Overall good; not as good if material has moisture
Overall these are good. I have six (was seven) and for dry materials, these work very nicely. They can produce a fine grating fairly quickly.I don't really care for the little door to fill and it would be nice if it held more, but is passable.A bit further on the negative size is that they are hard to clean properly. Basically I clean and submerge in water until I'm sure all the soap has been removed and then let it sit in front of a fan with the clear fill door open for a couple of days to make sure moisture is going from all inaccessible areas.I have two things that it did not work well. One is a lemon pepper seasoning for fish and it gummed up. The other is an Italian seasoning and it bind up and broke the shaft in one. So, lesson learned. In short, they are generally good and is a productive design but has limitations.BT recommended for most dry materials

Amazing grinder with one flaw
I've owned many pepper grinders and this one is hands down the best. I've purchased three of them and use them to grind Kirkland peppercorns and Kirkland Himalayan pink salt. The ergonomics are great, it's easy to fill, it grinds well, and it's inexpensive. I highly recommend this grinder, as it does exactly what you need it to, does it well, and isn't outrageously priced. However, the first two I purchased, after a year of use, broke. The same thing happened to the grinder my parents purchased. The handle breaks off. The shaft/axle the handle turns to grind the pepper/salt is made of steel. The part of the handle transferring the torque of your hand cranking the handle to this axle is plastic and obviously too weak to work long-term. Either this plastic needs to be of a higher quality or another material, like steel, needs to be used.To rectify the issue with my parents' grinder, they started using locking pliers gripping the steel axle of the grinder. I did the same with the second grinder that broke for me, but it's so heavy that it tips over and is also much less ergonomic/user friendly than the factory handle. Because of this, I've thought about a few different solutions.Today I tried a 6 mm quarter drive socket on the square axle. It fits well. The ratcheting action makes this setup very convenient and more ergonomic/user friendly than the locking pliers. Plus, the ratchet is simple to attach/detach from the socket on the grinder, so it no longer tips over. Unfortunately, it isn't too attractive and my tools are being used for the grinder, so I'll have to purchase another socket and ratchet to replace them.Although I love this grinder and highly recommend it, it isn't perfect. Hopefully the designers/manufacturers roll out an improved version. Until then, I'll use my simple DIY fix.

If you're black pepper junkie then this is the grinder for you!
I love black pepper. I love it so much i use obscene amounts of it. French fries? I'm gonna add so much pepper that the ketchup gets dark. Clam chowder? Spice it up!This little booger would get 10 stars if I could give it 10. It throws out pepper like you wouldn't believe, and it's easy to adjust the grind size. It also holds a lot more peppercorns than you'd expect, ad is easy to refill with a modicum of "cup your hand, hold this just so, pour in"

Excellent cheap pepper mill
I have two of these things now. You wouldn't think it to look them, or the price, but this is one of the best pepper mills I've used. I usually like a fine grind, and the finest setting this has is perfect for me. It grinds quickly and consistently. The handle length makes it easy to grind a lot of pepper, for my purposes anyway, fairly quickly. Be careful, if you try to grind more than maybe a tablespoon/15ml in less than about a minute, the grinding mechanism will get very hot due to the friction. I let it cool for a couple minutes if i need more than that, or just grind it slower. The grinding mechanism looks like plastic but I've confirmed it's actually white ceramic (both by poking at it and noticing that it can get very hot without warping).Outside of the grinding mechanism, the mill is completely made of plastic. So it's not exactly beautiful, but I've been using one for years no issues, which is more than I can say for the previous wooden one I got.
