unit failed before it should have, bad connectors. at cable and main meter.
main cable connection to meter after a few times using unit, with disconnecting and reconnection for the day's we used it. the connection became bad and unit stopped reading. unit failed on second floor we just had started out of a total of 5 floors similar we still needed to do. we had another one that is starting to act up (we purchased unit near same time we got this one. we had to barrow the General contractors to finish. Amazon said i couldn't get it repaired or replaced, our time limit was up so we just spent a few hundred dollars on a tool that should have lasted much longer. we really took good care of it as well.

Good light meter.
This is a well made meter with some nice features for a reasonable price. The data logging is good for unattended recording. The button push memory capacity is great if you need to record multiple readings but can't write them down as you go...like floating in a swimming pool:) The things we do for a living! Put it in a shallow plastic tub (oil drain tub), lay a towel in it to absorb any water that splashes, seal the meter (not the head) in a zip-lock baggie, throw on a floatation vest, and get paid to go for a swim! The software is pretty basic and hasn't been updated since 2007, but it works for what it is supposed to do, I am currently on Windows 7 and it works fine.

Great Product
Excellent product. Easy to communicate with the serial port and control the device from my computer. Asked the manufacturer for the serial protocol and they happily sent it to me. Would definitely recommend.

Useful isntrument
Being used to calculate total sunlight over a period of time on a large African farm. Records data at anything between 2 and 99 second intervals which can then be downloaded to a PC for later analysis. Can also measure max and min levels as well as instantaneous measurements. Seems a very useful piece of kit.

Software fehlerhaft, hoher Batterieverbrauch, Abstürze
ich verwende das Teil um Batterie betriebene LED auf die LUX zu testen und um die Brenndauer aufzuzeichnen. Das Gerät funktionier nach langer Gewöhnung für das. Leider verbraucht die Batterie viel Strom - sodass nach einigen wenigen Messreihen die Batterie im Gerät leer ist und es dann nicht mehr aufzeichnet - was dann immer lästig ist. Somit habe ich es jetzt umgebaut und betreib es mit einem Netzgerät. Die Software funktioniert hat aber Ihre Eigenheiten. Wenn man länger aufzeichnet brauche ich keine Messwert alles Sekunden, sondern alle paar Minuten, aber gerade ab 30Sec. stürzt die Software immer ab. Somit habe ich tausende Messdaten und muss die dann händisch löschen. Die Übertragung der Daten ins Excel funktioniert aber problemlos. Gesamt gesehen ist es für den Preis auch Alles in Ordnung. Man muss sich aber mit dem Gerät auseinandersetzt - es ist nicht Plug and Play. Vor langen Messungen am Besten die Batterie mal rausgeben - eine frische Lithium Batterie verwenden und - runterfahren und dann beginnen - Sicher ist sicher bevor es dann wo hängen bleibt. Weil es eben diese Maken hat gebe ich nur 4 Sterne.
