It's an acquired taste, but like fine wine, worth the price!
If you're looking for a low-cal, sugar-free version of say Panda-brand black licorice... well, this product might not work for you. If you have very little sugar in your diet, than your palette will likely love the explosion of flavor in these little gems. If, however, your palette is fed a steady diet of sugar or artificial sweetener, then you may find these candies to be bitter and unpleasant. I have experienced these licorice treats from both of those places.I had an all natural, sugar-free and artificial sweetener-free diet (also grain-free), and I (stupidly) slowly started letting a little sugar back into my diet. The regular sugar or molasses flavored licorice tasted great to me. (Well, duh.) After slowly gaining 20 pounds with the addition of sugar back to my diet, I decided to go completely sugar-free again, but I still wanted my sweet licorice fix. I decided to try this sugar-free product in place of my favorite Panda black licorice. Well, I hated them. I thought they were pretty nasty, as one reviewer put it, and came very close to throwing the whole bag in the garbage. But as my palette slowly readjusted to my sugar- and artificial sweetener-free diet once again, I began to really appreciate the flavor. Now I love them.Confessions of a lifetime sugar addict, secret eater, with a penchant for gluttony, and former diabetic:I have found that, for me personally, if I eat a lot of sugar, I don't like the taste of veggies, salads, etc., even some tart fruits. But when my diet is clean and free of sugar and artificial sweetener, then I love the taste of natural, unaltered whole, green foods. For my body type, I am healthiest on a Paleo-type diet. I was 5'2", 210 pounds when I decided to eliminate all sugar, artificial sweetener (because it destroys gut health) and grain from my diet. In one year, at age 49, my body shed 100 pounds, and I gained muscle tone, mental clarity, and eliminated all medications for high cholesterol, chronic pain and Type 2 diabetes. I suddenly loved the taste of raw, natural foods. Now that I am back to that diet/lifestyle again, I find that just one or two of these little licorice drops more than satisfies my desire for a little treat. I think they go great with my Stevia-sweetened caffeine-free (caffeine is another fat producer for my body type) coffee or the occasional half-glass of red wine. At age 55, I feel younger than I did at 40, and it is because I don't allow any sugar, grain, artificial sweeteners or processed foods into my diet. I have this theory that my body thinks I am starving if I am such a poor hunter that I am am reduced to eating grain (potatoes/corn/breads/wheat/oats/rice). My body thinks that it must be a time of hardship, and it stores every last calorie as fat. When I eat meat or fat, and eliminate all grain, my body releases all that stored fat, because it thinks I am now a good hunter and once again able to provide for it's needs. That's just me personally. I know we all have different body types, and some people swear by their vegetarian or vegan diet. That's wonderful it works so well for them. For me personally, all that grain just makes me pack on the pounds and causes a host of diet-related health issues. (By the way, our brains need protein and fat more than any other organ. Is the rise in Alzheimer's and Dementia in recent decades diet related? Check out Dr. Perlmutter in Amazon Books! I'm a believer!)My diet is lots of green veggies (love spinach, broccoli, asparagus!), mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic, organic chicken, grass-fed beef or bison, wild fish, our own organic eggs from our chickens, nuts (and my favorite homemade almond-cashew nut butter on tart apple slices), and only organic, extra virgin olive oil for cooking, salads etc. (All other oils are bad oils! Bad!) I drink water, homemade caffeine free tea (hot or iced), caffeine free coffee, and a half glass of red wine once or twice a week. Holiday splurges include my pear-persimmon-cranberry sauce (sweetened with a little honey) at Thanksgiving (substitute green salad for the potatoes and stuffing, add mushrooms, onions, and gravy in the green bean casserole), and chocolate mousse at Christmas (made from unsweetened coconut milk and sweetened with Stevia). Mostly, though, I don't really care about all those holiday food indulgences. I enjoy nothing more than a simple, crisp veggie salad with a little olive oil and balsamic drizzled over, served with a juicy, grilled ribeye and side of grilled asparagus and butter and garlic sauteed mushrooms. Savor with a small glass of red wine and... heaven... there's nothing finer! In closing, these little licorice treats are my one daily splurge, and I like that they contain so much flavor that I can be satisfied with just one or two pieces, and rest easy knowing that it's not a large enough quantity of artificial ingredients to destroy my clean palette or gut health. I can definitely recommend them to anyone with a low-sugar diet, or those wanting to go sugar and grain-free. It's a wonderful world once you break the chains of fast-food, junk-food, snack-food, processed-food and just-plain-sugar addictions. Simple food = simple life, good health, clean living, eating less, living more. As someone who works 10-12 hours a day at a desk during busy season each year, I can attest that it can be done, and moreover, you can have the energy and health to bear the extra sitting-on-your-but time.

I LOVE these licorice chips!!
I found these about 3 years ago and they are one of my favorite things! I love the size and taste. They are the perfect "breath mint" even though they do not contain mint. They are great to use as a cough drop and to settle upset stomaches. I love that they are sweetened lightly naturally! I make sure I always have three bags on hand at all times. I am constantly sharing them with all my friends.

Tastes like liccorice and has a good sweetener
These little pieces of liccorice candy are flavorful and taste like the real thing and are sweetened with stevia which is healthier and preferable. I would prefer if they didn't use artificial colors but overall this is a good product and I have ordered it several times.
