Great customer service, table is meh...
The first table I received had many defects: the marble top had many little nicks and crevices that you could see and feel in the surface; the table base had large bubbling in the finish down one side that you could see from a distance. Not so much a defect, but the marble top was really unattractive: dark grey veining on a lighter gray background, but with these awful patches that looked like dirt smudges but were not. I called LexMod right away and they scheduled a 2nd delivery. The second table looked completely different, a granite-looking white/gray marble, but alas! It was apparently the wrong model as it would not fit on the proper base. Delivery #3, the table base has some minor bubbling and the marble top is still gray on gray, but with no dirt smudge-like stains and fewer pockmarks. At this point, it had been a month since I placed the order, so I accepted the table, but asked for and got a discount. Had I known that I was going to go through all this trouble (I've glossed over alot of the details) and that the table was going to be gray with not a speck of white in it (description says "white marble top!"), I probably would not have bought it. On the bright side, the 40" top does not flex on the base, it feels quite stable. The base's felt underside is really great, I can move the table around without scratching my wood floors. However, I'll probably be adding more cushioning to the base's bottom as my floor isn't completely level, but this is a problem with my floor, not the table! The customer service reps were very attentive, calling me back to give me updates, and the delivery guys were very courteous, cleaning up after installation and continuing to be friendly and nice even on the 3rd delivery attempt! FYI I got upgraded to white glove delivery due to shipping delay, I think with standard delivery, they will only deliver the box to you without opening it nor assembling the table. Overall, I have to give this 3 stars, because the quality of the first table was so poor and the table I ended up keeping, while better, is still not great, and there was so much hassle in between. I think with these designer knock-off tables, the quality can really vary so someone else who orders could get a gorgeous and perfect table on the first try, it really is luck of the draw.

Great table for a small family or close friends.
Here's what it is: a cozy and stylish dining table for 2 or 3 people, 4 if family or close friends. It is in no way formal. The 36" table is a bit low but so are the matching tulip chairs. The table is very sturdy and well-made. The white lacquer finish is good. Assembly is very simple with 4 included screws and hex wrench. As others have noted, the packaging requires a prybar or hammer to remove and will fill up a large trashcan. Once removed from the crating it is not as heavy as some claim. IF you do it smart it can be left on some of the cardboard packaging and slid into location. If you can get it out of the crating you can probably move it just fine. +1 because the tabletop and the base each came with a polyester bag for protection so they can be slid on the floor without damage. The walnut tabletop is pretty dark for a walnut stain, less MCM than riflestock IMO, but the quality of the tabletop is very good. I can't even tell it's laminated mdf- without very close inspection it looks like solid wood. The base does have foam applied around the circumference to protect the floor and the finish. Here's a pro tip if you do not like the finish- the big box home improvement stores sell furniture grade plywood in 4'x8' sheets. Cut a 36" round, sand, install M5 inserts, and stain whatever color you like.

OMG Love This Table!
I had originally planned on ordering the laminate top version of this table, thinking my husband would never let me spring for the marble top. Turns out he wanted the marble top too so that's what we got. I had read reviews online of a similar table from another manufacturer and the reviews complained about misaligned holes and paint jobs that bubble, so I was pretty worried ordering a table this large and this expensive online without being able to see it first. I was pleasantly surprised, no misaligned holes and the table is beautiful. Ours did have a two small hairline cracks in the paint on the base, I took photos, emailed them to customer service, and was immediately offered a very generous resolution without having to ship the table back. Do be aware, we ordered this table with 4 of the tulip style chairs, the package weighed 200lbs and I had to arrange a day and time for the freight company to deliver. We were worried about getting it upstairs but turns out my husband was able to get it all up on his own. The 36-inch was the biggest we could comfortably fit in our kitchen space and it does feel a teeny bit small for four people, but we comfortably fit 4 chairs around it. Plenty of room for 4 to eat off of it but you wouldn't be able to serve your meals from it at the same time. Love this table, would totally buy it again.

Not as advertised - you be the judge
False advertising.....The top is NOT real walnut (as was specifically told to me in an e-mail from 'Jason' of Lexington Modern), rather a man-made finish and texture over an unknown wood-like material. It is easy to see by looking for the end grain around the edge, of which there are no end grains. So, I must ask, will a glass with a wet bottom set on the table top and not leave a ring? Dunno....not going to push it.Further the advertisement said the following "This Eero Saarinen Dining table has a lacquered cast aluminum base...". It is made of fiberglass or it is a fiberglass reinforced plastic of some kind. The flexing of the non-aluminum neck can be readily seen at the table top.Base to table screws were wrong diameter and I had to go to Lowe's to get correct screws. The correct lengths were not available so I bought longer and cut them back. If you have to do this, make sure the screws are short enough so that they will not screw up through the top of the table. Did I paint a picture here? Fortunately, my wife and I were watching and we had to shorten the screws again. It is what it is...a replica "styled" after the Knoll Saarinen tulip tables. Save your money....buy the real thing.
