A Great Buy
We were looking for a reward for our grandson on his completion of his first year at school and obtaining a great report. At the age of 5 he is a huge fan of Lego so this filled the bill perfectly. Although it is suggested for an older age group, and has some 800+ pieces he absolutely loved it and tackled it at once with a little help from Dad (also a Lego fan!). Loved every minute, instructions are great, so well compiled and illustrated. An excellent buy.

Fun to build, but not very sturdy
This is possibly the first time I've been a little bit disappointed with a Lego build, and it is only a little bit disappointed, but it's fairly significant.Firstly, I will say that my son found it very fun to build, and it looks great. The fire engine and the station (or, the frontage of the station) looks great and everything from the doors to the fire pole work really well and it's great fun to play with. However, it's really not very sturdy. The door mechanism is quite fragile that almost any movement or bumps lead to needing to rebuild the door (it's mainly the 4 sloping bits at the front) - and when you try to fix one, if you're not super careful you may find the other coming apart too. I do appreciate that to get the door mechanism working the way it does it needs to be this way, but it feels like it needs extra support. We've even put it on a baseplate (which doesn't help much as they are quite flexible themselves) but it still breaks with not so much of a touch. I would imagine if it was part of a bigger, more solid based city build then you may have no issue, but for general play we have found it very frustrating,Aside from this issue, it was fun to build (although less fun to rebuild, and rebuild) looks great and the fire engine with its changeable ladder/"water" shooter is great fun to play with.
