Disappointed. Some very odd inclusions.
This lead to terrible arguments. We normally use the two-volume shorter Oxford English Dictionary as our trusted source for spelling and meaning. When we play scrabble we usually ask what a word means if another player uses something deeply arcane. This book is just a list with no definitions, so it is irritating to be told by another player that "I don't know what it means but it is allowed by the Collins guide".This is particularly annoying for two-letter words which are meaningless to the user and other players but apparently 'allowed'. (Pa, xu and aa, are allowed but seem to be in breach of rule 8)Far from being the 'bible' for this excellent game it has turned out to be a major irritant. 'Ostmark' is allowed but is clearly a foreign word in breach of rule 8. ' Basskap' seems unlikely as does 'whios'. ' Outfigure ' is ugly, but allowed, apparently.Back to the OED for us. Scrabble should be won by those with good word skills, not by the player who has memorised the most two letter words from this text. Using this book a person with no grasp of English could win the game without knowing the meaning of any English words. That seems unsatisfactory to me.

Great item
Bought as a gift and recipient loves it!

comprehensive but could be organised more effectively
It is great but I feel that it was not necessary to have half the book dedicated to long words of 9 letters and more. I would rather have had a section with lists of 2 and 3 letter words for greater speed of use.

Not what I expected
Disappointing. I probably didn't read the product details correctly. The book gives the words but not the definitions which is a bit pointless. Years ago I had a similar book and it listed all the 2 & 3 letter words at the front, this was great for easy reference with my competitive family. This book only shows the 2 & 3 letter words alphabetically. Also I bought 3 books for family members but the next day saw a paperback smaller version for less than half the price! Gutted.

Dreadful
Beware true Scrabble Lovers! Having had great use of CHAMBERS "Official Scrabble Words", I tried to find an updated print, but it still lingers in 2001. With continual language change, I decided to opt for the Collins one of 2016. What a waste of money! Ok, some of the newer words are in there, but:- The print font is dreadful and almost unreadable at times. I don't tend to play scrabble under a spot light.- It is an unwieldy book.- The layout is just incomprehensible, divided into 2-9 letter words and 10-15 letter words. This means you ofttimes are referring to two different sections- The clever 2 and 3 letter listings of the CHAMBERS version are omitted by Collins. This is probably the most referenced part as you try and overlap words. All in all, I would recommend putting up with a dated but easy to use Chambers version in favour of this disappointing tome.

Essential for all scrabble fans to stop any bickering but ...
Essential for all scrabble fans to stop any bickering but I do miss the section at the back that my old scrabble book had of two and three letter words.

I used to be lost for words
What can you say, easy to use. Good value and saves falling out with opponents. Great for playing online games

Four Stars
I wish I had bought the paperback version as this one is rather heavy.
