Exact part needed for noisy fan replacement -- removal and replacement tips below.
Bought this as a replacement fan for an HP Pavilion dv7-7000 (Entertainment Edition) laptop. Getting the laptop apart wasn't too awful, everything comes apart pretty cleanly. You'll need to remove the main logic board to get to the fan mounting screws and power connector. There's a couple of pieces of adhesive conductive mesh tape covering the seams between the fan and the inlet and exhaust ports - save those pieces of tape. Peel those away, then remove the four small screws holding the fan to its thin mounting plate, and unplug the fan. Plug the new one in, and mount the new fan to the plate with the four screws (don't overtighten into the plastic). Then replace the mesh tape as best you can, it should mostly stick. I then applied some Kapton tape over the mesh tape to hold it to the fan and inlet/exhaust surfaces. Put the logic board back into the case, plug everything back in, and button up the case. Be careful not to crack the plastic around the ports (somehow I broke out the grey plastic above my HDMI port). And know that the keyboard releases by prying out the top side ONLY; don't pry out the bottom side. When the top side is out, the tabs along the bottom just slide right out.Good dv7-7000 disassembly video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71UbAJGLNu0

Super quite / Works like a charm, if you have the know-how to replace it.
This fan fit and worked like a charm. Whisper quiet now. This is actually the second time I replace the cooling fan on this laptop, I don't think these are made to last but only a few years, but then again I leave my laptop on pretty much 24/7. Installing it was... not easy. If you don't have the right tools and you don't have a lot of patience I would probably NOT recommend you try replacing this yourself. But if you have the skill, and the right guide or tutorial then yeah, this is a great part.

Perfect!
Purchased this to replace the fan in my HP Pavilion DV6-7031TX laptop, which, over the past 2 years, was making an obnoxious grinding noise. It fitted perfectly - screws required a little torque during installation but I guess this is to be expected when installing a new product. I had this shipped to Australia and received it in a brown A4 envelope with interior bubble wrap padding. Although one of the cable routing hooks attached to the housing had broken off (in the bottom left of the first product image), it was nothing to be concerned about.

But this was a perfect fit. No more noisy fan
I was a little nervous ordering this, as HP's own service manual lists 4 different part numbers for a replacement fan. But this was a perfect fit. No more noisy fan, no more overheating causing my laptop (dv7t-7000) to slow down to less than 1/10th of its normal speed.

In the picture it shows that everything is apart. This is not the case, i received it in a enclosed casing. i just needed the fan component inside. However it broke when i tried to get it out of the casing.
