A Dishwasher that Doesn't Wash Dishes? Yep.
I have two of these in two homes (unfortunately both homes had one on purchase). One is branded KitchenAid, but it's really exactly the same, in every way, except for the name tag. Performance is terrible:* Dishes come out dirty unless they are thoroughly cleaned before running the dishwasher. What's the point? You have to do the dishes twice. Both of my dishwashers behave this way. The performance is not in the same universe as a normal dishwasher.* The unit is especially sensitive to having the filter cleaned unless you only insert unsoiled dishes. If the dishes are dirty at all, the filter quickly fills up and you'll find bits and pieces all over the bottom after the dry cycle. Cleaning the bottom is not easy. The residue tends to "bake" on during the dry cycle. And the filter itself is hard to clean.* Water tends to remain in the filter bay after the cycle. Unless you wash every day, expect really bad odors as the residue rots in the bay.* The drawers aren't quite big enough. Tall discuses don't fit, so you have to put then in on an angle. This further reduces the already small capacity.I just hate this dishwasher. Honestly...the one nice feature (not having to bend over) isn't that useful either, because the top drawer is so small it fills quickly. I rarely give 1 star reviews. This one should be zero stars.

High repair & a design flaw
I love this for empty nesters as we are! It is nice & quiet and cleans well! There is a big design flaw however! It's the handle! The area between the digital dial & bottom of handle cracks because of the weight when you pull it open! We've needed to replace it several times! There is nothing we can do but live with it and replace it if it bothers us!!! And the unit locks by a button that can easily be pushed on when you wipe over the dials to clean the handle! We had an expensive repair due to the unit locking and not knowing that it did that I guess we broke it trying to get it open!

Excellent dishwasher, quiet, efficient
We have had this dishwasher for 10 months now and are really pleased with it. It is a rather delicately engineered product, and you do need to take care loading and unloading it--you don't just throw everything in like in a junk dishwasher. But you can hardly hear it running, een when both drawers are going at the same time. We had it delivered and a local plumber installed it for us. We are now thinking of buying another one for our other house.

Great Concept That DOES NOT Work
I thought that having the two drawers would be great. The smaller one for when there are only a few dishes instead of having those dirty dishes sitting the the dishwasher waiting for a full load. But the smaller drawer uses the same amount of water as the larger drawer. So where is the benefit? Also, with only the one rotating arm at the bottom of each drawer for spraying water the dishes don't get clean. You have to stack them very, very carefully so that nothing is touching and make sure that every bowl is angled so that the water from the bottom can reach it. I tried just scraping the dishes once and nothing came clean. As a matter of fact, the glasses ended up with food spots on them from the plates! And I had to run it again to get everything clean. I have to rinse my dishes until they are almost clean before putting them in if I want clean dishes. It also makes horrible whiny noises as it cycles. I have had guests that, when I'm running the dishwasher, ask me, "What's that weird sound?". When I tell them they are, like, "really?" Over all I see no benefit or use for this dishwasher. I'm sorry I ever bought it. I'm actually hoping that it will break so I can replace it. Unfortunately, we bought a 5 year store warranty for free service if anything goes wrong :-(

Very satisfied
I purchased two Fisher Paykel dishwasher drawers in 2005. Mine has been completely trouble free from day of installation. I've never had to call for a repair or maintenance. I understand others have had problems, but wanted to give the other side. I do not have the model pictured here with one tub being extra tall. Rather mine are two drawers of the same size, one above the other. My kitchen design didn't allow for the option of both drawers being in the top position, one on either side of the sink, but I think that's a great option since you never have to bend over to load or unload. I'm single, so it's more practical and environmentally sound to have the smaller, individual tubs, rather than a standard, full-size dishwasher. I fill one up every couple of days or so. It runs quietly, as do most modern dishwashers. Not as virtually silent as some I've heard, but still makes very little noise. I've had no problems with its cleaning ability. A friend with the same model keeps complaining, but every time we talk about it, she admits to using detergent that is specifically NOT recommended by the manual and doesn't use a rinse agent. I use good quality powder detergent and keep the rinse agent dispenser filled (it lasts a long time) and my dishes and glasses come out sparkling clean and spot free. I had to start adding LemiShine a year or two ago, after all detergents had to be reformulated to be phosphate free, by law. I was getting hard water deposits and a film. I blamed the dishwasher, but when I called the local dealer for a repair call they told me about the change in detergent formulas mandated by law and said many people thought their dishwashers had stopped working well. They recommended the LemiShine additive and my dishes and glassware are back to be sparkling clean. It completely eliminated any hard water film inside the dishwasher, too. I can easily fit my rather large dinner plates, so those complaining about that must have unusually large plates. No, I can't fit oversized platters nor large cutting boards. I'm happy to wash those by hand. One minor complaint is the filter that must be occasionally removed and cleaned. No big deal and I tend to rinse before loading, so mine rarely needs cleaned. If you are used to NOT rinsing before loading, you'll have to clean it regularly. For me, the compromises were well worth it. I can run a small load every couple of days and not feel like I'm wasting water and energy, like I would with a full-size dishwasher run half full. Final note, since I was redoing my kitchen, I had my cabinet maker make matching fronts for the dish drawers and they blend in seamlessly with my cabinets. The drawers readily allow for that custom option and came with instructions for that.I've been thrilled with my dishwasher drawers for 8 years now!
