Three grades of storage boxes
This is a medium duty storage box. It falls somewhere between one of those 50 gallon plastic totes you typically see and an outdoor grade weather-proof garden storage container in terms of construction and reliability. It is attractive and well suited for a toy box, an indoor general-purpose place to keep linens, an easy to clean storage box for the mud room and similar applications.I have a box that was twice as much from the same company that is slightly larger that I've had for 12 years in the blistering desert summer heat and freezing winter nights and guess what, it has survived. More gets you more.I wanted this box to replace my lightweight 50 gallon plastic box that we use to store our artificial holiday tree, which has all kinds if sharp wire edges. The plastic tote was cracking and protruding and falling apart and its tapered shape was inefficient. This box takes up exactly the same amount of floor space but because of the squared-off side panels and the fact that it is a few inches higher allowed us to pack the tree looser and still leave room for all of our wreaths and garland. And because it is a heavier grade resin material and has an almost-flat lid we are able to stack two 50 gallon totes on top of it.Assembly was about 5 minutes. The instructions are adequate but not great. A major improvement would be if they assigned a letter to each of the six parts and molded in an up arrow. Here are a few hints:1. There is a curved trim on each of the four sides. You know they are all facing the proper direction if they all arch upward (the opposite of a smile).2. The two sides are identical and interchangeable. The back panel has the hinges for the lid. The hinges go at the top.3. The bottom panel has a couple of holes in it along one of the long edges. They don't mention them in the assembly guide but I found the panel fits better if they are placed at the back of the box.4. The lid hinges are cheap (but better than the snap-on lids of the cheap 50 gallon totes). Don’t try to snap them in place with the lid open and don’t try to snap them down all at once. Start from the left (as you face the box) and snap them in place one tab at a time. The lid closes securely enough if the box is used indoors. Outdoors it should be okay to keep rain and insects out but this is not a lockable weatherproof storage box. You need to invest at least double to get that. Trust me I looked at over a dozen of these things and not one of them in this range could be considered heavy duty.BOTTOM LINEI described 3 types of storage boxes here. The lightweight plastic tote boxes work out okay for temporary storage but they only last a year or two before they crack and bulge. I find the lids on those boxes to be very difficult to open so I would not use them for toy boxes or anything I want regular access to. The reviewed box is great for general purpose storage, indoors or outdoors in a well-protected area and moderate climates. It is a reasonable value. The third type, heavy duty weatherproof lockable and usually wheeled boxes will be a lot more but will probably last a lot longer. You have to decide what works best for you.

A GREAT FIND
I bought this to use as a "feeding station" for two feral cats and it's working perfectly! With bad weather coming, I wanted a sheltered place for them to eat. An opening was cut in the front on the left side and to acquaint them with it - I fed them but with the top open. After a few days, I closed the it and they went right in - hungry wins out! Being able to open the top with their full food dish is very convenient. The assembly was simple - snap together and light enough to move easily. The price was fair - I ordered a "used" for a few dollars less - never did see the damage but saved $5 dollars!!! MADE IN USA FYI - I bought a Suncast doghouse to put in my shed for their "home", piled straw in it and they are two happy cats. Very pleased with my Suncast products.

I really like Suncast products, and I love this storage box. I bought three.
I love these. They are a nice size to hold lots of stuff on my deck, front porch, and garage. I like them so much, I bought three of them. I have become a fan of Suncast products. Beats the heck out of Keter products for quality and price. The are not the toughest boxes in the world. They are plastic, after all. So you don't want to go loading up the top with stuff. Not really suitable for sitting on. But for normal storage of chair cushions, hoses, and the usual deck-related kind of stuff, it's great. I even put firewood in one. They don't really have any handles, so they are a little tricky to move around if there is stuff in there, so you might want to think about whether you will want to try to move it around when full respective to what you put in there. The bottom just kind of sits in there, but so far it has been waterproof. The lid doesn't latch in anyway, so high winds could conceivably blow it open. I'd weigh it down in a storm to keep contents dry. But so far have had no issues with water getting in up here in the Pacific Northwest. I even put firewood in one. These are attractive, for a plastic box, and went together ridiculously easily. Instructions are easy to understand and follow.I downsized from a larger home and didn't have enough storage for things that were previously under a covered deck and in my garage. A couple of these and a Suncast deck storage shed did the trick. All are well-made, arrived in great shape (nothing broken or missing), were easy to assemble, and look nice on my deck.I have recommended this deck box to others. It would even make a decent toy chest or storage in the house. Love these. And no, I don't work for Suncast or get a cut. ;)

Please define "stay dry design"...
This has been on our deck less than one week, it has rained one time... I guess I mis-interpreted the meaning of "stay dry design", we have four cushions in the container, 1 of which stayed dry. The top two are wet, and the one on the bottom is wet from water that made it all the way down. After using the product, I would agree that items in middle layers can reasonably be expected to stay dry.Having registered my only real complaint, the size and weight are nice. It holds four chair cushions and an outdoor serving tray with room to spare. It is lightweight enough to easily re-locate. Assembly was easy and packaging met expectations. Two stars because we purchased this with the very specific purpose of keeping things dry that are supposed to stay dry, and it failed miserably. Would make a great container for a screened in porch or garage.

Effective Weather Proof Outdoor Mailbox
I got this box as a weather proof mailbox for boxes that are delivered to me because I have a fence around my house that prevents me from getting deliveries on the porch. I selected the box because its dimensions fit nicely along my driveway. Now, UPS, Fedex, and the USPS simply leave my boxes in this container in order to protect the contents from the elements. After a month or usage, I am happy to report that the container--while not perfectly water proof--closes well enough to protect my orders (often books) from rain and sleet, and I have never found soggy contents!

Simple, does the job
Takes 60 seconds to assemble, 120 if you need the instructions. Strong enough to sit on, seems to do a good job keeping everything dry inside so far.
