I cannot review because my order was canceled due to termination of product.
I wish I could write a review. Simply put I can't because the company terminated my order after accepting it. They state the gate as titled is no longer available through them or any other vendor. They did not go ahead and suggest a replacement gate to suite my needs. I was simply left with an extension I hand received from a separate vendor, with all the hassle of returning the extension, shipping and refunds. What confuses me is why was my order accepted in the first place and my C/C charged if they knew they had no way of filling the order? I was given no clear explanation or apology for taking the order in the first place. When I appealed to Tomy directly to pointed me towards a alternate gate they declined. I find this odd to say the least.So in a way I have had no experience with this product , but it was not for lack of trying on my part to purchase a working gate designed to fit my needs. There is a similar gate provided by a different vendor the R2C - this gate seems very similar to the Tomy - hands free gate. The above mentioned R2C is marketed for animals not babies. The target demographic is a dog owner not a new mother. I am a pet owner and only went into the area of Baby gates because honestly there is far more to chose from and many different price points. I sadly have been disappointing, both a Carlson Extra wide Gate I did buy, it broke only 2 months after purchase. So, then I tried again to purchase what seemed to be a solid product, but was denied the chance. And yes I ended up with an extension for the Tomy Hands free gate, that the vendor did not want mailed back- even at my cost, in fact the vendor refused to receive it or credit me a refund. So bottom line I have purchased one gate that did not last 2 months of use, combined with two separate types of extension pieces that each vendor wanted nothing to do with once it had been mailed to me. I have spent a fair amount of money at this point and have a broken gate, and 2 unusable extensions to show for my effort. Some of this could have been avoided completely if only Tomy had never taken my order- for a product they no longer support. I would not be in possession of two separate useless extensions for one thing. Had I been given correct information about the gate they never planed to send, I could have made a different choice. Tomy company allowed me to think - through the status of my order on Amazon - that it was simply a matter of a back order, not an order that was never going to come through. I sat waiting patiently for my order to arrive, it was only through calling Tomy directly to ask why was the shipping taking so long that I was told that my order had in fact been canceled .

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN ORDERING THIS EXTENTION
I was given this gate as a baby shower gift over a year ago and only recently had a need to use it. I love the gate and the extensions are a perfect match but the product description is very misleading. I even read another customer's review stating this exact point and re-measured twice to be certain I had the correct length. When the description reads "up to 44 inches" this includes both gate extentions, not just one. I ordered one extention only to find out it still didn't fit my upstairs hall and had to order the second one. I also had to pay for shipping twice taking my gate extention total to just over $30. The gate only cost $50. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN ORDERING THIS EXTENTION so you don't pay twice for shipping.

GREAT PRODUCT, BUT OVERPACKAGED
The gate extensions work perfectly to fit the gate into a wide door, exactly what we needed! The product is great, but Amazon really overpackaged it. First of all, they shipped each extension separately in its own box from the same warehouse. Each unit (36"LX10"WX1"D)was shipped in a HUGE box (40"LX15"WX10"D), mostly filled with packing material (they could have shipped 8-10 units in one box!) C'mon Amazon, in these days of exorbitant gas prices and overflowing landfills, you need to be more mindful of your warehouse packaging. Now I have to recycle all of the huge boxes as well as packing material. Why weren't these shipped together in one appropriate box??? All I can say is I am glad that I didn't have to directly pay for shipping on those two big boxes filled a small amount of product and a lot of nothing else, but I am sure that that cost of overpackaging and overshipping is built into your overall prices.Product recommended, Amazon deserves a slap on the hands for poor Warehouse packaging!

Does what it's supposed to do!
We have a fairly large opening between our kitchen and breakfast area where we wanted to install the hands-free gate, so we needed two extensions. We liked that we were able to purchase two, making this gate a good fit for this space, but it was annoying that we had to purchase TWO extensions, making this gate a more expensive solution overall. But, we are at the top-end of this gate's width maximum, and do NOT feel like it's unsteady at all, as we'd seen in some reviews. The step is a little hard to work with right now, but after testing a friend's gate (which she's had for a while), we assume it will become a little looser with age. Just be aware that it may be hard for children to open and close. Overall, a very good gate!!

Great Gate!
We LOVE this gate extender!!! I only made it 4 stars simply for the fact that we can't use it at the top of the stairs - we put it at the bottom to keep our twin daughters from going up and we can quickly adjust it to fit their bedroom door when we need to. This is an awesome gate - our 4 year old son had trouble getting it open at first but he 'hops' on the pedal to open it (which is great - I don't have to help him). This extender is so easy to install to the gate and to take on and off. It's a great gate - I can open it with my hands full of laundry or other stuff and close it too.

Works Fine For Us
We had to buy this with the Hands Free Gate because our stairway was just a smidge to wide for the gate itself. The only issue we have come across is that the bottom bar on the gate and the extension bowed a little, we believe it is because of our shoe molding and the way our walls are, we fixed it by putting 2 little pieces of wood under the bottom bar and so far that has fixed our issue. Other than that the extension is great. I don't recommend using more than 1 though.

Great Gate
This gate was very easy to install and it is extremely sturdy when installed properly. We had a larger opening for one doorway that was just on the edge of the recommended width. We added an extender and it works very well. As far as opening and closing the gate. It is very very simple and hands free. I have one gate that prevents my child from getting into the cat litter and food bowls, but because these gates are kind of tall, they also prevent the cats from getting to the same area. One of my cats has learned how to jump over the gate and the other just meows until I open the gate.
