Need it to be just a little bigger with a little higher walls, so a standart skein can roll inside free.

OMG, this little bowl is so beautiful and has made my life so much easier. The yarn isn't rolling all over the house and getting dirty. It also does all of this in a really beautiful way. It is a little SMALLER; than I thought it would be, but I solved that problem in an easy way. I like to use the 1lb skeins of yarn, which, YEAH, I guess they are pretty good sized. SO I stand the skein on the END and put that into the bowl and then take the center pull end of the yarn and thread it through the guide on the side of the bowl, then slide the bowl down into the bag, Yarn and all. I then tighten the string from the bag snugly, but not tightly around the skein of yarn and tie it in a bow, so it can be untied when need be. AND VOILA, problem solved. I love this little problem solving bowl.

I was looking at a couple of different yarn bowls and finally decided on this one as it was only 1 inch smaller than the larger sized ones you can get on Amazon and I liked the wood of this one better. First off, I was very disappointed in the size. Yes, I should have read the description better and pulled out a measuring tape to size my skeins of yarn, but the images were really deceiving and made it appear much bigger than it actually is. They must have used super small skeins for the images because they are able to fit two skeins plus needles in the bowl. I can’t even fit one of my regular sized worsted weight yarns inside. I would have to roll it up in a ball to make it fit, but I don’t think I’m willing to do that for every single project.Note, that all other yarn bowls I saw on Amazon seem to have this same size issue, in the images they appear to fit a whole skein, but even the “x-large” bowls at 7x4 inches would not fit my skeins. So I might have to just get a regular bowl and have my hubby cut out the yarn guide.Aside from the size issue, my bowl came with a very rough spot on the inside and a spot where the wood was patched with filler that extended though to the outside. Not very nice looking.I will be returning this item.

I had a hard time choosing which yarn bowl to buy, but this one looked the most natural, and stated it was made from walnut. It was worth the extra money. it is beautiful and looks like a piece of art on my coffee table, not a just a bowl to hold yarn. As for traveling, they included a cute little bag and that would be great for travel, just not sure I would carry the bowl with me to travel, but it certainly looks sturdy enough to withstand traveling.

Have been doing yarn projects for 60 years using a popcorn bowl to hold the skein of yarn. No more! Most important: If you know someone who 'has everything' and can't think of what to get her. Buy this Yarn Bowl. It holds a skein of yarn especially as the project grows - it is beautifully crafted with a unique notch for the yarn. No need to thread the yarn though a hole. Even when there is no yarn project going the bowl is like a piece of art. I put mine on a non-slip disc because my table has a slippery tile top. Overall, I am quite pleased with this purchase. The bowl is crafted of beautifully grained walnut, polished smooth and functions as it should for keeping the yarn in place. Though there was one small rough spot on the interior, it does not snag the yarn or otherwise affect the use of the bowl. Nice fabric bag came with this purchase, and everything was packaged neat and tidy in its own box. No odors with this bowl as some seem to have experienced with sheesam wood bowls. If you're looking for a wooden yarn bowl, I definitely recommend this one.

A much appreciated gift for a friend who loves crocheting.

This bowl is of fine quality. Very smooth so there is no chance of the yarn snagging, even in the small curled section. It would be a nice decorative piece on its own, that's how nice the wood and craftsmanship are. The cute bag is a nice bonus, too. It will hold yarn and supplies for projects in the works. I am satisfied with this item and recommend it to anyone thinking of buying it.
