I recently purchased this hydration bladder for a camping and hiking trip to Big Bend. I washed and tested it out before the trip and was pretty impressed with the quality of the materials and parts. It also comes with a spare O-ring for the tube connection which is nice. There was no pervasive smell or anything other than the usual new "plastic" smell that was gone after washing. And importantly, no plastic or chemical taste at all - just pure H2O. It fit and worked great in my REI daypack, carries a good amount of water, was easy to fill on-the-go with the big fill hole, had no leaking at all over several days of camping/hiking, and the bite-valve worked perfectly. Stupidly, I didn't realize it had an On/Off valve and couldn't figure out why the water stopped flowing halfway through my first hike. Turns out I had accidentally pushed the valve in and shut off the flow. So I can attest that this feature works :)So yeah, 2 notes I would share:1) the bite-valve pushes in/out to shut the flow off/on;2) to empty the tube of water after washing or using, disconnect the tube, hold it upside down with the bite-valve at the bottom, and just squeezed the bite valve to release all the water.Overall, the quality and functionality of this hydration bladder is excellent and feels premium. Worked flawlessly (other than my own human error) on multiple hikes in hot and rugged conditions. I purchased this hydration bag for my running vest. I was able to fill it more than half way for my 10 k race and needed a full bag for my half marathon races or training. I like this design of a large cap twisting on and off because i am able to clean the inside of the bag very well with a soft sponge.I like the design of the top of the bag because i can use my vest velcro to string through the 2 flat holes on the top of the pouch to keep it upright. The bag never slid down or fell but I like the confidence that the bag remains more balanced and upright.I think the only complaint I have was I can't figure iut a way to remove the tube completely to clean and because of that I only use water but would have liked to hold liquid iv or some powder hydration packet with my water but then if I can't remove the drinking straw tube I was not confortable with how I could clean it.

At first I thought the larger size would be a problem with carrying in a backpack during the school day but it's surprisingly light. Now I can discreetly drink my cran and titos while dealing with the 3rd graders in history!

I haven’t used it yet but it seems solid . It’s an emergency item . I just hope it works if I ever need it

Works as advertised! I followed the instructions, adding vinegar to the bladder and allowing it to soak for 30 minutes before use. Once I rinsed out, the water didn’t have that rubbery aftertaste. Endured a 3-day backpacking trip and 2 kids with zero issues! Not bad for the price!After cleaning, I used paper towel to absorb any remaining water inside. I put several bladders in a large ziplock bag, and placed in the freezer to prevent bacteria growth.
