Autism, money and murder
Damned fine read. Spoiler alert. This one starts with SalAnne Ramirez and her brother Charlie being kidnapped. SalAnn, called Silence, is autistic and most think she's retarded. Not so. Silence is gifted and is a genious. A fact most won't find out till the end of the story.Owen McKenna, all 6'6" and over two hundred pounds of him is asleep. Its four AM and he's awakened by Marlette Remmick at his front door screaming about her missing kids. Once Marlette divorced Shane Ramirez she took back her maiden name. Owen finally gets her inside and listens to her story. They all heard motorcycles, not surprising as it Granite Mountain Motorcycle week, then her kids were just gone. She thinks they were kidnapped by those on the motorcycles. As the story unfolds from Marlette Owen learns that Silence is autistic and has never spoken a word in her entire life. Hence her name Silence. Her brother Charlie has always been her protector though he's three years younger than her seventeen years. She and Charlie get along well and Marlette tells Owen that Charlie will do his best to protect Silence. Owen also learns that Silence is quite an artist. An artist who can draw anything and make it look like a photograph. Her artwork is phenomenal.Owen takes the case and immediately heads out to learn more about autism. He speaks with Henrietta a teacher and huge supporter of Silence. A Henrietta who knows Silence isn't retarded.Dr. Powers a psychiatrist is another he speaks with. Powers thinks Silence is retarded and will never be able to learn or communicate with anyone.Checking with some of his police friends he finds out that a band of bikers lead by a man called Tony Go are in Tahoe. Loads of rumors about he and his men. Seems they like the old Aztec method of sacrifice and the drinking of blood. Rumors that will prove to be false. So begins one damned fine read. This one has Owen, Spot, Street, Diamond, Captain Mallory, Silence, a Charlie who's body is found, a Charlie who was murdered, Tiptoe and Marky the two men who were hired to kidnap Silence, Michael Warner who turns out to be her biological father, a fact Marlette lets Owen know about, a Warner who is a physicist, a man who met privately Silence and let her know of his discovery, a discovery that got Silence kidnapped, a Tony Go who contacts Owen, a Tony who tells Owen what he and his men really do, a Tony who tells Owen neither he nor his men kidnapped Silence or murdered Charlie, a Tony who gives Owen his number and tells him to call if he needs his and his mens help, an Owen who takes him up on the offer, the raid of a house where they thought Silence was held, a raid that Owen instigated that proved to be oh so wrong, an Owen meeting with Emerson Baylor a venture capitalist, an Owen who finds out exactly what a venture capitalist does, Baylor and his group who had spoken with Wagner, a Silence who manages to get paper airplanes out the window where she is held, a neighbor who delivers them to the school and Owen McKenna doing his best to find this girl, take out the bad guys and find that Silence is far more than she appears to be.Good read five stars.

Amazing Series
I have now read 5 of Todd Borg’s books and they just keep getting better. Definite page turners where you don’t want to stop until you get the the last page.

great read
Author had to have done a lot of research. A page turner. This is his sixth book I have read and will be continuing through the entire series

Another Tahoe thriller
This time Owen rescues an autistic girl who is non communicative. Love his lady, Street and his dog, Spot. A great series taking place in North Eastern California.

A fantastic tale that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Imagine being fully aware of everything around you but completely unable to communicate.I don't want to give anything away but I will say this. The author has an amazing ability to put you inside the head of his characters. He has obviously done his research well. His characters are so believable that you'll be disappointed that you're not able to meet them in person. If this is the first novel you've read from Borg, go ahead and read it now. You don't really need the back story of his prior novels but I'm a firm believer that reading them in order from the beginning will add another layer of understanding. His novels build on each other and you find yourself hoping that in the next novel you might learn something new about a previous character or get a glimpse of how the future is going for them.Kind of sad that it's all fictional but in the other hand, nobody should ever have to experience the traumatic events depicted in his writings.I'm already buying the next story!

Once you start reading a Todd Borg mystery, you will have a difficult time putting it down.
Tahoe Silence is the 6th Owen McKenna mystery that I read. The first was Tahoe Chase, which I got for free via BookBud on Christmas Day. I had not heard of Todd Borg but I like mysteries and Tahoe is my husband's favorite place. So I figured I take a chance. Once I started reading; I didn't want to put it down. Prior to Todd Borg, all of my favorite mystery writers were British - I especially enjoyed Dick Francis. I was always disappointed when I read anything by an American. Now Todd Borg is my favorite! As soon as I finished Chase, I looked up Todd Borg on the Amazon web site and decided to read all of the Owen McKenna mysteries "in order". They are all a great bargain if you buy the kindle version. I was afraid that the early ones may not be as well written and exciting as Chase but that was definitely not the case. I would recommend reading them in order but it certainly isn't necessary. It is a pleasure getting to know all of the ongoing characters - Owen, Spot, Street, Diamond and others. It has been a while since I finished Silence so it is difficult for me to write a specific review. I'm about 50% through Heat now so I'm feeling sad that I only have 2 Owen McKenna mysteries left. I can only hope that Mr Borg is working on the 12th.

Borg is getting better and better
As I read this series in order, I see the writing evolution that Borg is going through. I’m really enjoying this series as it is set in my favorite place in the world, Tahoe. I also appreciate the different twists and turns and character development that he is perfecting. Looking forward to the rest of the series. One little complaint though,He didn’t really explain what happened to silence is biological father end why did he go to Tahoe for a two week vacation?

Very good read.
Great story. A pager turner, as well as interesting, since the character had a form of autism. Give it a try.
