The Best Act Prep Book Ever!
I am completly happy with the results that i recieved on my ACT and I owe it to this book among other things. I took the ACT twice before purchasing this book to aid me in studying. the first time, my composite score was 25 (English-25, Math-26, Reading-25, Science-25, Writing-8). In my opinion, I think that I did fairly well, but I knew I was able to do better. I initially planned to only take it twice and I wanted to buy this book for that occasion, but time flew by and before I knew it I was taking the test again. The second time I got a composite of 26 (English-28, Math-24, Reading-26, Science-24, Writing-9). As you can see, I did better in English, Reading, and Writing, but I went down in Math and Science. I bought Barron's ACT 36 about two weeks before the next exam I signed up for and began studying about a week before the exam. Afterwards I recieved a new composite of 30!!! (English-33, Math-32, Reading-28, Science-27, Writing-8). I was so surprised that I literally jumped up and down screaming at the top of my lungs (and I'm a guy by the way). Not only that I was very surprised that I got my best scores in all subjects (except for writing b/c I didn't really study for that one). I only was aiming for a 28 and I am very pleased with the results. In addition, I reccomend that if you are very serious about getting a great score on the ACT, you study for more than a week unlike me, take it at LEAST three (3) times, and change the location that you take it on the third time. (Idk if this works, but I think it did for me.) Also I reccomend that you use other books to help you study. Again I highly reccomend that you buy this book!!!!

Essential for Improving Your Score
While it may initially sound pretentious, if not cocky, to invest in a booklet that is titled "ACT 36," it truly hones in on the skills you will need for the test. It covers all subjects with all you could need to know, without sounding overly pedantic. Even if the Perfect Score isn't in your horizon, this workbook will help you get one step closer. You don't need to aspire to acquire a 36, you just need to approach it with the attitude that you can improve your score, and this book will undoubtedly help you with that.A quick admonition. The book won't help you if you don't pick it up. It is self-study based, and it is assumable that you are at the very least somewhat up for the task, for you put in the effort to look for this book. The book does not include full length tests, so it is strongly recommended that you buy it in conjunction with another book filled with multiple full length tests.

Everything's good except the science section
So this is my mom's account but I'm actually writing the review.I bought this book because i have never taken the ACT's and it seemed like a decent preparatory book.I am 17 years old, and I'm going to be a senior this fall. I took the test on June and I got my results yesterday.Honestly, this book was so helpful in the english section. I think that was its strong suit. You have to make sure that you take in every little information on the english section, because almost everything that's stated in here shows up on the actual test. Don't skim. There might be information that seems like it's common sense, go over it anywhere. The reading section was awesome too. I went over each section and made sure I knew why I got the answers wrong. The math section was not as strong as the english or reading. It was a lot easier than what I faced on the actual test. I'm pretty sure I guessed on at least 5 questions because I had never seen such a question. The science section was SO much easier on the barrons book than the ACT test. I was getting every question right on the prep book, but my scores told me otherwise. I think it's more attributed to the lack of time I had.You have to know that this book is great for technique and introduction. But for actual test like stimulation, this book is not for you.I used this book and the ACT Red book (for that stimulated test exercise) and I got a 31 composite score.English: 33Math: 33Reading: 35Science: 24.Science brought me down so so much. I just need to sharpen up my science, and I think my score will be in a good place.I hope this was helpful, good luck with your test!!!! :)

The best ACT book for me
This book helped me immensely. I used three different ACT books and took a class but self-studying with this book was by far the most helpful. I mostly studied it for English, Science and Writing and found it very informative. It tells you a lot of tips and tricks, almost ways to "cheat" the test.Another thing I liked about this book as opposed to other books, is that it is really good if you are striving for a high score. It really goes in-depth in each of the subjects and tells you what you need to know to get a 36.On my first ACT, before I used this book, I got a 28. After using this book (and others, but mostly this one) I got a 33. I have recommended this one to all of my friends who are still taking the ACT and I would recommend it to anyone who is striving for a 27-36 on their test.

Good for studying for ACT
I purchased this for my daughter before she took her ACT. She focused on Science and Math because she got a 99% on her PSAE in reading and a 94% on her English. Her Science was 57% and Math was 75%. Her overall composite score was 89% in the nation with a scale composite score of 27. But after studying using this book her Science went up to 84% and Math was 79% on the actual ACT. This was significant, especially in Science. The only thing is that I told her not to worry about studying for the Reading or English and her reading went down to 96%, but her English went up to 96% which gave her an overall score of 91% in the nation and a composite score of 28. So, we are pleased with this book. She will take it a second time and this time I told her to study EVERYTHING.
