I've read other reviews about it not laying flat. If you need to install this right out of the box then you may have those issues to deal with. I had the time to lay it flat out on a table and stack reams of paper on it for a few days before installing it. Give it a couple days under compression, apply the double sided tape to the table and then quickly install it. This worked great for me, but it would have been easier with two people positioning it on the table.The material is high quality, self healing and easy to clean.

This is the third VYCO Board Cover, for three different drawing tables, in more than 20 years. In years past I have attached it to melamine top tables using the same technique I used for my current glass top table. I really like this cover, It is easy to clean, just enough softness under the pressure of a pencil and the cream colored side does not interfere with color decisions. I always buy one that is slightly oversize so that I may trim it to ensure the T-Square has a flush contact with the edge of the table.Here is how I attach it to the table top:1. Take most of the curl out by making sure it is room temperature and reverse curling it enough times and for sufficient time. It took less than 30 minutes.2. Clean your table top and ensure it is dry.3. Place it upside down on the table and using 3M Repositionable 75 Adhesive Spray spray it according to the directions on the spray can.4. Let the adhesive dry for 15 or so seconds.5.Flip it over (a second person to help is welcome) and position it so that there is overhang to be trimmed.6. Take a hair dryer and heat the board cover.7. Take a brayer or solid rolling pin and starting at the center apply the hair dryer in front of the brayer and roll out on the diagonals to the corners and then alternating directions , center out, through the rest of the top.8. Do this at least X2.9. Remove hair dryer and continue rolling pattern for a few more passes.10. Take a sharp craft knife and placing your palm on the top to keep it from moving trim the excess from the top.

This is just a really nice way to have a work surface that you can both draw and cut on. I've used art cutting mats in the past, but find them to be too awkward and they often end up with a rough surface. VYCO is thin, you keep it on you work surface, and it's self healing.I do a lot of cutting with an exacto knife, and it will break down (eventually). By the time my last piece wore out, I was completely satisfied it had been worth every penny.

I am happy with the texture and color. I like having the smoother cream colored side for artistic drawing where I need my hand to slide smoothly over the surface. The somewhat softer and more grippe green side is great for drafting where I want to use instruments with points that need to have ease of insertion and a good healing surface. My only complaint is that the cover was shipped in a roll that had flattened in the box and after over a month of being stretched on the board it still has waves in it where it will not lie flat. It needs improved shipping packaging. Perhaps by rolling it around a core that will keep it round and not allow it to flatten out.

I purchased the Stain Resistant and Self Sealing, Green/Cream Sheet - 31 x 42 Inches to cover my drafting board. It arrived on time and in perfect condition. As recommended, I have left the cover loose and laying flat for nearly a week to be sure the curl is out. I have not yet installed it, but I don't anticipate it being any trouble since is came with instructions. I have been happy with similar product in the past and expect the same with this.

Not cheap. But then again, it's not cheap. Installed exactly as i had hoped. The quality is the same as the last piece I acquired almost 40 years ago. Quite happy.

...I laid it out for a couple days, flipped it and laid it out again, used a hair dryer to apply some gentle heat, stacked books across the top, etc, etc, and it is just now relaxed enough to mount.Well, sort of. It still had lumps from the product being rolled. So I put a table out in the yard and laid it out in the sun...which worked great until the wind picked it up and put permanent creases in a couple places. Oy! Such a trial.

Great product, just like we used to use 30 years ago when I got my drafting degree. CAD had not been developed, so these mats were a necessity when drawing with mechanical pencils. Super!

Purchased for surface on my drafting tableJust the right thickness and surface type.

I worked at a fancy drafting table decades ago. I never forgot how nice a surface it was to draw on. I bought this to cover my new Husky work bench so I can protect the surface from Xacto knife nicks and other abuses. It was a little pricey but I only needed to buy it once.
