Small Post Holes In Clay Soil
Had to dig some small post holes in clay soil (north Texas) and decided to try this out. I only had an 18v cordless drill available, but it seemed to hold up on the highest torque setting. It likely benefited from getting a slight cool down period for each time I needed to clean off the clay soil from the auger. It doesn't weigh too much but I definitely supported it on its own rather than putting too much stress on the drill's chuck. My first post hole to 2 feet deep (it's only a pole for fencing a duck run) took about 25 minutes, but it could be faster without taking a video or the 5 year old child "helping" me. Seems to work quickly enough but the clay would be challenging for any tool since it's so sticky. If you have less sticky conditions then your speed will be better. This was done in somewhat damp soil (mid spring after some rain). Overall I'm satisfied with the product and would use it again to use the drill instead of a traditional post hole digger. It also takes up less space and was cheaper!

Perfect for turning the compost pile
I use this to turn my compost pile, when I don't have the time to shovel the whole pile. Especially helpful when the compost is inside of a bin. It has the right width (4 inches) and right length. High quality, fits nicely in my cordless drill.

It's HUGE but be careful
we started the hole with a battery operated drill and finished it with a brand new electric drill but I can only upload one video so I can't show both but here's what happened. It worked GREAT at creating the hole, no problems there BUT... When we used our BRAND NEW battery powered drill to create one hole it overheated and we had to stop before the hole was finished so he switched out to a BRAND NEW electric drill and by the time we were finished (apx 30 seconds) the new electric drill was smoking and ended up fried but the battery powered one is okay because he stopped in time. The bit itself is great but it is really hard on your equipment and it cost us an expensive piece of equipment. He has been building homes, small engine repair and doing handyman work his entire life so he knew what he was doing, it wasn't exactly a human error thing but in hindsight, do your hole bit-by-bit, don't dig the entire hole in one try, take breaks even on the smallest project and check your drill often. Our project was creating a hole to put a fence pole in for a chicken coop run and the hole wasn't exactly excessive but using the bit is just really really hard on your drill. It didn't start smoking until he finished, immediately after I stopped filming so the drill was ruined before we ever knew there was a problem and the drill ran for only the short time shown in the video. Overall the bit itself is great but be VERY careful with your equipment. To use it just to plant a bulb it should be okay but I don't recommend using it for fence post holes of any size because the bit itself will do it but your drilling equipment might not. *If this review helped you let me know by hitting the Helpful button. Great for the garden!
This augar saved my husband from the yearly post hole diggers in the garden!! Plus the time savings was a bonus. He could drill a hole in just a minute. However from the start it was intended to use the Milwaukee impact drill with this augar & it worked perfectly. There is no way a regular battery powered drill would have the power or torque to effectively power the augar. Side note to the seller of this product please reveal the information above regarding the drill info. It’s info that people need to know who are considering purchasing this augar.

Save Time, Physical Effort and Your Back
This auger makes quick and easy work of planting 250 or so green house starts in my garden each Spring. I can probably do 10 each 4 inch diameter holes by 6 inches deep in about 2 minutes. It works nicely in soil that is not heavily compacted or dried out hardened clay. A word of caution, the auger can hang up completely on tree roots or rocks depending on their size. If the auger does hang up, the user better be maintaining a good grip on the 3/8 drive drill or it will forcefully pull free of their grasp. I would be leery of chucking the auger up into a 1/2 drill due to their higher torque output and increased possibility of injury from a possible hang up.

Great buy
This was excellent. Used it to dig out holes for new fence posts. This made the job ten times easier. Works with a normal drill as well. I saw some reviews of burnt out equipment but they probably didn’t use it correctly. Great purchase.

Auguer tip is dull
Drill tip is pretty dull, it doesn't work on harder soil.

Powerful
I've used this several times to get started on planting and setting in poles. Had it for some time; no sign of rust or deterioration. Attaches easily to my drills. You have to keep a close eye on how much power you apply to it otherwise it will almost run away from you.

I like the look and idea of this product but immediately from attaching it I noticed the problem. The bit is crooked from the drill attachment! Even eyeballing it you can notice it’s not centred so the drill bit wobbles like crazy when used. Going to have to return this for a refund or ask for another which I hope is better!

This Dill attachment performed far better than I ever expected. It easily drilled down 4 feet through tree roots, hard dirt with stones so I could fill hole with cement and install a steel post. Suggest when you are operating this drill attachment, be sure to wear safety glasses, and I would also recommend gloves. Practice at slow speeds first to get the hang of it. If you hit a root at full speed you will receive a surprise that will give you a real jolt. Go slow, a bit at a time, lift drill out of hole to remove dirt and then repeat. DO NOT OPERATE A FULL SPEED. Great product, Highly recommend.

Makes a good shaken cocktail. Maybe a cherry dispenser built in would be good

This little auger has been great. It's drilled holes deep and wide enough to use dead fall as fence posts. We added rails and it's been strong enough to withstand full size horses leaning/pushing up on it. The end that sits in the drill easily strips so be careful of that and make sure to brace for hitting roots/rocks, but otherwise a solid purchase.
