Useful (And Relatively Inexpensive) Tool for a DM
This box is packed with miniature standees to represent practically any humanoid (friend or foe) you might want to populate in your campaign world. The art is detailed and pleasant, fitting in nicely with the terrain tiles and monster standees I use (Dungeons and Dragons Tile Sets and Pathfinder Bestiary Box respectively). While most interactions with NPCs are done "theater of the mind" style in my gaming group, there are times when my party ends up in a place I know, and can prepare, which allows me to populate a map with people they can interact with. This, just like any other physical prop I bring to the table, always seems to enhance my player's enjoyment during a session. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to bring humanoid miniatures into your DM toolset, this is a great way to start.

Sturdy Pawns at a Fraction of the Cost of Miniatures
These pawns are great, and so far I have purchased Bestiary 1 and 2 and the NPC Codex boxes. They are very durable and much cheaper than miniatures. The only problem I have with the Bestiary Pawns is not really reflected in the NPC Codex box because I wouldn't need more than one or two pawns of most of these NPCs, other than guards which have several (and there are several that would pass as guards).

Bring you characters to life, inexpensively
I lack any sort of artistic inclination and this fact combined with the price and size of miniatures was hindering my enjoyment of Pathfinder. Then I found the Pathfinder pawns series. beautiful illustration on sturdy cardboard, this and and the Bestiary Box will be enough to get me through quite a lot of adventures and for a fraction of the cost of miniatures. Combine these with the Pathfinder Maps and really be able to interact with and fine tune your fantasy.

Should be 5-stars if not for the organization problem
These pawns are pretty good! They are printed on sturdy, thick boards that are easy to punch out and organize by character class. Each pawn in the NPC codex has "NPC," its name, and its number written on it, so you won't have to worry about figuring out which box a particular pawn belongs to if multiple boxes get mixed up. The numbers and NPC "names" are printed on the pawn and listed on the back of the box for easy reference. The pawns are beautifully illustrated, and there are multiples of common character types (like having six beggars, for instance). These are a really great, affordable alternative to buying hundreds of miniatures, which become extremely difficult to store and organize if you have a lot of them.Pawns, too, are hard to keep organized if you punch them all out, so I suggest looking into a binder with trading card pages for organization, or search Amazon for "Stanley 014725 25-Removable Compartment Professional Organizer" if you want something that you can really haul around. One organizer will fit an entire box of pawns.I took one star off my review compared to the other 5-star reviews for the bestiary boxes because I am a neat freak (the 4-star rating is definitely due to a personal preference, and this box would get 5-stars otherwise). While the other boxes were organized by size, the NPC codex is organized by class. This means that while punching out your usual, medium-sized barbarians in numeric order, you may be passing over the seemingly randomly-placed small-sized barbarians in another board. I like to store the pawns in numerical order, but the random mix of sizes makes keeping the NPCs orderly a more frustrating experience than it has to be.Also, the names of the NPC pawns can be...oddly specific (the "Fastidious Sharpshooter" and four "Cutthroat Lawyers" come to mind, among others) and seem to have been named without much consideration as to what the illustration actually looks like.Other than these two, minor complaints, this is a fantastic box and is especially perfect when used in concert with a bestiary box or four. Highly recommended!

Lots of minis for Player Characters and NPCs
This product is great for new Dungeon Masters that want to improve their games with minis, but don't want to spend too much to do it. There's a huge number of diverse minis for any humanoid creature you could need. Need a high level Half-Orc Cleric? You've got one. Halfling Wizard? There are several to choose from. My players each chose a unique mini to represent their character, too!

Good, but not great
A nice set, however I have 2 big complaints. There was a wrinkle on one of the sheets which caused an ugly printing error on one of my sheets, making the bottom row of pieces all rather awful to look at. Also, the pieces themselves are oddly collected. Many copies of some very odd choices, and not enough mundane characters. The vast majority of pieces here are very gimmicky, and thus less universally useful. For example, if you want a monk you can choose between an old man with a sleep mask, a half orc girl with a huge ax, a ninja with nunchaku, and a few others that are too specific. Complaints aside, it is nice. The pieces do look nice, and it comes with a horse (one of my ugly pieces) and quite a few other animal companions/summons. Between this and the bestiary box I find that I have enough for most of my needs.

Solid Product
I recommend buying Plano Molding Boxes to store the pawns once you've removed them from their pop out. I use their Model 3750 box to store all of my Pathfinder pawns by alphabetical order as well as what subtype the pawns fall under. Other than the obvious storage issue, these make great stands for when you don't have minis. Just be careful to be gentle putting them in side of the bases. At time the cardboard can get damaged after multiple uses.

One of the best deals for fantasy RPG gaming.
This series of RPG game accessories is really awesome. I own this and Bestiary Box 1. It has all the essential monsters and with this set I have tons of characters to add as NPCs. It is a great way to get tons of miniature figures without paying thousands of dollars for this variety. Heck, I don't even play Pathfinder anymore and I still love it while I use it with Savage Worlds.
