Vornadobaby Sunny Nursery Heater

Like many reviewers, our baby's room is the coldest in the house. Our monitor would sometimes display a temperature of 65 degress. Brrrrrr. As such I went searching for a safe spacer heater.I first purchased the larger "fancier" version  Vornadobaby Sunny CS Nursery Heater, Automatic Climate Control  because with it I could set the room temperature, but the light on top of the unit was way too bright and was keeping baby up at night.This unit has been doing great at keeping baby's room comfortable. I do keep an eye on the temperature via the baby monitor and occasionally have to adjust the thermostat higher or lower, but overall it seems to stay at a consistent temperature. It's also a little less expensive and smaller (see photo), which is nice.

I tried this fan for my son, who is nearly three years old. There are things to like about this heater/fan, but for me the bad outweighed the good and I ended up returning it.Positives:+Turns off when tipped over+The lock makes it difficult (but not impossible) for a toddler to turn it on+Little fingers cannot make their way into the fan+Also functions as a fan (no heat)+Excellent cord managementNegatives:-Like many the units of other reviewers, the unit I purchased developed a strange noise after only a couple days' use-The only control protected from youngsters is the ability to turn it on (not the heat level, turning it off, etc.)-Only a single fan speed-Weird controls that are not intuitive (relatively minor issue)

I bought this in March 2017 and it worked great for about a year. I love the safety features for a kids room and how you can adjust the heat you want the room maintained at and it turns on and off as needed. Unfortunately it started malfunctioning - after turning it on for the night, it would turn off and then never come back on. I read other reviewers had similar experiences and were able to get a new one so I contacted the company. The customer service department was easy to work with and I received a brand new replacement. After only 7 months of minimal use (mostly in fan mode since it was summer) the heater just recently started smelling really bad and strong, like a strange burning smell. We tried moving the heater to a different location and adjusting the settings but have not been able to get the smell to stop. After our experience and reading other similar reviews, we are not comfortable using this heater or brand anymore, especially in our childrens room.

Works very well in our LO's room which is roughly 14'x14' with 8' ceiling. We haven't turned it up above the 4 setting which keeps the room very toasty. Can't imagine what it could do on the higher settings. Love the safety features, specifically the cord wrap. I wanted to give this heater 5 stars, but the one thing that kept me from doing that is the thermostat. When the temperature drops below the current setting and the thermostat clicks to turn the heater on, it's loud, especially in a quiet room. If the LO isn't fully asleep, the click with cause a startle. Not sure why they couldn't figure out a way to make it quieter or silent given the design of this product is meant for a baby's room...you know, where they sleep and all. You'd think the product designers and testers at Vornado would've thought that through a little better.

The upstairs of our house gets ridiculously cold come winter time no matter what we do so when we added a little one to our family we needed to find some way to keep their room warm. My wife was obviously very concerned about putting any type of space heater in our child's room but it was really our only option. The body of the unit stays relatively warm to the touch and I love the tip-over cut off. It puts out a decent amount of heat but I'd definitely suggest another unit if you're looking to heat more than a small room (10'x12'). It heats up the nursery to a decent temperature despite the fact my wife refuses to close the door and keep the warm air in. My only complaint is that the heat sensor cut off seems to work erratically at best. In theory the unit should be set to cut off when the room temperature reaches around 72 degrees but there have been mornings where we walk in and the room is in the 80s and the unit is still running. If this is a concern you may want to look into the upgraded unit Vornadobaby makes with a remote temperature sensor.

Update: to make an already unsafe unit worse, it suddenly started smoking and emitting a horrible burning odor one day. In the trash it goes! I've barely used this thing, as I have a gas wall heater and it hardly gets cold in my area. What a piece of junk!The safety features on this unit were a big attraction to me. Unfortunately, it often seems to falsely think there is an issue and shuts off. When it does so, there is no indication that it isn't functioning. The power light stays on just as if it was working normally. This has led to some very scary situations, where I thought it was working, only to discover the baby is freezing cold in the middle of the night.I seemed to have narrowed it down to a couple of things. At first it was on carpet, and the carpet seems to slowly lift up the unit while the tip sensor slowly burrows deeper into the carpet. So after a few hours it would shut off, thinking the unit had been tipped. No problem -- I added a small piece of wood under the unit. The low heat setting doesn't seem to fight off the cold coming through the window panes very well. So I like to run it on high heat, however, that seems to trip something in the unit and it shuts off after a while of running on high heat. The only fix to this is to unplug the unit for a few minutes to reset whatever sensor thinks there is a problem. So then I tried running it on low heat, but keeping the fan on all the time to circulate the room. However, this also seems to trigger something in the unit and it shuts off. The only way to run the heater with any consistency is on low heat, intermittent fan, which does not heat up the room well enough. I like the design of the unit, but it just doesn't work well enough.

Have used this product a few times now in a nursery.Love all the safety features, allows less worries. It’s not hot to the touch at all.Like that can leave it on a low setting without overheating a small room. Where as my other space heater would make the room too hot too quickly, even on low. It does not have a temperature set like some heaters, however quickly found the setting to warm and maintain the wanted temperature when needed.Instructions are very clear and product is very easy to use. Would recommend for a nursery.

Highly recommend this for any baby room. My hubby was bent on buying a Dyson heater and I didn't want to spend so much. He is super happy with this heater and we live the safety features which Dyson doesn’t have. Highly recommend for any nursery.

We like this heater. It is great since our daughter is in a toddler bed now, I like hat it is childproof on off switch. Only issue we have is the temperature setting is not child proof and she will turn it WAY up. We often need to go into her room in the middle of the night and turn it down since her room will reach 30 degrees Celsius with this heater constantly running. We love the safety features though.

Works great. This is a very safe heater for baby, toddler and kids. It shuts itself off if tilted even a bit, so when I have caught my toddler playing with it, it turns itself off. Cold to the touch. The click on and off of the fan during the night is pretty quiet....I cannot imagine it waking anyone up.

Great little heater. Provides lots of heat for our nursery, and gives peace of mind with the safety features. Would recommend for parents looking for a nursery heater (or for those with pets).
