Please pardon my ignorance, but are 94a wheels harder than 78a wheels? will these fit my santa cruz "skate cruiser" skateboard?

Yes 94a is harder than 78a wheels. Hardness of skateboard wheels generally range from 75a - 100a with 100a being the hardest. For sizing, please check what size your current wheels are and compare that to the 64mm size of this wheel. If it is more than 8mm difference, I would say these will not fit.
