Real Analysis: A First Course, 2nd Edition

Still a perfect reference for intro analysis
This book is a great length, has a nice range of problems, and has remarkably few typos or errors (which is important for any introductory rigorous math book). I used this several years ago when learning analysis, and, although I've moved past the content, this text remains one of the most self-contained and reliable summaries of basic analysis I have seen. I am teaching intro analysis next term, and will definitely use this book as either a primary or secondary text.

I Wanted the Second Edition
Nothing wrong with the book; it's just not the one I ordered. I clicked on the link for the Second Edition, went to "New and Used," and then found a seller. Since I was still on the link for the second edition, I thought that's what I would be receiving. Instead, I received the first edition, and I've had to make adjustments throughout my current course.

Undergraduate Real Analysis
This book is great text for undergraduate real analysis. It may not be as rigorous as Rudin's but I would recommend it more because being more rigorous doesn't necessarily mean that students will learn more. The book contains both simple and challenging exercises. It is book that can be used as a first course in real analysis. It is both designed mainly for real-line analysis and not multivariate analysis. So, those wanting to see multivariate analysis need to buy another book. One book can't satisfy everyone and that's why there are other books out so that people can choose their flavour. This book is great in my eyes.

Great Book
Good introductory real analysis class. I like the way the author builds the concepts in the exercises. For instance, you may prove several facts about rational numbers and then on a later number those facts can be used as lemmas to support your proof.

Dont order school books from these guys
Ordered the book 10 days before classes started, and still didn't have the book three weeks after classes started.I ended up paying for a class I had to drop and a book I now cant use.Other than that, the book was alright. The examples are not clear and should only be used with a lot of guidance. Not a great book for self learning.

Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest
This book is a horriffic attempt to teach Analysis to average American Students .It fails horribly in this , as well as in style and exposition. The usual theorem's are presented with proofs and of course most of these can be found in just about any other text. The Whole book is written in a newspaper style format with little motivation for concepts and very few worked out examples. How anybody can learn Undergraduate Analysis from this text is really beyond me. Another big joke is the preface of this book :Gordon writes on page 3 of the preface "When I teach this class, I do very little lecturing. For each class period, the students are expected to read several pages of the book and to work on some of the problems at the end of the section .My goal is that the students understand every sentence of the text." I believe this is proof that the book cannot really be used , however this is what Gordon really means :(he could have might as well said) "I do not want to teach this class and I am going to let the kids run my classroom.I am going to assign the easiset problems and hope everyone survives and hope that the Dean does not get too mad at the grade distribution."This kind of teaching method obviously produces students with very low problem solving skills and almost no understanding of the subject.Of course if Gordon had written a readable text , he would not have to resort to these kind of teaching methods. The Supplementary Exercises section of the text is basically a collection of hard problems. But Wait....... he never himself assigns homework or exam problems similar to these which begs the question "Why does he even have such material throughout the text??"All in all a huge waste of time and human effort .Gordon would have spent his time much more wisely by concentrating on his research rather than writing this book.
