I love these shoes so much but I always forget how tight they are straight out of the box. The toe box is really long and pretty low profile. I have a high instep and can't even get them on as they come.Fortunately canvas stretches. Wet them and stuff them with paper (I mean really stuff it in there) for a couple of days and it's all good. Obviously can't return them after doing this which makes it a gamble if it's your first time doing it and don't know how much you need them to stretch but *I* find it works. This is ultimately more comfortable than sizing up and having excess length flapping around.If I didn't have to do all this then I would give them 5*. They're well made, last ages, go with everything, and at this price they're a steal. For someone they fit I'm sure they'd hit that perfection. Arguably my criticism is a me problem, but it's also not really because it's not as if I'm the only person in the world with a high instep or wide feet. Lack of width options is the only thing letting them down imo.
