SEASON 5 THE UNVERSE
GREAT PRESENTAION OF INFORMATION WITH THE LATEST PICTURES OF PLANTS, MOON, SUN AND STARS AND BEYOUND. AS TIME GOES ON WE ARE WIDING OUR KNOWLEDGE WITH ALL THE GRAND ASPECTS OF THE UNIVERSE. WITH SEASON 5 AS WITH PRIOR SEASONS IT BECOMES INCREASINGLY CLEAR THAT WE HAVE SO MUCH TO LEARN AND UNDERSTAND IN REGARD TO OUR PLACE IN THE GRAND DESIGN AND HOW THE EARTH CAME INTO BEING AND THE EVER DEVELOPING IDEA THAT WE ARE NOT ALONE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND COLLECTING ALL THE SEASONS YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED WITH WHAT IS REVEALED WITHIN THIS EPIC PRESENTATION OF THE UNIVERSE. THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE HUMAN RACE HAS MORE IN COMMON AS A PEOPLE CAN UNITE US RATHER THAN DEVIDE US AND BY STUDYING THE UNIVERSE WE WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND OUR ORIGIN AND HUMANITY WITH EACH OTHER. THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL WE EVER BE READY TO CONNECT WITH OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS FROM OTHER WORLDS AS WE GROW IN OUR EVOLUTIONARY PROCESS.

LOVE it!!!!
I have been watching The Universe for years now. Granted all their new episodes are starting to look like reruns, But I love watching all the information and physics behind the planets, and other celestial bodies. I fully recommend this product to any raising scientist or just someone who loves watching science shows. When I got the DVD it was completely Scratch-Free, so do not worry about scratches here, even if they are used.I have been researching science for over 4 years now, and I still recommend this DVD to anyone who wants to know more about science. Even I am still learning more on these DVD's.

Good Series, Short Season
The fifth season of The Universe is, by far, the shortest season with only 8 episodes:"7 Wonders of the Solar System""Mars: The New Evidence""Magnetic Storm""Time Travel""Secrets of the Space Probes""Asteroid Attack""Total Eclipse""Dark Future of the Sun"It's a little disappointing -- as a viewer, I feel a bit cheated out of five episodes this season, given that previous seasons had 13 or more episodes each. This has been a good series thus far -- perhaps the best on TV since "Cosmos" in the 1980s. But it is apparent, based on the last two years, that the producers are running out of new ideas and angles. Now, with this short season, one can't help but wonder if viewers will be seeing a season 6.Still, with all the discoveries and tantalizing hints revealed by the new particle accelerator, coupled with observations and discoveries from the space-based telescopes, you would think there'd be more than enough "science fuel" from just 2010 for new programs. I'd like to see an episode chronicling the Voyager spacecraft journeys now that they're leaving the fringes of the solar system and heading into true interstellar space.Bottom line: If you like the series thus far, it's worth buying Season 5. The price is right for the short season. The science is still good and the series, as a whole, holds up even after five years in terms of relevant and accurate information.

Season 5 of the amazing History Channel "The Universe" Series.
If you are reading this review you have no doubt read many other reviews of the series in general. All 6 seasons are top quality productions and you can't go wrong buying ANY of them. A word of advice. If you can control the desire for immediate gratification the entire series can be found VERY affordably by shopping back & forth between eBay and Amazon. New is nice but I have found that dvd's in the grades of "Very Good to Like New" are a great deal.

The Universe - Season 5
While I was slightly disappointed in it's smaller number of episodes, the scientists and astronomers did an excellent job with the episode they DID create. The visual graphics and effects (CGI) were most definitely repeated frequently, even many shots from past seasons but these repeat uses seemed to still support and enhance the specific subject being discussed. I recommend to anybody interesting in the science of stars and everything that is around us and IS us. If I had 3 thumbs, it would be 3 thumbs up!

Short but wonderful...
I am sorry that this season was so brief but the shows were still incredible. The entire run of all five seasons is an excellent show, with every season showcasing the wonders that are up there. I hope that they will either continue or revive this series with new material when they can. I will keep watching.

The universe Season 5
When you compare season 5 with season 2, 5 is a ripoff.Season 2 had 19 shows on 4 disk. Season 5 has 8 shows on 2 disk.It is like they just rushed through to get a season out no matter how incomplete it is.I am very dissapointed.

Always fantastic pictures
I think it's the last season for this serie. I don't see what else History Channel could tell about astronomy in a spectacular point of view. This box includes twice the Wonders of the Solar system. One in 2D on the the first bluray, and the same episode on the 3D bluray disc.Although I can tell much about the 3D because I don't own the hardware (screen and player), when I see this specific bluray in 2D, it seems to me that high definition is far better than the pure 2D edition. Watching at it is like being in a video game, or some movies you can see in theme parks.Last but not least, what is good for me, as a non English speaking customer, is the fact that the two blurays of this serie are subtitled. So is not the bonus disc, but you can find the related text on episode one in the first disc.Although this serie is not really scientific too noisy for the silence of space), it's very spectacular. And for this price, buy it without hesitation.

Very nice title, worthy of buying
I now have the entire seasons 1-5 og "The Universe", and i am very pleased. The content on each BD is mixed, so it doesn't bore you, it is (or at least sounds) very scientific, no subjektive views. The addition of season 5 to my collection has not been regretted, it delivers the same level of knowledge and brilliant mix of experts and visual effects, to help the viewer get the maximum out of every episode. The addition of the 3D disc to this season is a very nice touch, that innicially helped my choice to buy it. Though i do not yet have a 3D television, i think it's a great addition, one which i shall be looking forward to seeing in the futureAll in all, The Universe Season 5 is a thing that all people who likes knowledge of the universe should buy, it's very easy to understand and it's brought out in a good way. five stars.

Not recommended!
First, only a few episodes of this series are based on established scientific facts and knowledge, most of the others have gone into the realm of science fiction including computer-generated images of alien worlds and possible alien life forms and, and future sex in space CG effects? The drums and bass sounds in the background and all the booms, bangs, hundreds of images coming in and out and shaking the screen in all episodes completely unnecessary and REALLY ANNOYING!!! Sometimes you cannot even hear the narration over the beats and bangs! It's really tiring to watch this because of the shaking images and loud sudden unexpected sounds, the whole series is like a carousel of disaster!!!!Also, the examples / demonstrations used to explain the phenomenons are repeating on an on, several times, practically the whole series time can be cut in less than half of actual scientific content. It’s also irritating (as other users said) that the producers of this series have interruptions predicting death and destruction on Earth!! On all episodes, every few minutes - again and again and again and again....History Channel! Redo this, put all series together and produce one great series out of these, by cutting out off the rubbish!!Not recommended!

I expected more from the bonus disc
This set could be a must have, thinking at the topics it touches. My comments are only for the 3D bonus disc.I bought it to feed my new gear and to experience 3D for the first time at home.In comparison with other films, the 3D effects are based more on the depth, rather than on the pop-out.The computer graphics are for my eyes a little childish (the spaceship looks fake in comparison with many other low budget movies). The Solar System offers so many subjects for very good stories. In my humble opinion "The Seven Wonders" are not very well chosen. However, the total is positive.
