Squirrels will barely touch it
Squirrels really don’t seem to like it, birds aren’t bothered by the spice

NO MO RODENTS; but, BIRDS R FIGHTING over this FOOD & now, a DIRTY CROW problem!!!
PROs:BIRDS LUV THIS STUFF!!!WHEN they have eaten ALLofIT, they hit their feet against the windows of our house 4 MO FOOD!!!NO MO RODENTS = NO MO squirrels & other rodents & even other mammals (i.e., bunnies, mountain lions, panthers, bobcats, foxes, cats, dogs, et. al.) even saunter in2 our foresty back 40 since this food!!! Come 2 think of it, we haven't even seen any 'gators making the trek from 1 lake 2 another. Apparently, any living creature that has lips, tongues, or soft paws, can't tolerate this UBER-HOT bird seeds.CONs:EXPENSIVE & PRICE just increased EVERYWHERE I've LOOKed (i.e., WM, Ace, gOOgle search).BIRDS R FIGHTING over this FOOD;& now, a DIRTY CROW problem!!! (WE HUNG an effigy of an upside down dead crow, & we keep moving it closer 2 the 'SQUIRREL-PROOF birdfeeders; but, MURDERSofCROWS continue 2 INVADE & SCARE & ATTACK the beautiful colored & song birds we DESIRE 2 C & hear. Next, I gOOgled the problem & another suggestion was 2 either place a real dead crow on the ground, or a fake effigy w/ red paint (so, crows can C it whilst flying & apparently, R supposed 2 get FREAKED out about). A LOOK on the BRIGHT SIDE, at least, we don't have ravens (a cuz'n of crows) bc they WOULD PECK any crow, or raven, as well as violate it's carcass = IF U get my drift!!! CAN U JUST IMAGINE Cing THAT???

It works!
I purchased this alongside some slightly less expensive seed back in 2010 - mainly because I wanted to offer some other types of seed than simply sun and safflower. I used a 50/50 mix for the '10 and '11 seasons and never saw troubles with squirrels. I also began with a good squirrelproof feeder and regularly putting out corn for them, so I was never sure if it was the chili oil or other measures that were keeping them away. Occasionally a squirrel would show interest, but they'd give up after just a few minutes of poking around the feeder.Sometime along the way, I installed a 'sparrow halo' onto my feeder (which worked shockingly well - kept the sparrows away while making no impact on my finches, cardinals, wren, or nuthatch). This placed two metal rods across the top of what was previously a steep, slippery roof of the feeder, but I'd never had squirrel problems, so I didn't mind compromising the squirrel-proofing.This year, I finally ran out of my Cajun blend and decided to try some other Cole's mixes. Mistake. Within two days, my largest, oldest, and apparently smartest squirrel was experimenting with different ways of hanging off my feeder to get to the seed. Within another day he'd discovered a way to hang upside down off my sparrow halo to defeat the weight-based latch on the feeder. The next day, I observed a younger squirrel trying and failing while the big one looked on, then the big one demonstrated his technique while the young one looked on... and now I've an entire squirrel family monopolizing my feeder.Bottom line: even 'cut' the Cajun blend kept the squirrels away far more effectively than I'd have imagined, and I obviously need to switch back to it.

The birds love this
Looked for a bird seed that wouldn’t draw mammals and this is the stuff!!!

Good Bird Seed
We don't have cardinals but this is the hot seed that was available. We like the hot seed because the squirrels don't jump on the feeder and we like seed that doesn't soak up the Seattle rain. I put some out this morning and the House Finches, Black-capped Chickadees, Dark-Eyed Juncos and a Red-breasted Nuthatch have been chowing down.

Birds LOVE the seed!
I have a huge problem with squirrels and deer in our area. This seed is more expensive but the amount that I am saving from the squirrels and deer not eating my seed is saving me more in the long run. I would say if you do not have a problem with squirrels or other animals you do not need Cajun. I have been using Cajun for years and it does hurt to spend that much on seed....the enjoyment I get from seeing the birds outweighs the cost.

Too expensive!
I like this birdseed but the cost is way too expensive. I can get the same product for a lot less at local stores. Just bought 10 pounds for around $30.

Good seed but price gouging
Always expensive seed but worth it to keep the squirrels away while feeding the birds. Unfortunately, the mourning doves love it but it's still worth it to see the cardinals and other birds enjoy it. However, the (already high) price has risen over $16 during the public health crisis. Really? Almost a 30% increase in price for a little something fun while staying in the house. Still have a bit left from my previous order but, when that's gone, the birds (and I) will had to wait until fall.
