, it is also quite a strong medicine. Also, Tupelo honey at about $7/pound tastes better than Manuka. - Medicinal Properties: This is some potent stuff...the most potent honey i've ever tasted. I've got high hopes, and it's possible that once my dyspepsia is gone, i'll keep an emergency bottle of this in the cupboard (honey doesn't really go bad) - Rating: Worth all five stars I gave it. I can't say it'll cure cancer, but it seems to be working on my stomach. Good luck.

Very Good Honey 🍯
Very Good Honey 🍯, Great for upset stomach. Very therapeutic effects. Great with Tea, or a small spoon by itself. Tastes Yummy 😋...... It's not a very high strength if that's what your looking for as far as Healing Effects, but strong enough for upset stomach, or small wounds on skin, or minor rashes. It works great for that

This is a great tasting raw honey with a mountain of healing benifits
This is a great tasting raw honey with a mountain of healing benifits. It's a bit pricey but we'll worth the money. Here are some Manuka Honey Nutrition Facts: What makes wedderspoon Manuka honey different is its amazing nutritional profile. Regular raw honey is already known for its tremendous nutritional and immune boosting abilities. Generally speaking, the typical raw unfiltered honey is a rich source of: (2) Amino acidsB vitamins (B6, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid), Calcium, Copper, Iron, Magnesium ,Manganese, Phosphoru, potassium, Sodium and Zinc Yet with Manuka honey, the nutritional content is up to 4 timesthat of normal flower honeys. This is what is called the Unique Manuka Factor. Unique Manuka Factor In 1981, researchers at the New Zealand University of Waikato discovered that Manuka honey has a considerably higher level of enzymes than regular honey. These enzymes create a natural hydrogen peroxide that works as an antibacterial. Some strains of this New Zealand honey are particularly rich in hydrogen peroxide, methylglyoxal and dihydroxyacetone. This medicinal trilogy helps make up what is referred to as the Unique Manuka Factor (UMF), a global standard in identifying and measuring the antibacterial strength of Manuka. (3) Essentially, the UMF is a guarantee that the honey being sold is of a medicinal quality. UMF is not found in the nectar of all Manuka flowers and, comparatively speaking, regular Manuka only contains the hydrogen peroxide antibacterial property that is common to most types of honey. What separates UMF Manuka from other Manuka varieties is that it has both the natural hydrogen peroxide and its own natural UMF antibacterial property, which greatly enhances it effectiveness. The UMF properties of Manuka is extremely stable and, unlike the hydrogen peroxide common in most honey, is not easily destroyed by heat, light and enzymes in the body. How to Verify Genuine UMF Manuka Honey The minimum UMF rating recognized is UMF5, however, it is not considered beneficial unless it carries a UMF 10+ level of antibacterial activity in the honey. Anything ranging from UMF10-UMF15 is a useful level, and anything UMF16 and up is considered a superior quality. Genuine UMF Manuka Honey will have these four things: It will have a UMF trademark clearly labeled on the front of the container. It will be from a New Zealand UMF licensed company and labelled in New Zealand. It will have the UMF company’s name and license number on the label. It will have a UMF rating number of 5-16+. If it is labeled without the UMF or without a number, then it is not the genuine article. According to the UMF association the UMF rating actually tests the antibacterial performance of a honey and compares it to phenol, a disinfectant. The Active Manuka Honey Association(AMHA) that does the testing states: “The presence of the special non-peroxide activity can be detected only by an array of scientific testing directly relating to the phenol standard. The rating has a one-to-one relationship to the phenol standard. “ This means that a UMF rating of 20+ is equivalent in strength to a 20% solution of phenol. The ideal UMF rating varies depending on your purpose, but laboratory studies have shown that manuka honey with a non-peroxide activity level of UMF12 to UMF15 is effective against a wide range of very resistant bacteria. Here is an explanation of what manuka honey UMF you should use: 0-4 Non-therapeutic 4-9 Maintenance level with general honey health benefits 10-14 Supports natural healing and bacterial balance 15+ Superior levels of phenols that are highly therapeutic but shouldn’t exceed taking 1 tbsp at a time Top 10 Manuka Honey Benefits Manuka honey health benefits have been touted in the natural health world for a long time and even more in recent years because a growing body of research is starting to support thousands of years of folk medicine use. Some of the top Manuka honey uses are: 1. SIBO, Low Stomach Acid, Acid Reflux Small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), low stomach acid and acid reflux go hand-in-hand. Because of Manuka honey’s known natural antibiotic qualities, it is a great medicine for any bacteria related disorder. In fact, in a recent study, one dangerous bacteria related to all three conditions, Clostridium difficult was found to be quite susceptible to Manuka honey’s bactericidal effects. (4) So taking Manuka honey is very beneficial at reducing reflux and balancing your digestive system to heal stomach and intestinal imbalances. 2. Acne and Eczema The Internet is filled with patient testimonials that Manuka honey works marvelously for acne and eczema patients. At this time there are no clinical trials to support these claims, but this doesn’t bother me at all. Taking into account its proven antimicrobial and healing properties, it makes every bit of sense to assume that honey can help with these skin conditions. Most people claim that applying honey on affected areas for a few minutes, and then washing off with gentle soap and water usually does the trick. Repeat this every day or every other day for the best results! 3. Staph Infections (MRSA) You’ve probably heard of the super bug that has plagued hospitals the past several years, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (or MRSA). What has happened is that antibiotic overuse and drug ineffectiveness has caused certain strains of Staph to become virtually indefensible using typical hospital and nursing home medical protocols. Spreading so rapidly, most people affected by MRSA end up getting so infected that they require invasive procedures or devices such as surgeries, artificial joints or intervenes tubing to save their lives (5) This past March, however, UK researchers from Cardiff Metropolitan University have offered us some natural hope. They discovered thatManuka honey down-regulates the most potent genes of the MRSA bacteria. Some scientists now suggest that regular topical use on cuts and infections (especially in the hospital and nursing home setting) may keep MRSA naturally at bay. 4. Burns, Wounds & Ulcers According to a recent article in theJundishapur Journal of Natural Pharmaceutical Products, “The use of honey leads to improved wound healing in acute cases, pain relief in burn patients and decreased inflammatory response in such patients.” (6) Moreover, because of its rich anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory characteristics, Manuka honey has been shown to prevent infection in people with venous ulcers. (7) It has also been used quite effectively as a wound dressing to promote rapid, improved healing. 5. Tooth Decay & Gingivitis Several studies have come out recently describing how Manuka honey can help cure gingivitis and periodontal disease. Due to its superior antimicrobial properties, researchers from the School of Dentistry, University of Otago (Dunedin, New Zealand) discovered that chewing or sucking on a Manuka honey product not only caused a 35% decrease in plaque, it led to a 35% reduction in bleeding sites in people suffering from gingivitis! (8) Also calcium, zinc, and phosphorus are all important nutrients for healing teeth. 6. IBS and IBD When evaluating the effect that Manuka honey has on experimentally induced inflammatory bowel disease in rats, researchers from Chandigarh Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research discovered several astounding findings: (9) Manuka honey at different doses provided protection against TNBS-induced colonic damage. There was significant protection with Manuka honey 5 g/kg as well as with 10 g/kg body weight compared with the control. All the treated groups showedreduced colonic inflammation and all the biochemical parameters were significantly reduced compared with the control in the Manuka honey treated groups.Manuka honey at different dosesrestored lipid peroxidation as well as improved antioxidant parameters. Morphological and histological scores were significantly reduced in the low dose Manuka honey treated group. In the inflammatory model of colitis, oral administration of Manuka honey 5 g/kg and Manuka honey 10 g/kg body weight significantly reduced the colonic inflammation. So Manuka honey not only healed intestinal inflammation and pain, but also repaired free radical damage, and protected against further damage! 7. Sore Throats and Immunity In 2007, data published in the Journal of Leukocyte Biology suggested that, “A 5.8-kDa component of Manuka honey stimulates immune cells via TLR4.” (10) This is interesting because previous studies have indicated that honey stimulates cytokine production from human monocytes. Coupling with this 2011 research showing how Manuka stops the growth of sore throat-causing Strepbacteria, it is no wonder that so many people benefit almost instantly from taking a spoonful of honey when they don’t feel well. (11) And recently it has even been approved by the National Cancer Institute to be used to heal inflammation in the throat from chemotherapy! 8. Allergies and Sinusitis There are many anecdotal accounts of people receiving allergy relief after eating honey are all over the internet. There is even a study with honey and birch pollen that had remarkable results. The participants were given regular honey, honey with birch pollen added to it, and some used only their allergy medicines as a control group. The results were impressive: “…patients reported a 60% lower total symptom score, twice as many asymptomatic days, and 70% fewer days with severe symptoms, and they used 50% less antihistamines compared to the control group.” They also found that there was very little difference between the birch pollen honey users and the regular honey users! So, taking Manuka honey on a regular basis can really help your seasonal allergies and lessen your need for medications!(12) 9. Beauty Treatment & Health Booster Taken daily Manuka honey has an elixir effect that boosts energy and enhances your quality of life.Because of its nutrient dense profile, it boosts vitality, youthful energy, and has been known to improve skin tone and texture. Use it in a homemade face wash to exfoliate and fight free radicals in the skin. Use it in your shampoo or a hair mask, to boost the shine of your hair. One of my favorite uses is in a detox drink, to get the most benefits inside and out! 10. Improves Sleep Manuka Honey helps to promote restful deep sleep. It slowly releases the glycogen needed for essential bodily functions during sleep. Adding honey to milk at bedtime helps the body release melatonin into the brain which is necessary for deep sleep. There are many health disorders associated with poor sleep such as, heart disease, type II diabetes, stroke, and arthritis. Since honey is proven to aid in quality sleep; it also helps lower the risk of these and many other heath problems. This raw Manuka honey gets 5 stars and a strong recommendation to buy as it has help me and my family in soooo many ways. ****** If you enjoyed my review please vote this review as helpful and feel free to ask me any additional questions and I'll answer them to the best of my abilities.
