Great action, great cinematography, awesome martial arts
If you love Asian martial arts movies, This one must see. You won't be disappointed. The story is well written and set to nice for me exotic lands (somewhere in Korea). I love historical movies from the different countries. They are very expensive to make. The martial art choreography is very unique using very creative weapons. It's really treats for martial arts movie lovers.

This is just a great movie!
No over the top special effects. No cheesy plot lines. The story uses a classic cultural plot with some very interesting twists. This movie is well written, well acted, and masterfully directed. I've watched it without the subtitles and it's still a great movie when I have no idea what is being said. But, you should watch it at least once with the subtitles if you don't speak the language. The script is outstanding with a good balance of artistic expression and necessary vulgarity. My favorite line is "Not bad for bait". This is simply a great movie.

I loved the movie
I loved the movie, but was very turned off by the translated sub-titles. Find it hard to believe a period piece like this would have so many of today's profanities and vulgarities. It's not that I have all that much against that kind of language, but in this context, it just sounded stupid! Also the music was more suited to a spaghetti western in places. Again, it just didn't go with the culture or time period of the subject matter.Other than that, the action, cinematography and actors were great!

Great mix of action with historical setting, from bandits to rice, laborers, and concubine heirs
The opener took a bit to get into, with the titled character, as the film established the setting with hokey things they were doing with kids. But as soon as the action happened, it just sped along to the end. I ended up buying this film, seeing many of the actors' other films in all the apps and other distributions. I liked how they made the villain almost superhuman like a superhero, and the corruption with it as the big hurdle that they must overcome. Lives are lost, and there is always a loss when you oppose their defined destiny vs. the worthy people. I love these Korean movies because it's more real in its portrayal of corruption, and how hard it is because of it.

Beautiful, frightening and simply superb
This film finally captures the visceral history of an almost forgotten era in Korea. Pitting the good against the bad, the peasant against the aristocrat KUNDO captures it in minute detail. At well over two hours you have to stay with the film, understand the multitude of personalities, and enjoy the over the top action, but it is really worth it. From start to finish this film will keep you at times on the edge of your seat as you worry about those characters you have come to appreciate, and the villainous ones you will also find yourself at times rooting for especially the bastard son who runs the country, and its people with a callous ruthless behavior which at times has you staring in disbelief or hitting the repeat button to watch his hatred filled delivery all over again. For action fans the fight scenes are simply superb both one on one and many against many. If you see but one Korean film this year ... this is it ... expertly captured by Well Go USA.

Must Watch
The story is very well told over the span of a few years with a stellar cast, and great acting. I loved every character but the villain was so good in this movie, he is probably my villain of the year! His hair and clothes were so well done, and his acting flawless. Some of the fight scenes were simply impressive, and I had to pick my jaw off the floor a few times. It had plenty of funny moments, great cinema, lots of actions and there's even some history to this movie. I liked the Western touch, it took on its own Korean historic movie direction with that, borrowing a bit from the Westerns, some interesting graphics at the beginning, and some of the usual Korean movie elements (like the swearing, emotional reach, etc). A really good movie, definitely worth watching.

Enjoyable movie; kind of like Asian version of Robin Hood, but more violent.
Typical worst history of mankind throughout the ages of those riches and powerful exploiting and oppressing the poor people and peasants. Then, the people revolts and fight back. Good acting and quite good swordplay combat choreographies.

Long and Senseless
I thought this movie was about 1 hour longer than it should have been. Also, what was with all of the penis humor and curse words? I really just don't know what to make of this movie.Epic swordsman of justice as imagined by a teenager who vandalized my time with his overdeveloped plot and lack of discretion. The Transformers of Kung Fu films!Might be worth watching once if you really like violence and have nothing else valuable to do with your time. I'd recommend buying a bag of chips and re watching an old Jet Li or Jackie Chan film instead.(even Donnie Wu, beggars can't be choosers)

Korean style Robin Hood
This Korean film concerns the 'Robin Hood' activities of the bandits calling themselves the Kundo who seek to receive the oppressed and the poor from the greed of the officials and noble classes. One member of the gang has an ulterior motive in that he is also seeking revenge for what has happened to his family. The film is framed against the politics of the era and the humanity (or lack of) of the parties involved with excellent fight scenes.

Robin Hood take where thieves and vagrants would take on the rich and powerful to return what they've taken from the poor. A hea
A very interesting take on revenge-action genre films. Robin Hood take where thieves and vagrants would take on the rich and powerful to return what they've taken from the poor. A healthy dose of western with horses, sunsets AND the guitar twanging. The actor playing the antagonist, Kang Dong-Won is incredible in this! Nothing mind blowing or award winning but a fun romp nonetheless in medieval Korea.
