SEEDS ARE DEFECTIVE
i purchased a tomato and marigold kit about a month ago. i planted it the same day i got it in the mail & followed all instructions to a T. i usually have no trouble getting things to grow you could say i have a excellent green thumb but this has not germinated at all!! it seems a little bit of fuzzy white mold has started to form too so i put a hole in a bottom of the pail. im not sure if this will fix the issue or not as it has been about 2 and a half weeks now. germination time on the package said 7-14 days but its been longer then that for certain. not sure if i just got a bad batch and could get a replacement sent? amazon says that i have til the 24th of this month to return but i don't have enough time on my hands to deal with mailing back.

Better in concept than execution
THE GOOD:Buzzy generally sends good seeds, and they guarantee that they'll sprout, or you can request a free replacement from their site. The growing medium is also a good starter mix that contains a decent blend of materials (retains water nicely without getting over-soggy), as well as fertilizer to get your plants started. I had plenty of sprouts for each herb (enough that I had to thin out a lot of seedlings). The handles on the basin are functional, not just decorative, which means you can hang them from hooks or tie them up to suspend the container, e.g., from a railing. They've also switched up the packaging to make it more shipping-friendly, with the growing medium discs contained inside a bag instead of banging around loose and breaking up all over everything.THE SO-SO:The container has no drainage, making it wayyyy too easy to overwater your herbs. It is, however, very simple to add holes to the bottom. Personally, before adding the growing medium and planting the seeds, I just hammered in drainage holes with an awl (several along the middle of the bottom, and several along the edges of the bottom seam), then lined the bottom with a cut-to-fit oblong piece window screen replacement mesh to keep in the dirt from falling out.THE BAD:Unlike several other Buzzy seed kits I've used, there isn't enough growing medium to comfortably fill the entire container, making a shallow container effectively even shallower. The container is also way too small for the included plants, both in depth and in width. You can start your plants in it, but if you want them to thrive, you'll need to transplant them pretty early on to separate, larger pots.

Super cute for gift exchange
I needed a small item for a gift exchange. This was a great option for a group when I didn’t know everyone’s likes. Just in time for spring.

Pays for itself
I planted my seeds with this seed kit 11 days ago and they have sprouted and are growing well. This is a really simple kit, perfect for by a window. This was also a fun and educational activity to do with my 5 year old son as a bit of a science project. We can’t wait to be able to use some fresh herbs in our cooking. I did find a similar kit of the same brand cheaper at Walmart, however it will pay for itself with fresh herbs regardless so I am still satisfied.

Maybe I'm Not a Green Thumb But This DId Not Work Out
Followed the directions, the germination process for the Basil and Cilantro seemed to work well however, and perhaps it was my error the Cilantro and Basil grew well beyond how I had it covered with plastic so I removed the plastic wrap. The chives were starting to germinate but they didn't grow being two or three sprigs I seen. Very lightly watered it, feeling the soil to see when I thought it was necessary and mold ended up on the soil. After doing some research it stated a bit of mold wasn't the worse but that maybe it was being watered too much. The thing was, it didn't seem like the plants were doing well regardless if I watered it too little, or "too much". My watering technique was to use a pray bottle and just get the surface a bit wet so it was never that I drowned the plants, or did it daily. I know the directions stated to add some fertilizer to the water and did at the specified ratio. From then seemed as if my plants rushed to die then researched and seen that perhaps the fertilizer made it too acidic. Either way, a month and a half of care, and proper sunlight on a windowsill and they couldn't survive. Not the best green thumb, but I've had other plants survive with my care so I don't know what the deal was.
