Works well but for was hoping for a little more...
I have had this "People's Republic of China" made spice milling device in use for about one month now... When I got it, the cost was a whopping $45 dollars so I was really expecting big things from it... Unfortunately my expectations for such a costly salt and pepper shaker were not met; however, In the past month, they have ground down the price to a mere $28 (which is still pretty "salty" for a Chinese made salt and pepper grinder that does not operate via battery with the simple touch of a button). For starters,, this unit is easy to open and fill and and it's also simple to operate (with two hands) so that's a plus, but the capacity is a bit lacking IMO... The unit does come with clear plastic endcaps called "aroma caps" that keep any grindings from falling out when not in use and which also keep out dirt and dust... These caps are either on or off- they do not stay connected to the unit so they can be used or not used depending on your preference.I do have a couple complaints about this marvelous "German design & engineering"... First off, it is next to impossible to fill the unit enough so that both the salt and pepper appear full at the same time... Only the spice that is actively on the top side appears filled... The unit would be much more aesthetic if the salt and pepper could easily both appear full at the same time... (it can be done with some effort and creativity but I'm not going there.) Secondly, there is a nice knurled adjustment knob on each end to set the consistency of your desired grind but my complaint is that there are no markings of any kind on the actual unit to tell you which way to turn for finer or coarser..... Now I don't know about you, but for me, a fancy German engineered hand cranked salt and pepper mill having a MSRP of $45, should certainly have a dial with, at a minimum, an engraved arrow indicating which way is coarser and which way is finer... I would also expect to see little numbered hash marks every 5 or so clicks of the adjuster knob which would show you what setting you are currently on so that you can easily return to your favorite setting without a copious amount of trial and error... (Be sure you read my last paragraph correctly, this unit DOES NOT have any markings which I feel it should... I'm just trying to offer the German engineers a friendly suggestion) Thirdly- and this is not really a complaint but an observation. This device is quite slender and tall, and since its both a salt and pepper mill in one, it naturally is not tapered nor weighted more at one end to prevent tipping, Both ends are, however, somewhat weighted... I mean yea, it does stand upright nicely without any issue but I could see it getting knocked over while on a less than sturdy table that gets bumped... With what you get for the cost, I cannot recommend this; but only because of the cost since it is made in China... If it were made in USA, I could see it being a bit more expensive... That being said, it is a very functional unit that works well. So if you like the look of this (I do), and having one spice that is never "filled" is not an issue, and you have the cash to drop on this then I say buy it now.... 4 stars given, strictly because it does seem to function well...

Looks NIce, Works Very Well, Easy To Fill, Is It Worth $45?
This is a very sleek looking and functional steel and glass salt and pepper grinder. It grinds both very well and spits out fresh ground pepper and salt just as well as anything you would find in a fancy restaurant. It is very easy to load and close up. The grinder comes with two plastic pieces to cover the respective ends of the grinder where the salt or pepper comes out. It is fairly compact and a little on the heavy side.It doesn't hold all that much salt or pepper but there is probably enough in there for a family for a couple weeks anyway. One thing I wonder about is the ability to clean it. For the pepper side that probably doesn't matter much. With the flood of flavored salts on the market these days, what happens if I put a ghost pepper salt in the grinder and want to revert back to a regular salt? Will the ghost pepper spice completely wash out of it? I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.If this grinder lasts for 20 years then maybe it is worth the hefty $45 price tag. I don't know that I would spend that much for this grinder but if it is still working 10 or 20 years down the road then I guess at that point we'll know if was worth $45.There is nothing wrong with this item in fact everything about it is well done and works well, the 4 instead of 5 star rating is due to the price.

Sturdy, holds up to use well
This is made well, it grinds salt into almost dust (if you want because it’s adjustable). It does a great job with pepper and it also holds a fair bit more of both than I first thought. The only thing that bugs me is if someone puts the top on too tight because it can be a pain to remove. Other than that and the fact I wish it was cheaper are the only things I can note as a con.Pros:Grinds very wellHolds a lot of salt and pepperLooks niceSturdy/made wellCons:Not the cheapest

Durable - Looks like glass but it’s not.
The design is elevated. It looks like a piece of art on my table. When filled, the grinder looks even more special. An added bonus is the covers for each side that keep the shaker and your table clean. The grinders are listed as ceramic- they work very well and are easy to adjust for coarse to fine grinding. The grinder fits in one hand well and isn’t too large for a table. The issue is that the artistic style means the grinder is not easy to fill. You can fill it quickly but, as soon as you flip the grinder over to fill the other side you find that you can barely see the spice you’ve already added. It becomes a chore f you attempt to add more. The current $45 MSRP may warrant looking elsewhere.

Interesting conversation piece
Pros -- It looks pretty cool- Unique conversation piece- Grinds wellCons -- You can't fill it very much. The grinder section and the glass section have about the same carrying capacity on each side and you can only fill one or the other when you open it (the other being upside down when you close it and dumping out). Because the grinder side isn't see thru, even when it's full, the salt or pepper on the bottom isn't actually showing thru the glass (still get a reflection, but the image is a little misleading)- Sort of pricy

Sleek, but maybe a bit too sleek?
This is a beautiful salt and pepper grinder. The clear center portion is fairly thick acrylic that should not break easily. Filling each side is easy.My issue are the freshness caps that are rather hard to pry off. Maybe a screw-on cap would have been better? Of course they can be left off during use, but people with compromised hands should know this. While pretty and slender, this grinder might also a bit more prone to falling over with careless placing. The grinder is fully adjustable on both sides from coarse to fine by turning the internal screws on the grinding mechanisms. This is a classy looking grinder. Recommended with the above comments.
