Garmin 61LMT-S charger
I used to use my Samsung ac adapter to charge my garmin GPS, it worked for awhile. Than my GPS wasn't charging, had to charge via my computer usb port. Yes you can charge your GPS via a usb port on your computer, even if you get a pop up" window on your gps saying "this cable won't charge your gps" it does charge very slowly.Getting back to this Garmin charger which I bought, As soon as I got it I tried charging my gps. Low and behold!! my gps is now fully charged after only 3-4 hours on this ac garmin charger. I looked closely to see what's the difference between the cell phone ac adapter and this garmin ac adapter.1) cell phone ac adapter charges at 1.34 ah, This ac garmin ac charger, charges at 2.0 ah. I don't know if .76 ah more supposed to make a difference but it does. I'm totally 100% satisfied with this purchase!!Sincerely, Mike.

A charge when you need it
In this time of almost never using your car, the GPS in my sisters car (and mine) was never getting a charge. She thought her GPS had headed to the great beyond, but all it really needs is to be charged up again and this little dude is just the product to do it. I had bought one to do the same for my GPS so knew it would work for her. The time it takes to get a full charge is long, but it works and that is what matters. A critical piece of GPS equipment that may not be needed often, but when that time comes, you will be very glad that you bought this unit. We both were!

Good way to do the initial map updates on the Garmin GPS.
When the Garmin Drivesmart 51 is new, there is a ton of map updates. Not knowing any better, I plugged it in the car. Well, these updates take hours when the unit is new. After it got hung up a couple of times, I decided to get a wall charger. What a difference. Just plug the Garmin in the wall in the same room as the wifi, and let it go. It's sure handy to get power to the gps unit besides plugging into the car. well worth it.

Does the job
Was hesitant to buy an aftermarket charger for my Garmin DriveSmart 50 GPS. Rely heavily on it to get me around Europe in rental cars. Left the original one that came with it in the Hotel. This unit fits it and works perfectly so far! Reasonably priced too.

Works to accept traffic info also!
On my Garmin 650, plugging this in at home works to accept and display traffic info also, just like the normal connection in the car. I was pleasantly surprised by this. A blue light on top lights up on the converter to show that it has this feature, again just like the car unit.

Very Handy
It gives me a chance to put in addresses with enough power to finish the task in my recliner! Had to go to the truck and fire the GPS up and put the addresses in before I purchased this power cord. Excellent quality and very handy!
