Steel-Flex Puncture Resistant Insoles are extremely light and comfortable, weighing only slightly more than a regular non-puncture resistant insole, and can be worn continuously in your footwear or only occasionally as the need for extra protection is required. They can be used in many types of regular non-safety footwear in place of any existing insole that has been provided with the footwear.Steel-Flex Puncture Resistant Insoles have many suggested applications for use, including but not limited to, occasional use opportunities in factories and workplaces where safety policy dictates that penetration resistant footwear protection must be worn by employees and visitors. Examples of specific applications where footwear penetration protection is highly recommended are; in the tire recycling industry, renovation and construction industries, metalworking, medical first responders, sanitation and landfill sites, hunting and fishing, any time there is a risk of contact with a sharp object. Steel-Flex Puncture Resistant Insoles are a perfect accessory in the household toolbox and can be used as necessary by the homeowner for those indoor and outdoor jobs where puncture hazards can occur at any time. Sharp nails or screws, shards of glass, syringes, needles, wood splinters, rusted steel scraps etc. are all real life examples of hazards that cause injuries every day at home and at workplaces.

Good for hallux rigidus or hallux limitus
I have a cartilage injury in my big toe and need insoles to prevent the forefoot from flexing too much. These insoles have added enough stiffness in the forefoot for me so that I am not feeling pain any more. They are also not too hard so not getting any plantar fasciitis from them. My podiatrist had originally given me a hard carbon fiber insert to put in under my sole which did wonders for the big toe, but after a few weeks because they were too hard, I had a flare up of plantar fasciitis.

They do the job
I have arthritis in both big toes. The carbon plate from the doctor was totally rigid. By the time I added an insole and an arch support my foot came out my sneaker when I walked. These are great in that they replace the insole and the arch support and aren't as rigid. These are sold to prevent punctures not for arthritic toes. They do run large. The WM's small just fits my 6.5 wide NB sneaker. I still highly recommend them.

Great for my roofer boyfriend!
I bought these metal puncture resistant insoles for my boyfriend who's a roofer who happens to constantly get nails in his foot and always worried that he's going to hurt himself. This allows him to walk around all over the nails without worrying that he's going to get a nail in the foot and they work absolutely well for that! However one of the things I do have to say is that he constantly complained about how much his feet hurt from walking on these metal insoles. Because of this I ended up buying him an extra set of cushioned insoles to go over the top of them and it seemed to work out just fine. Also these really are size to fit and I accidentally bought a large at first and then that would probably fit him even though he wears a 12. I ended up having to return them in exchange for a larger size so do make sure you get the correct size when you're ordering. Other than the slight discomfort they seem to be working great and have been pretty durable.

Just as good as carbon fiber insoles
I bought these because I have a mild case of hallux rigidus. Just a small bone bump. So I'm try to stop it from getting worse. I was told to get carbon fiber insoles, but if the point is to create a stiffer shoe, these work just as well. And u get a set for under $30, as opposed to $50 for one carbon fiber insole. The steel plate is covered perfectly, so you won't have to worry about the rust issues associated with steel plate insoles. They have a decent cushion, whereas they shouldn't hurt your feet. But if it's too hard u could always put a thin, more cushioned insole on top. The weight isn't too extreme, but the insoles do have noticeable weight to them.If you're not used to devices like these, then you'll need an adjustment period- since they essentially stop some of the curl that u get when u push off the ball of your foot.I wear a men's us 12, bought a size L. They fit OK, but could use about a half inch more insole around the soles. Overall, good product. Just wish they had bigger sizes, that I could adjust if need be.

Not the most comfortable...
In terms of what they were meant for, they totally work. They have successfully stopped stuff from puncturing my feet. The downside would be more of a me problem, than a them problem. I tried ten different ways to wear them, but they were not compatible with my feet. I was constantly getting cramps, toes asleep, or feeling like I was walking on hammers. I ended up stripping the pads off and slipping the shank under my good insoles. Now... they're only slightly uncomfortable and I'm only dealing with the numbness. If you don't have delicate and arthritic feet, I'm sure these would be just fine. I'm going back to the drawing board.

Get puncture resistant work boots instead
I bought these after stepping on a nail while volunteering on a home construction site—I hoped to avoid investing in puncture resistant work boots. I valued that these would prevent me from getting a nail through my sneaker, but I found them uncomfortable to wear through a 5 hour shift. Particularly when I walked the 4 blocks to and from our break location, my feet became uncomfortable due to the stiffness of the insoles. I replaced these with a reasonably priced puncture resistant steel toed work boot.

Useful Insoles
So far they work as advertised. If you're using them in work boots, as long as your boots are a little roomy they will work great. I bought them to wear in work boots to avoid nails and other sharp debris and I also bought them as a stiff insole to help reduce turf toe. They are much stiffer than your typical insole l, so they're good to prevent too much unwanted bending. The only issue I've had is that I can only use them in a couple pairs of shoes. Because of their thickness I can't fit my foot in most of my shoes with them in and yes I removed the other insole first. Not a huge deal considering their mostly intended for work boots which they fit in mine just fine.

Great product for my need
Great product for my need. Following toe surgery, I needed better supporting shoes and inserts. These insoles provide what I need for forefoot stability. They fit well in my 11 1/2 EE shoes.
