Nicky Epstein Enchanted Knits for Dolls: 25 Mystical, Magical Costumes for 18-Inch Dolls

I love the ideas for the patterns but I bought a pack of Lion brand Bons bons, the specified yarn to knit the gnome girl outfit and there isn't even enough yarn of one color to knit the part of the front that calls for that color. And upon carefully ready I see that you switch colors for the back of the top, a strange thing which is not shown in the pictures. I will have to buy different yarn and try again if I want to make this and I find that very disappointing, I was knitting to gauge so the designers didn't pay attention to how much yarn the project takes.

Disappointing lack in some directions! I am an experienced knitter - have been knitting for over 60 years. Granddaughters' American Girl dolls provide an opportunity to be creative!HOWEVER, the ENCHANTED KNITS FOR DOLLS HAS PROBLEMS. The Magical Dragon outfit, pg. 104 is confusing and VERY frustrating. Tail base, right side.... "purl to end" means a row of how many stitches??? There is also Tail Base - left side. I have knitted to this point... and now I will be on my own to create the outfit!I have tried a sample with other yarn, and I will just do my thing since I CANNOT MAKE SENSE OF HER DIRECTIONS!While the illustrations are gorgeous, I question whether anyone knitted from the printed directions BEFORE the book was published!!

I have many of Nicky Epstein books...I guess because I'm enchanted with her knowledge and knitting creations. This is a lovely book and I think the outfits are just what I was looking for to knit away for my precious grand-daughter.

This book of patterns has a nice selection of creative styles. Plus they’re fun to make.

Fairy tale fun

I have lots of little girls in my family who will love getting these outfits for their dolls. The only thing I don't like is that some of the recommended yarns are not easy to find and I have to research substitutes, but that can be said about many other books and patterns as well.

Nice book, but unfortunately because it is American, it is difficult to buy the correct yarn in U.K. I managed to get some online, and some equivalent yarns and choosing which outfits to make ordered the yarn. For the first dress I made, I was able to buy the correct yarn, but the quantity stated was incorrect and there was insufficient to make the skirt the right size, never mind a bodice and long sleeves. The second dress ( the angel outfit) was going the same way when it came to quantity of yarn so I had to adapt the dress to fit the quantity of yarn. I am now sceptical about making the other outfits.

Looking forward to trying these patterns not had time yet.

I loved the ideas and designs for my grand daughters dollI did find it a bit difficult to get gauge because they are all american yarns. I will do some more now I have the idea.
