CISM Certified Information Security Manager Practice Exams 1st Edition

As a security practitioner, I can say that Peter's books are well written, highly educational, and definitely top notch! I will be studying for my CISM exam this summer and expect this book to provide immense value.

It works! Layout better than ISACA's!

Solid study material.

This book accomplished its intent. As with most IT/IS study or reference material it is not a very engaging read read. As stated it does help in getting one to learning and understanding the intent of questions or scenarios that one may face when sitting for the CISM exam. The questions are very good at explaining which answer is correct and why it is correct as well as why the other available answers are not the best choice. Good prep source.

I am hesitant on whether or not to recommend this book. There are a few questions that directly contradicted other material I was using which made me question this content.

These practice exams compliment the "All-in-one" study guide, also by Peter H. Gregory. Overall, the "All-in-one" guide was fairly decent and definitely better than the official ISACA material, but the questions in these practice exams are terribly written.It's a very strange and ironic that so many questions are poorly worded. One of the fundamental concepts repeated in CISM is the importance of communicating effectively to other lines of business in plain language. Questions being tricky and challenging is one thing, but unnecessarily wordy and confusing is another. It's not like you can ask for clarification and when context matters so much in conceptual answers, it's important to be clear.One thing you should also know before purchasing is that only 150 of the questions are available in the online test bank. The other 300 are in the book only. I really don't understand why the online test bank doesn't include all 450 questions. Perhaps cost? Having all the questions available in the online test tool allows for a deeper pool to create different practice tests. It's also easier to re-test yourself as opposed to doing it manually with pen and paper via the book.I've done other certifications and purchased other books from McGraw Hill and all questions were available online. So why not 1 star? There is still value to having extra practice questions and in the end should still help in your exam preparation.
