Q: Can this do a juice grove on cutting boards?

Sure. You need the right bit. It will probably work best to clamp wood of the same thickness in a boarder around the cutting board to allow the groove to be near the boarder. I prefer to have the router completely inside the jig so you need some extra room to get the groove near the edge. A bearing could work but not as well. Clamping the jig to the wood on the boarder and securing the cutting board somehow will help as well. Another method would be to cut the groove before cutting the wood to size. This would make the extra wood unnecessary and make clamping the cutting board and the jig to your work bench easier but might lead to more waste.

Q: Can the jig be used for making various size dado cuts?

Happy to answer your question. I’m new to woodworking and not sure of what “Dado Cuts” are. Most of my routing are Square or Rectangular cuts and this Variable Template is EXCELLENT, though expensive. I purchased a cheaper one (around $100), returned it then purchased the Woodpeckers Variable Jig. This is worth every dollar spent. Hope I answered your question. Good Luck

No it doesn’t but i found the rails are wide enough that I didn’t need to use a base on the router for large openings.
