Works as advertised, very solid, robust unit. Works great with Starchoice / Shaw Direct Satellite dish
Before ordering, I was concerned about how to supply power to this unit when installed outdoors. I was pleasantly surprised to see that power is supplied with a standard female COAX connection, and the power supply has the same female COAX connection, so getting power to the unit was as easy as running one extra RG6 cable. Power is supplied without concern about the weather.I might have know this had I researched further before purchase, but glad to see.The instructions stated that a male-male adapter for power was supplied with the unit, but no such adapter was in the box. Not a big deal, as any standard cable will work for testing and installation. i was just surprised that it was supposed to be there, but was not.The Power connection is at the end of the unit. The unit itself gets very hot in the sun. I was a little concerned about this heat and attempted to make a metal shield for heat protection. I wanted to attach the shield over the tabs at each end. It was a little hard to attach the shield with the power connector in the way at one end. I don't even know if a shield is needed, I just wanted to give the unit the best chance to work for a very long time. The unit is still a little warm when shielded, but works just fine. There are three COAX caps supplied protecting three of the eight output connections from water infiltration. I guess the theory is that if you had four outputs from your dish and you are installing this unit you would have at least five outputs and don't need more than three caps for the unused outputs. This is sort of true, except that one output remained exposed for a short period of time until I could run some extra cable and protect it that way. When I connected the extra cables to the output connections, I observed some sparking. The instructions mentioned to connect the power adapter to the unit using the coax cable before plugging the adapter into the wall socket. I followed this instruction and had not connected the unit to power, so I gather the sparking was as a result of the signal concentration from the dish/LNB. No worries, and no damage. This unit is designated for use with Direct TV satellite dishes. The model is the same as sold for Shaw Direct/Starchoice systems but at less than half price which is what I am using it for. So far I have used six of the eight outputs with no issues. Anyone wanting to do this may purchase with confidence that it will work great with Starchoice satellite systems.

Didnt work for some for all channels
The product arrived ontime and as promised. It just didn't pull in all the transevers. My run from the dish to the other TVs was a bit long...prob 50 ft but when I bought the Zinwell I had no problems.Sorry the product just didn't work in my installation.

is not like the one in the picture
First, I got somethign not like the picture. So beware, they're not giving the real one. Second, this works only for Directv, so if you don't have Directv, stay away from it, it's useless.

Watch out
This product does not work with slimline dishes!!! You will get some channels but not all. If you have HD then you probably have a slimline dish. This is made very clear on the manufacturers website but not so much by the reseller [...] or Amazon. Go to Aspen's website for pictures of slimline dishes and how to tell them from other dishes

Multi-Switch
The switch arrived on time. It can be be used inside or out. it doesn't come with instuctions, but most FTA forums can help with setup. It is a powered switch. I have four antenae's connected and six boxes connected. To acheive this I used two switches and a diseq at the end of each box. When connecting the antenae's to this switch only one side is 22Khz be sure to set your box up correctly. Apply power to the switch. Approx. ten minutes to complete.

Solid Item, Great Price
I live in Canada and subscribe to the Star Choice satellite service. I was in need of a multi-switch to complete an upgrade to my whole house structured wiring setup. This exact multi-switch was listed on the Star Choice web site for DOUBLE the price it is here. So glad to have an Amazon account and US mailbox. This unit has a very solid feel to it. Almost like it's made of lead. I screwed it to a stud and made all the neccesary connections. So far everything is working great and PQ is excellent. NOTE: This unit has a very bulky power adaptor. I originally screwed this to a seperate stud but the adaptor started humming very loudly due to the fact I have house wiring travelling through the stud. Once I installed a small shelf and connected the adaptor to a power bar the humming stopped. Thanks Amazon!

Satellite's Best Friend !
With DVRs requiring multiple tuners, a 3 LNB satellite still needs some assistance. I installed this Eagle Aspen 4X8 and can now supply both tuners on 2 DVRs as well as 4 additional single tuner recievers without diminishing picture quality. Make sure you run all 4 outputs from your satellite into the multiswitch, otherwise you will not be able to acquire all channels. This switch can be mounted indoors or outdoors and cost about $100 less than the ones available at the big box stores and the install instructions include a Technical HelpDesk Phone Number.
