Stren Original Monofilament Fishing Line

I just started fishing again at age 62. Have not been fishing in 16 years. Had to replace my line to my (quality) fishing reels. Not my "first rodeo" when it comes to installing new line to a reel. I bought this line for the many years of quality Reputation! Prior to the 16 years from me fishing, this Brand was the (only) Brand I would buy. Why? For its Durability, Quality, Price, Etc, But this time, fast forward to now.......very DISAPPOINTED to say the least! Why? The line went on great as usual. I even kept the line taunt the whole time installing it as well as keeping it taunt after installing , until i went to use it for the first time.Complaint.....every time that i went fishing using this new line, it constantly wraps around the top eye of mr fishing rod. Soooooo frustrating. And the line likes to wrap itself around my reel! Again......so frustrating to say the least.Just very DISAPPOINTED with this ONCE Quality line. Now I have to REPLACE it with another Brand of line.Never will I buy this again! Sorry!

I am an avid fisherman. I purchased a new namebrand reel on amazon and I needed line for it. I bought this even though it’s cheap because I figured there was no way a name brand line maker could mess up a simple 6 pound mono, but boy was I wrong! It could have been the supplier (Amazon) instead of a manufacturing issue but I’m reviewing what I got. 1 star! It had TERRIBLE memory. Would cast out in loops. Birdsnest off of a spinning real. Floated in a spiral on top of the water. Tied knots pulled through easily. It would break with little stress applied to it. I’m thinking the line was old and had sat on the warehouse shelf a while. The line was also VERY visible. Surprise... if you can see it so can the fish. Never buying again!!!

I really love this line! The color is brilliant, and so it's easy to see, both in low light and direct sunlight! This is a huge benefit to me, since I'm generally working more than one line at a time (I've purchased extra licenses), and so I need to be able to see line movement easily and at Short distances. It's also great for bassin', because you can easily see the line jump out go slack when the fish takes the lure on the fall.My ONLY CAVEAT is this; it's not as supple as, say, Triline XL or the Spiderwire Ultimate Mono (let alone the various flouro or flouro-coated offerings out there), so memory is an issue on my Pflueger Presidents and Trions in the 20-25 sizes. It's not an issue on my reels larger than those.That said, it is so amazing line. Great abrasion resistance, knot strength, and of course, visibility. I just use a shock leader of 15' (along with a leader of smaller line), and I'm GTG. I've landed NUMEROUS 4-5lb bows and bass on this line, and I'm only using the 4lb line! I know that's light for bass, but I was targeting trout with spinners lol.But this line with confidence. It's great stuff!

Sorry fish folk, this review is based on Strens ability to make clouds float. Clear, thin and super strong. Two strands have held up a 4' cloud and gave it the illusion of being free of any support. The cloud has internal lighting and in total weighs about 5lbs. I also used the line to secure power cables to the back of the ladder. Both uses are invisible unless you are close and looking for it.

I used to by trilene line for many years. Recently I switched to stren. I ordered 3 reels of 10 pound stren a few days ago. This shipped quickly to me. I have respooled my line from last season just now and look forward to throwing a quality line again this season.

First its fishing line, It works like it should, I cast and retrieve without problems. No twist or coiling up. I like it better than that red cajun stuff I had. I must also say when you get older your eyes will like the hi vis. it really helps to see any bites at all.

I think this line is either well past it's expiration date or is counterfeit. I could litterally break it in my hands with no effort. I only did this because it would break any time I had a fish on. Do not buy!

I have used this line many times in the past years. It’s a great product. Money well spent.

I usually use 15 lb fluorocarbon with my pflueger president combo, but tried the 8lb hi-vis gold on a whim. Firstly, I love the way this line makes my reel look. it's great in low light conditions, and it makes my spinning combo POP. Secondly, I've caught so many fish with this line, that I feel it's a good luck charm. The colour doesn't scare away fish at all, and i've caught all sorts of fish including trout and salmon. The biggest fish I caught with this line was a 16lb pike, and this will definitely be my go-to line for future setups. Love it.
