The Sylvers Remastered incl. 4 Bonus Tracks

Most music listeners under the age of thirty probably only know about their Top 40's Hit Singles periodin their career travels. But this was their first commercial album release on the MGM - distributed PRIDElabel in 1972 when they were all newcomers to the record industry. I purchased this LP album as soon asit was released but lost that original copy in an apartment burglary. Almost 30 years later I finally foundanother copy of it but paid a price that today would seem ridiculous for a vinyl record album. But as avinyl collector who started back in the 1960's, I always looked for 1st Album releases because they oftenbecame collector's items after the artist's career really got rolling. As other reviewers have stated, this isnot at all like their "Disco days" releases that got their name pushed up there in the spotlight - and madea lot of money - mostly for people 'behind the scenes' when they became a hot commodity. But if youwant to hear the full range of their talents, this is the place to start! Produced by the great classic R&Bsinger Jerry Butler, with some stalwart studio musicians of that time, this is nothing but good singingand good playing! This Import CD also contains the four additional tracks originally recorded when theproject was being worked on that would not fit onto the album due to time limitations, and because theones that made it were probably viewed as the strongest cuts out of all of them.......Amazing stuff!!!If you can, check out the story of their career on the Video Series "UNSUNG".......It is a true testamentnot only to their talents but also to their resilience to life's ups and downs and their ability to survivein a field literally 'loaded' with 'land mines!!'

They FINALLY put the first three albums of this very underrated group on CD and after waiting for decades I couldn't even believe my eyes when I first saw them. Am so happy/grateful that my collection of the Sylvers music is FINALLY complete. For those of you who only know about Boogie Fever and Hot Line, please: check out the first three albums. They showcase the true talent, writing, creativity, harmony and depth of this group. Not taking anything away from Boogie Fever or Hot Line, but neither one of those songs ever represented the Sylvers or what this group was truly about. Not hardly.
