PRETTY MUCH EVERY QUILT PATTERN YOU COULD HOPE FOR PUBLISHED IN A 4" SIZE. MANY OF THE PATCHWORK PATTERNS ARE TOO SMALL FOR ME TO SEW & MOST OTHERS I EXPECT, BUT THE PATTERNS CAN BE EASILY ENLARGED WITH A PRINTER/COPIER. I'D HAVE GIVEN THIS BOOK A 5 IF THE PATTERNS HAD BEEN LARGER, BUT THE SHEAR NUMBER OF PATTERNS MADE IT NECESSARY TO PRINT THEM SO SMALL. IT IS AN EXCELLENT COLLECTION THAT I HAD ORIGINALLY CHECKED OUT OF THE LIBRARY, THEN HAD TO HAVE ONE FOR MYSELF. SOME GOOD CLASSIC PATTERNS FOR BOTH PATCHWORK & APPLIQUE. SHOULD PROBABLY BE RATED 4.5.

What a book! If you are looking for so many ideas for quilts, this is it. Better Homes and Gardens has done it again. There are so many beautiful quilt blocks in this book, I can look at it for hours. I think I could use this book alone for many years to come. There is everything from the traditional quilt blocks we all know to those we never would have thought of. It is a new experience for me every time I look through this book. This would be a welcome addition to any quilter's library. If I were allowed only one book of quilt patterns, this would be it.

For someone who just wants to see the geometry of the block so I can produce one myself, this book is great. Yes, there are tips at the back, but I was more interested in the dozens of traditional blocks, the dozens of flower blocks, the dozens of applique blocks, the bird blocks, the log cabin varieties... Very good resource. I could only wish more color photos had been used.

This is my all time favorite pattern book!! If I could only afford one pattern book, I hope that is not so, this would be it! Loaded with 250 pages of patterns for patchwork, appliqué and many are easily adaptable to foundation piecing. Blocks are shown in 4" size but I have enlarged them on a copier with great success. Each of the blocks are shown in clear concise color photos. There are many wonderful themes scattered throughout the book, including: Teatime, Thirties, Flowers, Noah's Ark, and every holiday you can think of. The Preface offers 40 different projects you could make with these blocks, including wearable art.

I had already seen the book but was unable to find it in Barcelona, so I ordered to Amazon. Since I received the english version it will be an opportunity to review my english, too !!!The book is just what I wanted, more ideas to go ahead with my hobby: patchwork.

Love this one! Loaded with some of the old patterns I remember my Mom and Grandmother making. There are also lots of applique which I am now trying to master. Keep the books coming, we can always learn more!

This book is interesting to read and provides pictures of beautiful quilts and squares. Unfortunately, the directions they provide for actually making many of the squares are confusing, incomplete, and unusable. It is still a wonderful book to get ideas from and appreciate the beauty found in quilts.

I just started quilting and this book is awesome! I love the way they detail the blocks so you can see how they are made. I still can't "read" the instructions but the pictures are easy enough to understand(side note - I can't read patterns for sewing either so I depend on pics for that too!)

this is a must have for quilters, however, I have only given it four stars because there are no patterns. It would have been a fantastic book if it had included patterns.
