DVI-I to VGA converter
I'll get this out of the way first: this is a one way converter ...it is NOT bi-directional. It adapts/converts a DVI-I connection to a VGA connection. The INPUT is DVI, the OUTPUT is VGA. Audio signals will NOT be passed through this converter; VGA cables are not made to handle audio signals, only video signals. So if there is audio to be passed along you will need to make a separate additional audio connection. While VGA cables have been around since the early days of personal computers, they *are* capable of passing Hi Def video signals. It would do you well, if you're not familiar with the subtle variances in DVI connections, to do some online research into the various DVI configurations; there is lots of easy to find information. Make sure you get the correct pin configuration to work with your situation.Overall, this is a high quality adapter. It's fit and finish are first rate and it works well. Video passed through this adapter is clean and shows no artifacts. Highly recommend for your DVI-I to VGA conversion needs.

Work great
The adapter worked as I had hoped it would. I used the adapter to connect a projector to my video card so that I could use it for art outlines.

Does what it's designed to do.
There's not much else to be said. DVI had to be one of these silliest connections for video that I have used in my life. Let's go over all 5 of them:DVI-D (Dual Link)DVI-D (Single Link)DVI-I (Dual Link)DVI-I (Single Link)DVI-A (Analog VGA)None of them will fit any of the others.

What I ordered was not what I was sent.
So, I work from home. I just started a new gig that is far more demanding than anything I've done before. So much so that my two-monitor setup wasn't cutting it anymore. Since I started in July I have been acquiring what I need to expand my viewing landscape to 3 or 4 screens. My system has the following ports:1 HDMI1 DVI15 pin VGA1 9 pin RGB/VGAIn my current setup, I have a 24-inch in the HDMI (it is the newest) and an older 22-inch in the 15-pin (about 12 years old).Because I just started this job, funds are tight, so I do not turn my nose up at used, even urgently used equipment. I nabbed 2 19-inch Dells for oh-so-cheap and they are both pre-HDMI, but post-9-pin RGB. They have a 15-pin and a DVI input. Both these inputs are female (putty-inny).So I went hunting for cords and adapters to hook up the Dells. I needed a DVI cable and an adapter to connect the 15-pin MALE (sticky-outty) to a 9-pin Female. I found all that and hooked things up. DVI works great, my system reads it fine. VGA got no love. The issue was not the monitor (DVI connection works) so went hunting for a DVI to 9-pin cable OR a DVI to 15-pin adapter. Enter this gadget. Excellent, exactly what I need.Take my money, please, and thank you.I spent almost all of Friday excited about the adapter because I would have all weekend to set up and tweak the system to be ready for Tuesday.Imagine my disgust when I got the exact opposite of what I ordered.Instead of a DVI Male to VGA Female, they sent a DVI Female to VGA Male.First, I made sure I ordered DVI/M-VGA/F. I did. Then I made sure they sent me the wrong thing. They did. Then I made sure the item I ordered was the item I needed. I did.I have already reordered from a different vendor, and I hope they pay attention when pulling the item. The main reason I went back to check my order when I opened this is bc I have ordered the wrong piece before. I usually keep those, bc I am and always will be geeky enough to think *I might need/use that later*.If I had any use for this piece I would keep it. I have all sorts of adapters, cords, and cables laying around waiting for me to Frankenstein it into something I’m cobbling together. Absolutely nothing I am or might be working on fits this doohickey. So it's going back and instead of spending Sunday and Monday (Labor Day) tweaking my system, I will be rebuilding instead and hope I have the right pieces to finish it all in time for work on Tuesday.
