Hirodaisuke Hagiwara is a Japanese author who has been writing since the 1980s. His published works include over 30 books. They have been translated into English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, and other languages. Hagiwara's books are known for their unique style and graphic violence. Hirodaisuke Hagiwara was born in Hiroshima in 1957. He studied at the Faculty of Literature at University of Hiroshima and then at the Faculty of Letters of Waseda University in Tokyo. In 1984, Hagiwara published his first novel "The Body" which was about a man who killed another man during a robbery. In 1985 he published "The Cube" which was about a future society where people live in cube-shaped rooms. The book ended with the protagonist committing suicide because he could not find a job. The same year Hagiwara wrote "Pirate Girl," about an 11-year-old girl who appears to be abandoned by her parents and tries to survive on her own on a boat that is sailing around the world. In 1986, Hagiwara published "Space Squeeze," which was about a woman who is trapped in an elevator with three men. In 1989, Hagiwara published "The Electric Eye," which was about a man who tries to kill his pregnant wife with an electric saw but can't bring himself to do it because he loves her too much. In 1998, Hagiwara published "Taken by the Sea." This book is about a girl who is taken by the sea during a storm, but she manages to return to shore alive by using her imagination as well as acting on instinct.
