As someone else said too thumpy - update
Update: Changing tips really improved these phones. The tri flange tips really hit the sweet spot in my ear. I can 'tune' the bass now by how far I shove them in my ears.Still not for critical listening but a very easy to listen to headphone. Cymbals sound better now. Bass is more balanced with good extension/bloom for < $100 IEM's. They are forgiving of poor source material and/or using with portable electronics. They strike a good middle ground between musical and detailed, though it's somewhat a case of not doing either one particularly well but that's getting nit picky. The phones are bit bulky and heavy and the cord bounces while running. I also find I tend to futz with them a lot while wearing them. Adjusting the fit, playing with the cables, etc. But all and all they fit well and stay put for most activities. The thicker/flat cord bothers me at times. It always feels like it's going to come off my ears but in reality it doesn't. I think with more wearing they will drape nicer over the ear.But to my ear they still lack 'something'. If I had to do it over I'd probably try the NuForce 700's or Thinksound ts02/MS01.Upping my rating to 4 stars for being perfectly good, if some what uninspiring phones.Original review:Too thumpy and not in a good way. It's all, ok mostly boom with no 'good' thud. (I'm guesing there are even boomier headphones I out there.I got them an hour a go and I already know they are going back. And I like bass and I like warm and forgiving over 'accurate' and 'lively'.I like the $22 Vsonic GR99 better than these. Though to be fair these are 'technically' and are better in the treble than both of them but it's not enough to offset the excessive bass for me and again I like bass. If you want to hear not just the bass drum but also the beater side of the bass drum these are not the phones for you. If you like the sound of all the drums, including the rack toms, these are not for you.If you want to hear bass instruments that sound like they do in real life, these are not for you. They are so V-shaped they sound like they have hole in the frequency response. If you know what that means and feel like you hear that kind of things these are not the phones for you, if like me you are being swayed by the number of good reviews. If you think 'beats' sound good you might like these. If you 'bump' in the car and or like hip hop/rap than you might like these. If you are coming from crap phones you might like these because they probably have better highs and more bass extension (rumble I see people call it and rumble it is, and not in a good bass extension way). If your frame of reference for drum sounds is EDM you may very well like these.I'll be returning these and sticking with the GR99 until I can find something better. I don't think these are worth the $60 they cost based on owning Vsonic VC02 and Vsonic VSD1's (which I really liked but just couldn't get a good fit). While the highs have fairly nice extension and no sibilance or tizzinesss don't expect to hear the metal of the cymbals, mostly you get the sound of the tip of the drum stick on the cymbals. But that is pretty common until you get to better phones/speakers. While not expensive the Vsonic VC02 was very good at 'cymbal' sounds. These are v-shapped to the point of sounding like they have hole in the frequency response. If you know what that means and think you can hear such a thing, these phone are definitely not for you, in case like me you are being swayed by the number of good reviews.Do they sound 'terrible' no, unless you have heard better. Do not get these if you are looking for good phones with a little more bass than what you have now I like I was trying to do over the Vsonic VC02. I like the VC02 but wanted something with more bass to use while working out. I also like my Vsonic VSD1's but I put them through the wash and never could get a very good fit, so I'm not replacing them.I was worried about these and the bass sound but wanted to try them since I almost always wear phones with the cord over my ears. and in that aspect they are pretty comfortable and were easy to fit and get a good seal with the stock size tips. They feel a little big to me but I'm coming from Vsonic VC02 which are very small. All music was 320k MP3 or FLAC using the DAC headphone amp in the Topping VX1 amp using foobar 2000.If accurate reproduction of bass sounds, including drum sounds is important to you look else where.I like BASS. The GR99 are bass heavy as are the Skull Titans. The Vsonic VSD1 are not shy of bass compared to other phones, but the bass sounds more natural on those even though they are bass heavy in comparison to accurate/neutral phones.I'm being generous giving them 3 stars but 2 stars felt too low since so many people like them and mine is just one opinion. One persons and one person's boomy is another person's good bass extension.

Amazing pair of headphones.
I loath writing because it takes me forever to write. Also, this is my first time ever writing a review, and I have bought a fair amount of products from Amazon.I love listening to music with good quality headphones or speakers. I have the 'Harman Kardon Soundsticks III' & 'Sennheiser HD-280 PRO Headphones', and I used to own a pair of Beats when they first came out so I wouldn't say I'm a total newb when it comes to quality sound but I wouldn't go as far to say I'm an audiophile or whatever seeing as how I don't own/pursue that much audio technologies (but maybe I am a little, whatever). I just thoroughly enjoy listening to music in high quality. I love hearing all the different sounds the producers intended for you hear when you listening to their music. I have had a decent amount of earbuds and I actually bought pair of 'Beats Tour 2.0 In-Ear Headphone' but I ended up returning them because I didn't think they were worth the price. So I could say I know what I'm looking for when it comes to headphones.I can't say anything like some of the other guys that go very in-depth into their review, but I can say that these are an AMAZING pair of headphones and I would say that you are very very very very much getting what you paid for with these headphones. My mom very rarely listens to music and if she does its the music that they play on the drama's she watches. The first time she tried these headphones her words were "Is it supposed to sound like a surround sound system?"In my opinion, the bass is a little heavy but nothing that an equalizer cant fix, but I guess this falls under preference. To me, it almost feels like I'm listening to the music in person, and I would say that's saying a lot when it comes to in-ear headphones.I love the bass on these headphones even tho its a little bit on the loud side the company didn't skimp. It sounds like there is a mini 10 inch sub woofer in your head minus the obnoxiousness (no offense to bass heads and no pun intended, if that even is one). Basically, what I'm trying to say is, you can actually hear the bass and feel the bass, unlike some of the lower end headphones where the bass just squeaks by. Even though its a little on loud side the bass does not overwhelm the mid or the high sounds too much. Simply a beautiful mix in your ears. When it comes to the high and mid sounds I can't say much praise about them, but then again I'm not a very big soundie like a lot of the other guys. Classical music sounds crisp and electronic music is precise. Besides that I can't say much. Oh Jay-Z is "thumpin"These are an Amazing pair of headphones. I would pay at least $100 for them if I had to. I'd say they are a steal for their selling price, even though they look a little funky and the colors are unconventional.Happy shopping.-David

Amazing sound quality, although bulky size
These sound amazing! Honestly did not expect these to sound as good as they do. These sound like they are way more expensive than they actually are and I love it. I've listened to many pairs of headphones and I'm no audiophile but I am a bit picky with my earphones so I gave these a try and I absolutely love them and have been using them or over 2 months. The sound quality is phenomenal for the price. The build quality is just sturdy, although I am afraid to drop them for fear of dropping the earbuds but they feel sleek and very well made. I just can't stop repeating myself on how good the sound quality is because it's just so clear and crisp, not muddy at all and they are amazing at noise isolation, the included foam tips isolate sound even better. These are my go-to earbuds for flights and they block out 90-95% of the noise when music is on. My only issue with these would probably be that they are bulky, especially the flat wire which makes it tangle-free but also makes the overall heavier, which allows the earbuds to fall out easily with just a tug. The splitter in the middle could definitely decrease in size and the headphone jack is just unnecessarily large, which may not fit some phone cases, and has a 45 degree angle which is quite awkward and I would prefer a 90 degree jack. I would not suggest running with these as they are too bulky even with the shirt clip provided. Overall, besides the bulk of the earbuds, thus not being able to exercise with them. I would still use these on a daily basis when commuting and when I edit videos or listen to music or anything at all just because the sound quality trumps its flaws.

Good while they lasted, maybe I just had a bad luck
I bought these just over 2 years ago and unfortunately are no longer working. I always kept them in the small provided pouch and haven't used them for anything OTT or in the gym or anything. They were primarily used with my laptop at work and also with my phones, so not exactly audiophile use, but I found them to be an improvement on standard headphones that came with my devices. .It's a shame as they were good while they lasted, and I found them comfortable (and discreet) to wear over the ear once I'd found decent buds. The Comply ones that it came with were great but they just didn't last more than a couple of months before needing replacing. The cable is nice and thicker than normal headphones, and the fact it's flat stops it from getting tangled. I am overall a bit disappointed with these as I expected them to last longer.

DOWNGRADED From Gym to HI Fi a great all rounder !!
Downgraded to 4 star as it seems Brainwaivz are unable to supply replacements for the single flange silicon tips.Would now have to try various makes on Amazon-Ebay to try and find replecements of same size and qualityI was looking for a robust earphone to use in the gym. I always wear my phones behind the ear when exercising so the cable is out of the way, so the design attracted me. The flat cable lends itself to this fitting style and the moulded sleeves at the phones and the plug seem to be very sturdy, so I have high hopes for their longevity. The quality of the sound was a pleasant surprise. I find the tonal balance ideal for listening to my very wide taste in music. The bass is there but not overblown. The mids and highs are well balanced and vocals well presented in a wide soundstage. As with all earphones it is imperative to obtain a good seal in the ear before the full sound can be heard, so be prepared to spend time on this. The supplied Comply 'Medium' T400's provided instant enjoyment without the need to push the phones too far into the ear. However I'm not sure how these soft memory foam plugs will survive daily gym sessions. On experimenting I found the 'large' silicon tips performed almost as well all be it necessary to push the phones a little deeper into the ear to obtain the proper seal. From experience the silicon tips last well in hot sweaty conditions and will hopefully be cheaper than the Comply. ( I now need to find how I can source a supply of these tips)It would have been nice to be able to try a 'large pair of Comply buds which might fit even better but am not keen to purchase 3 pairs at £14.99 to try them out. I do find that the sound quality of these phones is very susceptible to EQ changes on the mobile players. I actually find that the 'Flat' EQ on both my IPad and Ipod Nano shows off the phones to their best.Just for a bit of fun I plugged the phones into the headphones output of my Naim Supernait Hi Fi amp. I found it very easy to forget I was listening to a sub £40,00 pair of phones. I also have comparatively expensive Shure in-ear phones which I use for mobile listening when I'm not in the gym and these S1's gave them a good run for their money. The Shures need to be given a fair bit of volume to show their best. However the S1's are more sensitive and the natural bass boost makes them a much more satisfying listen at low volumes. I think this characteristic will also mean the S1's would suit a wide range of portable players and smartphones.(N.B. Obviously if you don't like wearing your phones with the lead over the ear then and feeding behind the head then by other models)

Older E10s lasted for three years in far worse conditions. Sound wasn't what I expected either
Cable broke after around five months of use, without maltreatment. Older E10s lasted for three years in far worse conditions.Sound wasn't what I expected either, the sound is too bass heavy and muddy, even though I have a preference for some bass. Highs also lack a bit of clarity and detail. Overall, not too bad for the price, but at least if you're not a serious basshead there are better options.

Good sound but flimsy
The sound was good, but it only took 6 months for them to stop working. They did the classic thing where the sound only comes out of one ear unless you fiddle with the connector. Even then, the sound would come and go if you moved a little. I was always careful with wrapping them around my mp3 player when I put it away. Would not buy again.
