Our Own Candle CompanyHot Chocolate Scented Mason Jar Candle, 100 Hour Burn Time,13 Ounces

I've been burning about one of these Our Own Candle Company mason jar candles per week for the last few months and haven't gotten any scent more than once (I think). That's not a statement on the candles themselves, just that I like variety and I've tried a variety of these scents. Following is a review about the candles in general and a note about this scent in particular.Pros: The handle makes it easy to move still-burning candles without handling the hot jar. They burn cleanly, leaving little wax at the bottom of the jar, and they're such nice jars I've just cleaned them out and am using them as drinking glasses! The sheer variety of scents is amazing and some of them are really rockstars when it comes to scenting the whole house, especially the fall scents (Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Spice), Nice Melons, and anything heavily vanilla scented (so anything with Vanilla or '& Cream' in the name).Barely even cons: The wick tends to pull up lots of wax, leaving these big black bulbs at the end. If you leave them alone they'll make the candle flame bigger, which burns the candle faster. But if you make sure to trim the wick, you won't have that problem (Note: I received an unexpected pair of wick scissors when I ordered the Sassy Pack, which was a pleasant and useful surprise!). Once you get about halfway through the candle, the flame will start leaving soot in the top half of the candle. I personally don't care about that, but I can see how someone who was more concerned about the aesthetics might find that bothersome.Con: The potency and accuracy of the scent is pretty hit or miss. I'd say I've gotten about 50/50 on candles that fill the house with scent (see those listed in pros) and candles that smell really nice but only within about a 4' radius. One unexpected experiment was getting a Cinnamon scented one and a Hot Buns (also cinnamon scented). The Hot Buns filled the whole house with cinnamon scent, but the Cinnamon was one you only smelled if you were within that 4' radius. Regarding accuracy, I mostly refer to a couple of candles I've gotten that the scent was... a little off. The Hot Chocolate one has a habit of vacillating between a nice hot cup of cacao and a melted tootsie roll on a summer sidewalk. Both very nostalgic, mostly pleasant scents, but makes for a strange candle experience. The Banana Bread (such as in Smell My Nuts) smells very much like artificial banana flavoring, like banana Runts or Circus Peanuts (did you know those are banana flavored?!). Again, not necessarily bad - just... strange. The problem is that with a few exceptions, it's hard to know whether you'll get a fills-the-house scent or a 4'-radius scent.

Just like the headline says. This candle smells like you are baking brownies in your kitchen. That's it. Not going to write a freaking novel about a scented candle. Although, I would like to shout-out the person who designed the handle. Nice to be able to move it without burning myself.

This is the best candle you can buy!!the price is A LOT lower than the big name brand candles,and those ones have no smell to them..I light this one and people can smell the chocolate in the hallway outside. Ive ordered a lot of our own candle candles from this seller,and have had no problems at all!!they come fast,and are always wrapped tight in bubble wrap to avoid cracks..our own candle company is def.the best on the market.really great smells,low price, and a HUGE selection of scents.. (by the way,the root beer float, oatmeal cookie,and gingerbread,along with the hot chocolate are the ABSOLUTE best ones to try) and most of them are less than 12 dollars!!great product,and the seller is top notch! I would and will order more from this seller !! 5 stars..Warning; follow the directions on the candle and dont burn more than 3 hours at a time..the glass holder heats up pretty bad if left on long periods..

This scent is not my favorite, it's very strong and does not smell like hot chocolate. It just smelled too fake and even gave me a bit of a headache. That being said, it does have a chocolatey scent to it, just not what I was expecting. I prefer candles that smell like baked goods, and was hoping for something along those lines with this Hot Chocolate candle, but unfortunately did not get what I was hoping for. I will still use it every now and then because my hubby does likes it, just not our favorite. Still a fan of OOCC, but maybe we'll stick to the true baked goods scents moving forward.

This is by far my favorite of the “Our Own Candle” scents. Have several of these candles as gifts. Loved by all!

Buy the candle.I had this candle and two big Yankee candles going at the same time and THIS is the one I could smell. It wasn't over-powering--chocolatey and minty. I wanted to eat it. I haven't ordered other scents from this company but I plan on it. Now, the handle, for carrying it room to room--very handy. And if you look on Pinterest, making stuff with mason jars is a thing. So the ability to re-purpose the container is nice too. I do hope some come without the handles for centerpiece aesthetics, but that being said, I'm ordering more today.

I LOVE THIS CANDLE COMPANY! (That's why I have so many orders of them) So I guess I'll review the scent itself...Are you ready to drool? Because if you like chocolate, as soon as you light this baby up, your mouth starts to water. This was the first time I got this particular scent and about fell over at how genuine and realistic the scent is! Your home will smell like a Starbucks, except they are only serving hot chocolate. Don't know a better way to describe it.

The first time I bought this candle was at a cider mill. I fell in love with not only the scent but the brand too! Burns for much longer then your typical bath and body works candle or yankee candle and you pay much less! You can also clean out the candle wax when it’s gone and reuse the jar!

Smells so good. Lovely jar, reusable which is great.

Le parfum de cette bougie est délicieux,assez soutenu. La durée est effectivement longue (100h). Par contre, prévoir des allumettes pour l allumer lorsqu'elle approche de la moitié, le col du flacon étant étroit
