Great read, interesting premise... so I need to continue reading so I can get caught up then... stupid word limits

I liked the second book in this series right up to the end when it seemed to take a strange turn right at the end. In the story the main character is enrolled in a prestigious magic school. He learns alongside his princess and a host of other talented students. He had several amazingly powerful teachers and is personally taught by the high wizard who runs the school. His magical knowledge, progress and power through the book grows by leaps and bounds and he learns many things in his first year at the college that students normally don't get to learn in three or four years time if ever. then....... spoiler alertThen at the end of the book the main character who is a slime called Jelly declares that he is leaving the school and his princess to go explore the world and grow stronger. WTF, he is literally already at a school that is teaching him tons about magic with one of the most powerful wizards in his world teaching him every night more magic than most anyone else in his class could even hope for and he apparently throws that sweet opportunity away to travel around far from his princess? None of that makes any sense to me. It seems like the author wanted his main character to wander around out in the world so he could write about some amazing adventure that requires him to be adventuring by himself and not at the school and he couldn't come up with a more plausible way to write that happening so he just slapped the whole travelling around the world to grow stronger idea right at the end of the book. That's the only thing that comes to mind.

The world building continues in this great tale of a slime and a princess. The twists are fun and I’m looking forward to the next one!

The incorrect word choices and such from the first book are greatly diminished. Not gone entirely, but no longer enough to kick the reader out and make you sit and think about what that line was supposed to say.Unfortunately, quality of the rest of the work seems to have dropped. The excellent pacing is gone; the heroes go through Grand and rapid escallation in power with little to no conflict or cost, while the villains constantly make vague whispers of their master plan and then just sort of throw their resources around haphazardly, sacrifice all their advantages, and reveal as much as possible of their hand for minimal gain.But worse than that are the plotholes. Key elements include: a painfully obvious prophecy that we're supposed to believe dozens of geniuses have misinterpreted despite having all the evidence in front of their noses for months and their primary theory being proven false on multiple counts A secret infiltrator who apparently showed up to start establishing their cover at least a year before the event which *motivated* the plot they were hired to carry out, who then evaded detection through extended personal interaction with the most fastidius background checker in the world, an empath, the avatar of Wisdom, and multiple spirits with the supernatural ability to detect falsehood A grand finale which had been pinned to a specific time for half the book but took place two days early with no explanation whatsoever, relied upon the heroes never bothering to talk to each other about critical information, and which would have been hard-countered anyway by any of the three established functions of a magic item introduced in the previous book if not for every one of them being conveniently forgotten or retconned.I don't know if I'll pick up the next book or not. I still want to see where the story is going, but if it continues like this the act of thinking about what will happen next is just going to be punished by a plotline that makes no logical sense and contradicts all the evidence I'm extrapolating from.

It started as a continuation of the previous book. Really decent with some gramtical issues scattered throughout. Nothing too awful. However, there started to occur slight inconsistancies deep into the book.The last arc especially. Like the slime only using a high potion to "desperately" save someone only to later pull out an elixir that would have actually done the job practically five minites later. The story also ignored the previously already stated and acknowlegded effects of the soul ring he gave the princess.And then, the cherry on top was the epilogue. It was forced and came out of left field. It was like we were going along, being told a story, and then the author just decided to pull the rug out from underneath us and tell a different story. With almost no transition or story prep. It makes some sense, hence 3 stars and not 1 or 2.We also keep getting introduced to more and more ways that he could becomer really powerful and then it's tucked away never to be mentioned again.Seriously not sure if I'll continue the story but regretfully so. 👎

I found this book extremely well written, the lead characters are well developed, it kept my intrigue and the events flowed smoothly. As in the title, if I could have I would have given 4 1/2 stars. I felt the book enveloped Harry Potter meets Blizzard games with it's own individual twist to it. I have yet to read the first book so I am looking forward to reading that one next as an addition to the character background. The reason I didn't go for the 5 stars was that I felt some of the secondary characters needed more developing especially the ones that are more involved at the end and well, ok, a magic school immediately makes a comparison to the Harry Potter series (not fair I suppose) but I felt some things, especially the teachers, were a bit too close for comfort. Spell check it too please. In saying that, still a fantastic story in it's own right and I am looking forward to more books from this talented author, with a few tweeks I can see him maturing into the new C.S. Lewis.

Sequal just as good as the first. The prophecy is easy to figure out if you are paying attention. I got the spy but not the motive, and the resolution was short but in character.On to the third book!What new name will Jelly pick?

An amazing squeal that is definitely worth a read. I loved the learning elements in this and seeing how the characters develop.

I disagree this was a great continuation to the first book in the series and cant wait for the next in the series after being left with a need for more from this interesting ooze.
