Quick, Easy, and Enjoyable Read
I'm a fan of Andrew Grey's other books and decided recently to check out his Spot Me/Work Out series. As of right now, the series consists of six books. While they don't need to be read in order to be enjoyed, I do know that Pump Me Up (book 2) contains characters from Spot Me (book 1), so there is some overlap. Regardless, you won't be "lost" if you read out of order; stuff may make more sense, though.Spot MePump Me Up (Spot Me)Core TrainingCrunch Time (Work Out)Positive Resistance (Work Out)Personal Training (Work Out)Spot Me is a quick read. It's a M/M romance novella, so if you are wanting complex plots and extremely detailed characterizations, this is not the book for you. However, if you want a quick, enjoyable read, it's a worthy purchase. While the sex scenes are hot, they are few and far between. Grey chooses to focus more on the budding romance between the two main characters, and he does so in such a manner so the story is completely believable and realistic. Dan and Gene are physical opposites and, just as in the real world, have a hard time figuring out what each sees in the other. While their conversations can be trite at times, each figures out the connection is based on more than mere physical attraction and works hard to develop a well-rounded relationship.I look forward to finishing the remainder of the series and hope character development and detail are improved in future installments.

Not as good as others
This was a sweet story but just didn't work for me. It's hard to accept that a successful 40 year old man was so insecure about himself, even though I know it can certainly happen. His interactions with both Gene and Mark just didn't sound like anything natural, just kind of stilted. It was too simplistic and there was not much character building. Not much of a plot either. I will also admit to having a personal dislike for bodybuilding, Mr. Universe types. Muscles are nice but that much is always ugly to me.

Makes you want to go to gym
First off the cover is gorgeous. I had to look at it on my Kindle Fire in color to truly appreciate it. WOW!! This is a re-read for me. But there was so much I'd forgotten. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the rest in the series. So if you like heartbreak, lifting weights, recovery, second chances, gorgeous men and muscles every where you turn, May (August) -December, low self esteem, straight best friend, ex-s, saunas, showers, locker rooms, and a big white cat then you gotta read this

Working Out...
Although this is a short story ( I would have enjoyed a much longer story) it still did not disappoint. Hence my rating. The story did make me smile and I would love to know more about Mr. Universe and Dan.

Nice and sweet
Good story but it's lacking a little...oomph. For the price, it was worth it but I wished there was more drama.

Like a childrens book
This short story is written in such a way that it seems like reading a children's book. The characters are seriously undeveloped and simple. The writing is so plain that it was hard to read almost.

Spot me
Dan can't wait to leave his office and head for the gym. He's comfortable around other guys and just enjoys a workout - until the day a professional bodybuilder shows up with a deep voice and a body to die for! But at forty, Dan can't see why a man in his late twenties would be interested.According to a magazine article, the handsome Gene is gay, out and articulate. Next time at the gym Dan and Gene spot for each other on weight exercises. Gene recruits for technology positions so he and the older computer programmer have common ground - although they never talk about it! They get on well and Gene asks Dan out to dinner. But the man who dumped Dan nine months previously turns up again after being dumped by his new boyfriend, and asks to come back into Dan's life. Now what?Gay people have relationship dilemmas just the same as straight people, and Dan's self-consciousness could apply to any person at any age. Luckily Dan has good friends. Gene is tired of dating men who are well-built but have no intellect, but they don't all like being told it's over....I enjoyed reading about the food eaten by these two health-conscious men - duck and poached pear salad, roast duck with raspberry sauce, chicken with herbs and wild rice. The regular weightlifting workouts described will surely enhance this book for gym fans and may spur them on to achieve success. SPOT ME is a nice read and Andrew Grey, while writing for an adult gay market, has delivered a good short novel for today's readers. If I were either gay or interested in gyms and weights, I'd probably have given it a higher rating. The series continues with several books on the same lines.
