Mustek 98-SCN-MT002 Scan Express A3 USB 2400 Pro Flatbed Scanner 2400 x 2400 dpi

I purchased this from Conrad (via Amazon), I believe they are based in Germany. Delivery was fast and the very large package arrived in excellent condition. TINY BUT ... it comes with a continental power supply ... an easy thing to fix but a you need a plug adaptor. The transformer and the plug are one unit, so that "spare continental cable" fix won't do the job. Once it was up and running it is a large black functional slab that seems to work well. I am using VueScan software, not the stuff it is bundled with the scanner. You will need to install the drivers from the disc provided, which was simple. You have almost no real choice at this end of the market. I do not regret the decision to buy ... it is huge and dull, though! :-)

If you have a MAC computer, then this scanner isn't for you. It's not compatible. IF however you use a windows computer, then all is plain sailing and so long as you use VUESCAN as a method of controlling this scanner, there is plenty of scope to scan anything you want, in any detail you want.All of the bad reviews for this machine seem to be from MAC users however, even though it does say that it isn't compatible with such a system. It isn't the fastest of scanners (depending on how high you set the resolution) but it does do a good job of it, like any scanner does really. There is no on/off switch fitted, just switch it on/off at the wall socket.This is an A3 size scanner of course, so it will take up a bit more room than you might imagine. But presumably anyone buying this machine has already thought of this. Not being very heavy, it can feel a bit cheap and flimsy, but treat it like any other type of expensive piece of kit (like a computer etc.) and it will last a long time. This is a no frills machine overall, and I have found it to be reliable and easy to set up and use, so long as I use VUESCAN to set the different parameters I want.You can use the operating system this machine comes with by default, but it is a little more awkward to do so and isn't as versatile I find.I highly recommend this scanner if A3 size is what you need, just make sure you have enough room for it if this is going to be your only scanner for daily use. It's that big overall.

Ideal for scanning larger images but the sizes are not accurate. If you scan at 300dpi it converts to 72dpi and makes the dimensions larger. Then, if you convert back to 300dpi to get the right dimensions, they are slightly wrong. Seems completely pointless and very irritating. Quite light and cheaply made, but otherwise works OK.

Total and absolute rubbish, I have regularly been buying electronic equipment for my business since 1986 and I don't think I have ever bought such a poor piece of equipment. I in fact purchased two of these scanners, one from Amazon and then one from another dealer and both scanners simply did not work with any Apple Mac computer we have in the office. The Mustek support is simply non existent and even after several calls to the main office in the USA and emails to their support line I did not get any response. Yes the scanner is inexpensive but if it does not work with Mac then it should not make this claim and stop wasting buyers time and money. Cheap build and non existent support make this scanner a total waste of time at any price, avoid at all costs. I only bought this scanner as I read a rave review on A3 scanners (a US website) but maybe they know something I don't, however only after I purchased this scanner and had problems did I read other websites slating this product.

I got this mainly for scanning artwork and returned it the same day. The colour calibration is very poor and it picks up reflections from the artwork. For example, in a pencil drawing the darkest lines of graphite can look shiny when viewed from certain angles; the scanner picked up these reflections so the darkest lines looked much lighter than they should. And scanning an oil painting properly was impossible because the scanner picked up reflections from the surface and medium. Most scanners give satisfactory results in these cases. I'd recommend this only for scanning text and completely flat images where colour accuracy is not needed.

Just want to confirm, help clarify, add to previous comments on this product.I'm a Mac user. Yes, the company and its documentation for this product are a bit useless but installation is very easy once someone tells you what to do and the product seems to work OK for an average user like me.Don't bother with any software shipped with the product. Go to the companies website ([...]), choose the A3 2400 product from the "Office Usage" list and download 2 things:1. Download the driver (look for the MAC driver, then select the TWAIN driver). Install the driver.2. Then download the ImageAcquire application and Install it.I can only get the product to work with the ImageAcquire software - don't know if it is supposed to work with anything else. But ImageAcquire is easy to use and does what I want it to do - scan in an A3 document. I would describe the quality as acceptable (for me) but not great.I share everyones general frustration with having to do our own tech support for each other on so many office products. (This was so easy - why couldn't they tell us?)As far as A3 scanners go I haven't seen a good review of any product yet (including multi function) so this one, at this price, suits me for now.

marca ormai in disuso...però c'è chi ancora la chiede. Mi ricordo i primi Mustek della bear...li regalava come premi la Tiscali per le promotion sugli abbonamenti delle vecchissime linee 56k....oddio...non proprio vecchie dato che l'Italia non è proprio (siamo fine 2017) come la mostrano orgogliosi nei loro spot le vari compagnie di telecomunicazioni...ma questa è un'altra storia.

Aunque el programa es en efecto algo limitado, la calidad del escaneado es bastante buena. Ahora sólo falta que dure unos cuantos años y no se rompa a los cinco segundos de que venza la garantía, ¿no?

Ich betreibe den Scanner unter Mac OSX10.7.5 und habe bisher keine Schwierigkeiten festgestellt. Wie in einigen anderen Produktbewertungen zu lesen ist, wird das gescannte (Vorschau)Bild tatsächlich nur sehr klein angezeigt; man hat aber die Möglichkeit diese Ansicht einmalig zu vergrößern, um seine Auswahl des zu scannenden Bereiches nachzujustieren. Daran habe ich mich schnell gewöhnt und empfinde es nicht als Mängel - sicherlich hängt das aber stark davon ab, mit was für einem Programm man zuvor gearbeitet hat. Ich empfinde es als leichten Nachteil, dass das mitgelieferte Programm die Bilder nur in drei Formaten speichern kann (jpg, tiff und pdf) - aber das ist kein wesentlicher Kritikpunkt. Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden und kann den Scanner weiterempfehlen.

Bon produit, ne fait de bruit que pendant le fonctionnement, relativement rapide.Les logiciels livrés avec le scanner sont très insuffisants, il faut s'en procurer d'autres pour vraiment l'utiliser.A3 est très pratique pour les grands formatsun peu plus tard: le scanner fonctionne mal, j'essaie de le faire réparer, mais l'affaire traîne sans que j'arrive àun résultat. Le vendeur ne fait pas son travail.

El escáner que me llegó no era el modelo pro sino el s, pero hablando con el vendedor me ha reembolsado la diferencia y la verdad es que funciona muy bien. Muy contento con el trato y el producto. Se debería actualizar la información y foto del producto para no caer en el error de nuevo.
