Good tensioning tool for spiral window balance
I chose this tool over the other suggested tools because it looked like it was better designed at the same pricing point. For my purpose, this tool did the job without any modifications. Since I can't compare to any others, I would recommend this in addition to changing my "Tilt Window Spiral Balance".

works perfectly, did the job!

Required to set spring tensioner
It works well but takes a little practice. Once you get hang of it, you’re in good shape to properly tension double sash spring detents.

worked great !
tried to install balances with needle nose pliers. i was able to install the balances but it wasn't easy. wasn't sure i had the right number of rotations for balances. ordered tool and redid the job . what a difference. this tool makes the job of replacing spiral window balances so much easier.

Great tool
This tool was what I needed to attempt to adjust the spiral balances on my windows. It is fairly heavy duty, not anything that would end up breaking after a few uses.

A Little Tricky to Use at First
Balance tension tool is well made, but a little tricky to use. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to use it on my windows. It slipped off once and I thought the balance spring had broken. After I got the hang of it everything went well. Typical learning curve if you haven't adjusted tension rods before - and I hadn't. There are good how to do it videos on Utube. The shipping is expensive.

Works!
Makes the job so much easier. With the tension on some of those springs, depending on the size of the window, you could probable hurt yourself without the proper tool.
