Updated 1 star:Motor gave out. Replaced with the Yale approach as i have used other Yale smart locks with no problems and matter support has been confirming to be coming. I do not recommend wasting your money on this company.Old:I was under the impression that there were only two trusted renter friendly options for electronic locks. Neither of which are “matter” supported or support apple homekit. F.Y.I. there are more options available from other manufacturers that address this issue but the problems i encountered with this lock were, the lock’s center pieces did not fit my standard lock and I had to fill the space with some cardboard. The motor is super weak so you’ll probably have to file down the metal strike plate or the hole where the deadbolt latches as I did. Set up was easy and it’s relatively close to my router so i haven’t experienced any dropouts. It also doesn’t come with a sensor that lets you know if the door is open or closed. Only let’s you know if its unlocked or locked. I would not buy again.

I’ve had the Abode Smart Lock for a couple of days now, and honestly, I’m really happy with it.- Installation: I’m not great with tools, but I had it up and running in like 20 minutes. Didn’t even have to replace my existing deadbolt, it just fit right in.- Works perfectly with my Abode system: If you already have an Abode system, this lock is a no-brainer. I can lock and unlock my door from the app, which is super handy when I forget to lock up or need to let a friend in when I’m not home.- No more spare keys: I love that I can just give guests their own code instead of messing around with keys. You can even set the codes to expire, so it’s perfect for Airbnb guests or friends visiting for the weekend.- Smooth operation: It’s been really reliable so far. Whether I use the app, the keypad, or my home automation routines, it locks and unlocks without any issues. No jams, no weird glitches.- Solid battery life: It’s been a couple of days, and the batteries are still going strong, and if it keeps going this way, it should last me a couple of months on each charge.Overall, it’s been a great addition to my smart home setup. Super convenient, especially if you already have the Abode system. Definitely recommend it!

Terrible product. Very cheap. Do not buy. Spare yourself the angst and time.

Loses sync with keypad making the keypad codes invalid.Company expects me to test new beta firmware for them rather than refund me for the lock.

It’s ok when everything is working…but it’s rarely working. The lock frequently disconnects from the network or otherwise freezes requiring a hard reset. The keypad also randomly stops working and likewise needs a hard reset. The lock is too unreliable to be useful. I’m happy with our Abode system overall and I wanted to like this product, but I just can’t recommend it.
