Product was shipped via post office, which apparently lost or destroyed the book, as it was soon untraceable. A day later it was all of a sudden UPS, fulfillment for the book (if I had to guess, a completely new book shipped again). Book arrived in five days, vs the "one day delivery"....box was almost form fitted (which is very good for a book this size), however the corners were not protected and thus the bottom two corners were smashed in😔😡. Book binding seems very well done though and the covers, back and front seem protected by the air bags placed on top of the omnibus.... So ultimately I am not happy as a collector. It is difficult to ship such a huge book. But I feel much more care could be taken. Kind of par for the course for desertcart. All that said, I have read the Snyder run on Batman a few times, and just for the court of owls and death of the family storylines, I'd have to say it's a no brainer to get this book. It is quality, at least mine was good binding etc. The stories are some of the best Batman out there and the art is excellent. It's a gamble if the book will arrive intact, but a pretty sure bet it'll at least be damaged at least a little. But still worth the chance for such a monumental body of work. I've been an avid Batman fan for many many many years. So trust me, the stories and art are killer and worth it if you can get a book in good shape🤔. Happy gambling y'all. And good luck. Review: The Modern Batman omni - *No Spoilers* One of the best Batman omnibus out there and I'll recommend this book to anyone who's trying or already into Batman. The art is great but the story written by Scott Snyder is fantastic he understands the character of Batman.

Big Book, Better Story: The Batman We Deserve AND The One We Need
This is a review of the Scott Snyder/Greg Capullo Batman Omnibus, which includes Batman #0-33, #23.2, and Batman Annual #1-2. Amazon has grouped together the individual issue’s Kindle reviews and the reviews for this book, so watch out for that! First things first: this is a MASSIVE book. As you can see, it’s approximately the size of a small cat, and is printed on high-quality, glossy paper. The interior artwork looks GREAT. I’ve read some concerns about the book being unable to lay flat or having excessive amounts of artwork lost in the “gutter,” (the space where the pages meet in the middle) but I haven’t had as much of a problem with that. It can be annoying, but nothing crucial is lost, and doesn’t affect the entire reading experience: mostly just “splash” pages, ones with one large image instead of panels. As long as you’re reading with at least one hand, you should be fine! Not a dealbreaker for the rest of what you’re getting. This is one of the greatest Batman runs ever written. It’s absolutely got the bang for your buck; there’s a reason The Court of Owls (the first story in this collection) appears on a lot of “Best of” lists. It’s the story that got me into reading comics in the first place. “Death of the Family,” the third story in this omnibus, is one of the greatest (and scariest!) Joker stories ever written, and Capullo captures his image in an iconic and palpable way. And speaking of the artwork: the colors are WONDERFUL, the inking’s great, and Capullo’s amazing artwork doesn't stop at his Joker design: every character feels unique and expressive. Seriously, linework better than his is hard to find. Overall, it’s well worth your money, particularly at Amazon’s price! They packaged this extremely well, with airbags in a large box, so it arrived totally unharmed. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Well worth the money!
I am already halfway through this omnibus and I just received it! The story is very entertaining and well written, and the art is beautiful. I’m a huge Batman fan and this book is everything people claim it to be and more! I’ve already ordered Scott Snyder’s 2nd omnibus as I doubt it’ll take me much longer to finish this one. Definitely a must-have for any collector who loves Batman! Just a heads up for anyone who has never read The Court of Owls before. There are a few pages in this omnibus where the page orientation shifts. When you get to these pages, you might panic like me and think that it’s a misprint, but it’s not. It was a very unique idea that I’ve never encountered anywhere else before. It really added to the atmosphere of the story.

NOTHING BUT GREAT THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THIS BOOK...
I'll begin by saying this: if you're on the fence about purchasing this omnibus, DON'T BE! I began reading this with no idea what to expect. I've become wary of overhyped books and story arcs, so I tempered my expectations. Yet, as soon as I began reading, I knew I would fall in love with the world that Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo were building. Snyder has crafted a story that brings Batman back to his roots. This isn't the overpowered, unbeatable vigilante that many writers have made him into. In this book, Batman is a true underdog who is consistently beaten both physically and mentally during the early years of his crime fighting career. Despite the gloominess and darkness that saturate each page, this is ultimately a story of perseverance and hope in the face of adversity. As a result, Snyder manages to write a truly sympathetic and human Bruce Wayne/Batman. Additionally, Greg Capullo's artwork is absolutely stunning. The attention to detail (such as stitches that slowly heal over the course of an issue) is unmatched. He manages to make the world feel very genuine and lived-in, and I found myself mesmerized by several panels. Without giving any spoilers away, there is a gorgeous homage to Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" during the "Zero Year" story arc that has become my new favorite single panel of all time. As far as reading order goes, I would highly recommend reading the entire Zero Year arc (Issues #21-27, 29-33) first. This takes place six years prior to the mainstream New 52 continuity and serves as a new origin story for Batman. After that, you can read the book front to back without interruption. Additionally, as far as reading orders go, I would recommend reading Grant Morrison's Batman Vol. 3 and Peter J. Tomasi's Batman and Robin run. There is a pretty comprehensive reading order on comicbookherald.com if you wish to read the tie-in storylines, as they do impact Snyder's run. Overall, I can't recommend this book enough. It is a classic in my mind, and I will certainly be returning to it in the near future.

Maaaaattttteeee!!!!!
First, I wish all comic books, trade paperbacks, omnibus, deluxe, whatever! Came matte like this. Not only does it feel good on the touch. Its pleasing to look at. No glare. Chefs kiss. As for the content. Its awesome. I enjoyed all three major stories. Although, the cliff hanger at the end made no sense, since vol. 2 doesn't pick up right after. I'm only halfway though vol. 2, so maybe it ties in???

Wow!
What an ambitious beginning to an epic run on Batman. The stories and art are magnificent. The book was coolly designed and beautifully wrapped. This looks to be both a brave and bold direction.
